  1. Re: Lay of the Day - Friday 5th November. 1.00 Southwell - Suddenly Susan - place lay Only 2 places here in a 7 runner nursery. This one was favourite half an hour ago but is 2nd fave now. It's a Hanagan ride and Hughes has no mount in the race. I'm laying on the basis of stamina - my method of rating gives this one the lowest stamina in the race. She has run over this CD before and finished 2nd but was worried out of it at the finish and i reckon she didn't quite get home. That was in class 6 median auction maiden company and this looks tougher I reckon there's a few here that will outstay her in the finish.

  2. Re: Lay Of The Day Selections ~ Thursday 1.20 ling - Rule of nature - place lay Stoute's horse is fave for this handicap but he's drawn out in the widest stall which could scupper him Has been running in decent AW handicaps and finished around 3rd or 4th usually, but this might be a better race and I'll take a chance that he'll be running wide and be in a poor position round the bend

  3. Re: BBOTD 4/11/10 Ling 1.20 - Street Power - win at 5/1 BOG with Bet365 This horse has a terrific record on the all weather and comes here just a pound higher than his last win Had a pipe-opener on turf recently and should be cherry ripe today There's a few front runners in the field which should play into his hands as he usually travels strongly behind the pace then swoops late. Bit squeaky bum tho' as he often seems to win by a nose or neck....... The favourite, Stoute's horse, is drawn out wide which could scupper his chances.

  4. Re: Lay Of The Day Selections ~ Wednesday Kemp 8.05 - Bold Ring - place lay Fave for the 7F handicap as it goes to complete a quick 3-timer. Apart from the fact that it's got a 6lb penalty for a neck win, I think it's better at Ling than here and i think it's better at 6 furlongs than at 7 Quite a big field tonight, hopefully a decent pace will stretch it's stamina.

  5. Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Wednesday 3rd November 4.35 Kemp - Denton - win at 6/1 BOG with Bet365 Very competitive handicap even tho' there's only 9 runners. No less than 6 of them are clustered around the 6/1 mark at the moment. Denton is a 7 year old but is relatively lightly raced. Began his carrer Down Under and came over here in July last year. Since then he's risen in the handicap from a mark of 50 to his last win off 79. Up to 85 now so he'll need to continue improving. My angle for today is that he appears to be the only natural front runner in the field and a couple of his wins have been gained by making all. He's got a lot of stamina in his pedigree and it's surprising that he seems most effective at 10F, you'd think he'd want marathon trips, but 10F appears to be his distance. I'm hoping he'll get in front and stretch 'em..........don't want to see him stacking them up at a slow pace, something will probably do him for toe if he tries that !

  6. Re: Lay of the day 2nd Nov Kemp 4.55 - Harting Hill - lay Currently fave for the class 5 mile handicap and is in decent nick having finished 2nd last time out He could well win as this is a poor race but his record shows that he's always been beaten when he steps up from class 6 Although this looks poor for a class 5 there are 3 old timers here - dinner date, chief exec and gallantry - who usually run in better races than this. They've all looked a bit of of form recently but hopefully one of them will take advantage of a drop in class and beat the favourite HH has never won beyond 7 furlongs.

  7. Re: BBOTD - 2nd November :@ Lost my post to a 'Oops, this link appears to be broken'. How annoying is that ! the short version.......... Kemp 3.25 - Ottoman Empire - win at 6/4 BOG with Wm Hill Terrific course record, 2 wins and 2nd from 3 runs, improving type, lightly raced. Main rival is now a non runner and there are doubts about all the other runners today A few of these, including the selection, might want a bit further, hopefully Mafeking willtake them along at a good clip as there doesn't seem to be much pace in the race otherwise. The selection is a tracker who should lay up handy and swoop in the home straight.

