  1. Re: Best bet of the day - 4th Feb 7:20 Kempton - Know By Now 1pt WIN Ran promisingly LTO on his debut behind short priced fav and another horse who hs subsequently gone on to score, boosting the form of the race slightly. Extra Furlong tonight is bound to suit, and improvement is expected, on his second racecourse outing. From what Ive seen of the others in the field thus far, none of them look as promising as the selection does, and he should have every chance of going on and winning.

  2. Re: Hawkeye Picks

2/2 for the day's late games takes us to 3/4 for the day. If every day could have even half that strike rate, I'd be very happy. Bets: 13 Wins: 5 Staked: 260 Returned: 354 Profit: 194 S/R: 38.5%
Good start and early days yet. Will follow this with interest, as Tennis betting is something that is starting to interest me. :ok
  3. Re: Abandonments!!!!! Forecast remains bleak for jump racing fans By Racingpost.com staff5.42PM 3 FEB 2009 HEAVY snowfall and freezing temperatures will continue to disrupt the jump programme in Britain, with meetings as far ahead as Sunday under threat. The weather, which has already claimed Wednesday's fixture at Ludlow and forced an 8am inspection at Carlisle, is showing few signs of easing up with many racecourses under snow. RELATED LINKS

A 3pm inspection at Carlisle on Tuesday proved inconclusive and clerk of the course Andrew Tulloch said: "We'll have a look again at 8am on Wednesday. The going is heavy, soft in places and if we had another night like Monday night we'd be fine." Officials at both Kempton and Lingfield are predicting few problems ahead of their all-weather fixtures on Wednesday. Brian Clifford, Kempton's clerk of the course, said on Tuesday: "We have 20cm of snow on the track and we're blowing it off now. The sun is out which may help. "The road infrastructure for the vets and medical people is safe and the grandstandshave been cleared and gritted." Officials at Lingfield attempted a different tactic and left the snow on the track, with the hope that the sun would help thaw it. Clerk of the course Neil Mackenzie Ross said: "We'll leave the snow on the track until Wednesday, it's better to insulate it rather than remove it. We'll then lathe it off." There was mixed news for the jumps cards at Taunton and Huntingdon on Thursday. John Hills, managing director at Taunton, issued a positive bulletin and said: "From 3.00pm on Tuesday the course is raceable and we've had a complete thaw. There is not a spec of snow of the course, in the paddock or in the stands." Despite a similar outcome of the snow thawing at Huntingdon, clerk of the course Andrew Morris was less positive about the chances. "All the snow has gone but the track is frozen in places," he said. "There's no threat of snow just frost and it's forecast to get down to -2C on Wednesday evening. Unfortunately if the forecast is correct it's unlikely we'll be racing." Southwell and Wolverhampton supply the all-weather action on the same afternoon. Ed Gretton, clerk of the course at Bangor, which had an inch of snow on the track, said the chance of snow on Wednesday would be the biggest danger to the fixture on Friday. He said: "There was a slight thaw yesterday, but it's looking like cold temperatures for the next two nights with the possibility of snow tomorrow. It's a waiting game really, if the snow comes we'd call an inspection with the amount of snow already down." Kempton have had covers down since Saturday and will remove them on Thursday ahead of racing on Friday, while Fontwell, who also race on Friday, is fully thawed and raceable and Southwell and Wolverhampton expect no problemsfor their all-weather meetings. 3729.jpg Carlisle racecourse: 8am inspection PICTURE: Edward Whitaker Racing at Ayr, which came to the aid of more than 800 stranded British Airways passengers on Monday when the course acted as an emergency terminal after a Heathrow-bound flight was diverted to nearby Prestwick Airport, looks likely to take place on Saturday. Clerk of the course Katherine Self said; "I'm reasonably confident according to forecasts with not much snow and maybe just some rain." Saturday's fixture at Warwick is in more doubt with temperatures set to fall between-1C and -3C over the next few nights. Newbury's fixture the same day hangs in the balance although officials were optimistic on Tuesday evening. With the threat of disruptions for the weekend, the BHA has announced an extra meeting will take place at Wolverhampton on Saturday. Entries for the six-race card, which will start at 2.10, must be made by noon on Wednesday and declarations by 10am on Thursday. Katie Stephens of Hereford said ahead of Sunday's meeting: "We're covered in snow, it's thawing but the cold forecast is not going to help us." Prospects at Exeter on Sunday are a little better and clerk of the course Barry Johnson said yesterday: "I'm hopeful if the forecasts are right."

