  1. Just had a quick look at Pontefract and one thing jumped out at me with regard to the 6F Listed race at 3.35

The 3 horses with the highest Official Ratings are drawn in the outside 3 stalls in quite a big field

Low numbers have an advantage so I'm wondering if there's an angle into the race looking beyond the highest rated horses (two of which are 1st and 2nd Favs)

The one that takes my eye is Dance Diva at 6/1 --- has won twice in Listed company, drops down from Group 3, has won at a track with a stiff uphill finish and gets 7 furlongs so should be running on up the hill, Drawn in stall 3

  2. Giving the handicaps a miss as I can't pick winners at the moment and having a crack at the two group races

Newb 2.25 - Hamada at 3/1 and Algometer at 6/1

Newb 3,35 - Gustav Klimt at 9/4 and Sir Dancealot at 4/1

    4 x £5 cross doubles

    Wolv 3.50 - Moving Forward 11/8 and Blooriedotcom 5/2

    Nott 4.45 - Gumtriyah 15/8 and Caravela 7/2

    4 x £5 cross doubles

    Lost ..….. again !

getting a bit fed up with this run of losers …….

    EW Doubles

    Cross Doubles

    Bets 6 - wins 1 - P/L (minus) £58.75

  4. These big field all aged sprint handicaps are a bit of a nightmare !

I've developed some rules for cutting the field down

Age - no 3yo, concentrate on 4 and 5 year olds who might be less exposed

    Distance - must have a D win

Must have run within a reasonable number of days

Draw - use the PL Racecard Draw Info to pick one side of the track

If there are still too many go with CD winners or trainers with a high RTF figure on the Racing post

Get down to 2 runners in the race

After all that I'm left with

    2.05 Consolation Race

    Hee Haw at 7/1

Gin in the Inn at 11/1

and two outsiders in the big one …….

    3.15 Great St Wilfrid

    Dakota Gold at 25/1

    Reputation at 33/1

  5. It's nearly always a great race is the International

I suppose connections are now looking to the end of the season and stud values

So you get the 3yo Milers trying 10 furlongs to prove a bit a of versatility and the 3yo 12 furlong horses going back to 10f to prove that they're not just plodders

Not sure which 3yo are going to turn up though which might devalue it a bit as obviously the Derby winner is out for the season

You usually get the top older horses available because this is one of the races that they stay in training for

As a bonus I think the race contributed to my biggest ever win when I had 3 horses up in a Yankee, all at good odds, one of the years that Ezzoud won it in the early 90s
