Racing chat-Monday 21st April
WEIGHTWATCHER replied to yossa6133's topic in At The Races - Racing Forum
A very good morning to all. No joy for me yesterday in the UK or France but had been on a great run of general winners so that was coming. Going to have a little break from the daily posts to recharge my motivation and enthusiasm factors but will return when fully charged. If anyone wants some selections I am happy for them to message me while on my "holiday", as will still be keeping my finger on the pulse to some extent. Nothing of value in France for me today so it's all UK stuff today for a busy day of punting, the not so strong fancies I have not highlighted: Plumpton 2.00 LA DOLCE DOLLY e/w @ 7/1 (generally) 3 places โ each way placed 3rd Plumpton 2.35 ASTA LA PASTA @ 9/2 (generally) โ lost / shocking run Plumpton 3.45 ELYSIAN KNIGHT e/w @ 5/1 (hills/betfred) โ each way placed 2nd Plumpton 4.55 DICKENS @ 9/2 (hills/b365) โ well beaten Chepstow 2.24 SAGE GREEN e/w @ 5/1 (b365pp) 3 places โ each way placed 2nd Chepstow 4.07 SPEIRIUL e/w @ 11/2 (hills) 3 places โ lost Cork 1.50 THE VEGAS RAIDER e/w @ 16/1 (generally) 5 places โ lost Cork 4.45 CLOUDIO e/w @ 10/1 (generally) 3 places โ each way 2nd / returned 14/1 Cork 5.20 DORA d'Or e/w @ 11/2 (generally) 3 places โ lost And last but not least my ticket for the Irish National "Lottery" at Fairyhouse: Fairyhouse 5.00 FINAL ORDERS e/w @ 33/1 (ladbrokes) 5 places โ pulled up Will be back daily posting again pretty soon. Enjoy your bank holiday racing today, I know I will. TTFN. ๐๐ * Awful day to sign out with for a break but that's the way horse racing can go, maybe lady luck paid me back today for a fair amount of winners this month. Will come back refreshed when ready to bang in hopefully some more winners. Stay groovy chaps ๐๐ -

Good afternoon everyone. No luck on the UK jumps side yesterday with Flic Ou Voyou advised 15/2 each way (2nd) the best effort. Still turned out a great day though with my only French jumps selection ESCORT'JET (advised at 15/2) scoring nicely at Strasbourg at an even nicer return of 11/1 (well done if you followed). Slightly frustrated that I had the French winner with Elusiveness at Haydock for a nice double, but left it out of forum selections as was not convinced it would like the ground yesterday. As the French say c'est la vie. For today there is nothing I strongly fancy so will not highlight the selections to indicate that, these plays today will be SMALL and are mainly to have some sort of interest in the day: Plumpton 2.20 MISS FEDORA e/w @ 10/1 (generally) 2 places Race is probably way too strong for her but she confirmed liking for the course with another course and distance win last time out. Nice light weight with Ellis Collier again claiming 5lb so will give it an outside each way squeak for Seamus Mullins. Plumpton 4.05 AURIGNY MILL e/w @ 18/1 (ladbrokes price boost if you can get it) 3 places Another outside play but don't think this horse is a totally forlorn hope. Gave a lot of weight latest when beaten by Luttrell Lad, and previously beat Paso Doble when giving it a lot of weight albeit over a longer trip at Taunton. This is obviously a much stronger class 2 handicap hurdle than that one at Taunton but he is not badly handicapped and is of interest from at least an each way angle. * There are a couple of French selections up from Auteuil for whoever is interested. Best of luck with your bets today all. -
Morning all. One selection and one advised winner yesterday from Strasbourg, with ESCORT'JET advised at 15/2 doing the business for us at an even better returned price of 11/1. Two selections from me today for Auteuil, one may be a slightly stronger fancy than the other so I have kept the one more fancied in this bold text: Auteuil 4.00 EGERIE DU MATHAN e/w @ 5/1 (bet365) 3 places Auteuil 5.10 KEEP CALM DARIYAN e/w @ 12/1 (generally) 4 places

Great stuff mate and so right. Wish I had the mental aptitude of that fella. Even now I sometimes tell Mrs WW I lost a grand when the bet only cost me a fiver (lol). Definitely illustrates to me that I personally need a much better mental approach though probably bit late for that now (double lol).

Brilliant topic to bring up Mc. I too have struggled probably since I first ever started betting (a long time ago now!) to decipher what, if indeed is the best way to put my bets together to make the most out of when I win. Amazingly, after a not far now 40 years of punting I still struggle to decide when I have my final bets ready for the day what bets to put them in! Believe me I do not know the answer to your question singles or accumulators but I will be fascinated to see how this thread progresses and read everybody's thoughts on the subject. The only thing I do know for sure is the best single day win I ever had came from two horses with two singles and the win double covered. I think for me what bet/s you decide on in the end boils down to how many horses you think may win and more importantly what prices they are. I'm sure I echo this for a few punters on the forum but one thing I do know is sometimes I would have definitely hit the jackpot, IF I would have had a day with multiple winners in the right bet! If we all had crystal balls it would make his game so much easier eh. Great topic mate. I will keep an eye on this closely and hopefully I will learn something.