  4. Re: Bbotd feb 3rd

Riguez Dancer in the 4:40, does make a lot of appeal but at the price he is, I just cant have him Im afraid, ao Im looking elsewhere for my bbotd. 1:40 Southwell - World of Choice. 1pt win Has looked very much outpaced at the trips he has been running at on this course, before showing some sort of potential towards the end of the races, albeit from a distance. Taken from Racing Post. 13/12/08 Southwell, 8f, 5th of 7 13/01/09 Southwell, 7f, 5th of 7 Todays trip is 1m 3f, perhaps slightly longer than the ideal suggested distance, but certainly looks more ideal than the 7 and 8 f he has been running. The rest of the field looks pretty weak following the exclusion of the likely favourite Ready to Crown. The current general 4/1, is on the border of e/w value, and Im not going to take the chance on him falling in price, and becoming no value e/w, so therefore this is a 1pt win bet. ps, Hope this reasoning is suitable?
:nana:nana About time too!!!!! Must be about a year since my last bbotd winner :lol
  5. Re: Beat Victor 31/01/09

dont wanna rain on your parade, but he had a non runner in that race, and according to the rules his selection should there be a n/r goes on the sp fav. which in that race was herecomesthetruth, i checked cos i picked the horse aswell.
I figured that later last night, when reading the small print :rollin
  6. Re: Newbury Next Weekend (07th Feb)

Shame Mileni that your so far away' date=' Ive heard that Denman will be definetly going for the AON and listen to the other hopefuls heading for the AON; [b']Barbers Shop, Joe Lively, Albertas Run, Exotic Dancer, Madison De Burlais, An Accordion & Or Noir De Somoza, Air Force One, Snoopy Loopy, Trabolgan & Niche Market. Whast a race and hopefully the card will be fantastic. Lets hope the snow will stay away. And no inspections :hope
I'm sure I heard Air Force One and Albertas Run's preferred entry is the Irish Hennessy?? Still a quality field though...

World Of Choice never really got going and looks worth trying over1m2f.
    13/01/09 Southwell, 7f, 5th of 7
World Of Choice, who has dropped right down the ratings, kept on after being badly outpaced. He needs much further and is no forlorn hope.

  8. Re: Punchestown ~ 1st Feb 2009

Machine this one. Hope he goes for one of the races.
As long as the ground is good (on the soft side of good), Im quite sure he will be Ballymore bound. The Albert Bartlett was also a possibility, but that looks more likely to be where they will run Quiscover Fontaine. When you think they also have :- Cousin Vinny - Supreme Novices Hurricane Fly - Supreme Novices / Champion Hurdle Mourad - Triumph Kempes - Whatever race they choose. (most likely Ballymore) Its a pretty decent string, along with the list of fantastic bumper prospects, Mikael D'Haguenet could be the best of them all though....
  9. Re: Punchestown ~ 1st Feb 2009

A winner in Ireland on Sunday and properly ridden as well. This is a surprise :loon
:clap:clap Had a sh!t day myself :lol Mikael D'Haguenet easily obliged and looks a definite prospect (but still perhaps wont go to Cheltenham). Big Zeb fell when travelling supremely well. Had the beating of Mansony in my opinion. Whispering Hills was beaten by a shd hd in the bumper. :sad
  10. Re: 7 Bets per Day