  8. Re: Melbourne Cup 2nd Nov Oh.........:@ I was reading this thread last night and was going to post up Americain as my tip, but I checked the card on the Post and there were no odds against his name, so i assumed he was a non runner........ I probably wasn't going to part with any cash so i've not lost out, apart from the glory...............:lol

  9. Re: Should he stay or should he go ? All gone quiet on the Roy front......... Presumably he's going to hang on. I suppose in a way it highlights the lack of interest in racing. If he was a politician or a bigwig at the FA he'd have been plastered all over the papers for 2 weeks until he had to go just to stop the story. Press and TV etc just aren't interested in Racing. Diamond.........I don't think that's a good idea, re paying owners to run. Unless it was a pitiful amount it would bankrupt racing pretty quickly No........I think owners should pay for their hobby. They're generally rich men or syndicates of comfortably well off people. There doesn't seem to be any lack of owners and what's more there doesn't seem to be any lack of runners in class 6 handicaps on the all weather for a prize of 2K.......those races are invariably full and quite often divided into 2 divisions 'cos so many horses are declared. The bottom end of racing appears to be thriving.........and there can be little chance of making it pay for owners at that level. They're happy to pay to enjoy their hobby.

  10. Re: Lay of the Day 1st Nov 5.00 Wolv - Knockdolian - lay I'll have a pop at the fave here - he's unexposed, lightly raced, Charlton horse, Hughsey up...........having his second run back from a break and finished 2nd on his reappearance. Might deserve to be favourite but i think he's probably poor value. For starters he's been well beaten in all his runs except that last one and that was a Class 6 handicap. He's up to class 5 today and up 2 lbs for finishing 2nd Also he's got no course form and there's a couple here with terrific course records in Straversjoy and Ghufa..........I'd rather have those two running for me against the likely fave.

  12. Re: BBOTD 1st Nov Wolv 5.00 - Ghufa - EW at 14/1 with Stan James Won 5 times at the track including 3 times over CD is looking well handicapped on his return to the Wolverhampton track as he's just 2 lbs above his last winning mark and has won 3 races on turf during the summer off marks up to 3lbs higher than he runs off today He's won or placed in half of his 40 career runs Although he finished 6th last time out, it was a good run in a fast time. he ran wide round the bend at kempton, then stayed on again to be nearest at finish over 11 furlongs. Longer trip will suit today There's a lightly raced, unexposed Charlton horse with Hughes up who's bound to go off as favourite, but all the other horses in the race are usual suspects and I'd be surprised if Ghufa doesn't go off at a lot shorter than 14/1 in this field !

  13. Re: Best Bet Of The Day Tables ~ October Well done Andy..........:ok As BH said, your consistancy is amazing.......and a bit frightening for the rest of us...........:loon:tongue2 Well done to all the guys who managed to finish in profit........I think it's a difficult time of year with big fields on the flat as they try to earn their winter corn and with the jumps just getting into gear. Maybe next month the jumps boys will be back in force along with us all weather 'experts'........... Good luck everyone ! Thanks again to BH for the top admin !...........:ok

  14. Re: Lay Of The Day Selections ~ Sunday 3.55 Ling - Ziggy Lee - place lay vying for favouritism in the sprint handicap This horse is a bit of hype horse, he often goes off favourite and the pundits like him (Timeform and the Life have selected him today) He's looking a bit high in the weights now, having gone up another lb for being placed, he's 8lbs above his last winning mark All his wins have been in lower grade races than todays He has no course form and is drawn wide I fancy Piscean and Lenny Bee to fill 2 of the places, so hopefully something else will fill the 3rd !

  15. Re: BBOTD Sun 31st Oct Nice one wizzkid, good start to the thread !..........:ok Ling 3.55 - Piscean win at 4/1 BOG with Stan James* Lots of frantic pace on here and this could be set up for something being held up and coming late Piscean used those tactics last time out at kempton and won with something in hand, scoring a huge speed fig in the process. Gone up 7 lbs which is a lot but he won comfortably that day, quickening well, and I don't think the 7lbs will stop him I'm worried about Lenny Bee who could run well at a big price, but I'll be looking for Piscean to swoop late and fast ! * Could be my last Stan James bet in BBotD as they won't be a BOG firm as from tomorrow (see another thread 1)

  16. Re: Lay Of The Day Selections ~ Saturday Weth 3.25 - The Tother One - lay Joint fave for the Charlie Hall Nicholls-walsh combo enrures that it's a false price even if it wins, but he's a bit of a character ? Always seems to go off well fancied but hasn't won for 2 years and seems best going right handed. Recently shown a tendancy to get well behind in his races and run on late, but this flat track and good ground might not suit as he probably needs soft ground, stiff track to slow the ones in front so he can cath 'em Biggest worry is that he seems best fresh as a lot of 'thinkers' are