Sunday 1/2/08 PUNCHESTOWN 1:25 - Mikael D'Haugenet Likely price will be around 1/4, but he is a genuine class act, and a definite Cheltenham contender, most likely in the Ballymore. Mullins novice hurdlers have been flying this campaign, and this race should be no exception. Already a Grade 1 winner (beating 2/7 shot Pandorama), and conceded weight in landing a Grade 2 from Western Charmer and Clan Tara LTO. 2:25 - Big Zeb Won LTO, beating 2 of his rivals here (Watson Lake and Mansony), when perhaps needing that run. Should improve further still here. ScotsIrish for me rates as the biggest danger, having been withdrawn from Thurles midweek, to race here. Big Zeb guaranteed to be odds on, but should be good enough to justify the odds. 4:35 - Whispering Hills This one goes in the bumper, and is one of only 2 horses in the race with any course experience, finishing 3rd LTO when gambled on from 12/1 down to 8/1. Made eye catching progress that day and looked one to be on the right side of next time out. Forecast at 7/2, so hopefully he will be no shorter than 3/1, and if showing the same promise as LTO, should definitely go close 3 x 6pt Singles 3 x 3pt Doubles 1 x 3pt Treble Total Staked = 30 Points
Another day, Another Big Loss I'm afraid. 2 days in and already a disturbing pattern emerging. Mikael D'Haugenet looks something else. What a horse he could turn out to be. Made a potentially smart rival look very ordinary indeed. Won @ 4/11 Big Zeb was going very well indeed, and looked as if he was ready to launch an assault on Mansony, and I firmly believe he would have gone onto win well had he not come crashing down two out, when coming to challenge. Travelled like a dream. Cheltenham backers will be a bit concerned by that error, especially so close to the festival where he wont have a run to put it right, so to speak. Fell @ 11/8 F My heart was in my mouth watching the Bumper, a very brave gutsy effort by Whispering Hills to try and overcome the potentially useful 5/4F. Will back him again next time out, as he showed massive battling qualities, but ultimately was beaten by a short head. 2nd @ 5/2 1 x 6pt win @ 4/11 = 8.18pts Staked = 30 pts Daily profit/Loss = -21.82pts Starting Bank 170 pts New bank 148.18 pts Profit/Loss = -51.82pts Very hopeful for tomorrow. :hope:hope
  11. Re: Best Bet Of The Day ~ Feb 1st 2:00 Musselburgh - Portavadie 0.5 pts E/W Winless for a number of years, but slowly but surely getting back to the sort of mark he last won off. What looks a trappy, but slightly weak contest, the top weight, but seemingly well treated (at last), selection can fill a place. (HOPEFULLY)

  13. Re: 7 Bets per Day What a sh!t day that was. Optimus Maximus disappointed, but the winner looked a decent prospect, and has boosted Zaynar's form ahead of the Triumph Hurdle. Araldur was most disappointing. Badly hindered when Pressgang went down, but was soon back in contention and on the bridle. Even when both Massini's Maguire and Buck The Legend faltered, he still couldn't finish ahead of either. 2 miles looks his limit. I didnt watch the 3rd race but I know McCoy didnt come home in front. Bad day all round, and I hope after a fairly succesful paper trial and a succesful first run on the forum a few days ago, that the thread wont go down the pan very quickly. Tomorrow's another day. 14. Re: Placepot Question???

Just foud a betting slip from 2007 :\ and i 2 selections in one race but won was unplaced and the other refused to race' date=' Does that mean the horse that refused goes onto the Favourite?????[/quote'] Doesnt matter if its a placepot, quadpot, single or the last leg of a 15 fold. If the horse has lined up at the start, and refuses to move once the tape has gone up, then its classed as a runner. Same way, if a horse on the flat refuses to come out the stalls. I have heard recently though, of a couple of companies voiding the bets in some instances though.