Thanks SC. Family life is way more important than betting my friend. You have my respects. Was even better though as had this winner with ELUSIVENESS that won at Haydock for a very nice winning double. However did not put that one up on the forum though as was not convinced it would act on today's ground but thankfully for me it did. ๐

For those who kept the faith in me today with our only French bet of the day, CONGRATULATIONS you have just bagged yourself a 15/2 advised winner with ESCORT'JET. Only better still it has returned at 11/1, and you should get BOG if you placed the bet with Bet365 as advised. ENJOY YOUR WINNINGS mon amis. HAPPY DAYS, rock on. ๐๐ -
Bonjour. For those who fancy chancing their arm this is my one outside squeak for today from Strasbourg over the sticks tonight: Strasbourg 6.32 ESCORT'JET e/w @ 15/2 (bet365) 4 places Not the strongest of handicap hurdles to finish the day's jumps action in France and there are mainly negatives against most of the runners in this race. The plus for the selection is it is still possibly feasibly treated on it's latest win albeit that was over fences. Was not disgraced last time it contested a hurdles race and would not have the worst chance in what does not look a very strong race in general. Au revoir until next time.

A poor day over the UK sticks for me but have been on a great run of late so no complaints whatsoever and there is always tomorrow (lol). Bluegrass made a howling mistake which put paid to his chance and Jet Legs used up all his gas before conking out at Carlisle. Where THE FLIER BEGLEY found the improvement today to trounce my each way selection FLIC OU VOYOU (advised at 15/2) by 6 lengths I am not that sure but fair play he put the opposition well to the sword. Impressive effort by the 10 year old, well done him (drat it). I will be putting up one outside selection that has a squeak over the jumps at Strasbourg tonight for anyone who wants to have a look, but it will not be highlighted as unfortunately not a strong play. Who knows, we could finish the day with a winner (but probably not). Again would not complain, been flying lately with the French jumps as well of late. Stay groovy chaps ๐ -
Haydock 3.15 SPYGLASS HILL @ 22/1 (betfair/pp) Thank you.

A good morning to all. Sad to see Fairyhouse yield to the excessive rain they had last night and the cancellation of that limits the day's bets for me sadly. Still, for what it's worth I am happy to put up these plays today for anyone who wishes to follow: Haydock 2.05 BLUEGRASS @ 7/2 (generally) Needs to take another step forward but is improving and that is certainly not out of the question. Haydock 3.15 FLIC OU VOYOU e/w @ 15/2 (generally) 3 places (would play in small straight forecasts with Dubai Days and Spyglass Hill for extra fun) Best race of the day for me and hoping ground will not ride too soft for the selection's liking, should go well otherwise. Carlisle 3.27 JET LEGS @ 3/1 (hills) Risky as only judged on latest winning run but looks to have near enough the same chance of a repeat to me today so fingers crossed for a decent effort at the least. I am considering an outside play on one in France and will let you all know if I feel it is worth a small punt. Best of luck all with your bets today. -
Newcastle 3.35 DAAMBERDIPLOMAT @ 40/1 (hills) Thank you.

Good morning everyone. A narrow defeat for Bethpage yesterday so we had to settle for a 10/1 each way second, and really think it may have been different had Ben Jones kept the horse much closer to the pace. Still, all if's and but's so on we go. Great day to be a synthetic fan and there should be betting opportunities a plenty for some of you out there, though finding your winners will be testing to say the least looking at the incredibly competitive cards. Unfortunately, my heart is just not in the flat racing so I will be concentrating on the cards for tomorrow and beyond with some possibly great jumping action lying ahead. Still, wish all you chaps the best of luck for today and I will no doubt be putting up jump selections tomorrow. With 5 jump meetings in the UK and a few jump races from 2 meetings in France there may be quite a few selections from me tomorrow, obviously providing I deem they have some sort of chance. Punt on my friends, punt on. ๐๐ -

Cracking effort by BETHPAGE (2nd) a 10/1 each way return for anyone who followed and money back with tiny bit extra. Bit frustrated though as Ben Jones got the horse going way too late IMHO. -

Good morning all. Was delighted yesterday with a 17/2 advised winner RISKINTHEGROUND and a 15/2 each way place in the same race with Bhaloo, only the Mullins horse O'Moore Park denying us a nice reverse forecast to boot. Yesterday was not easy to nail a winner at decent odds and today will be even harder, there are too many negatives against a lot of the horses who may have outside squeaks. To avoid a totally blank selection day I will chance my arm in the one race but as the selections are not strong fancies I have not highlighted my betting advice on the selections today: Cheltenham 2.45 BETHPAGE e/w @ 10/1 (betfred) 5 places Cheltenham 2.45 BATWOMEN e/w @ 9/1 (generally) 5 places (will be playing cheeky small reverse forecast on both) ** Cheltenham 2.45 JENA D'OUDAIRIES @ 13/2 (betfred/hills) (replacement reverse forecast with Bethpage) Very hard race to call with any number of horses holding chances but hopefully either or both will run with some credit. Best of luck all with your bets today. ** Batwomen is unfortunately a non runner so have replaced it with another. -

A lovely advised 17/2 winner with RISKINTHEGROUND, O'Moore Park denies us the reverse forecast with Bhaloo (3rd). Still, profit and winners. That's what it's all about. Hope some of you were on. ๐ -

A very good morning to all. We very rarely enjoy really good days with our racing but yesterday was a cracker, between the jumpers in France and UK we had four winners at 10/3, 8/1. 13/2 and 4/1 along with each way placed selections at 18/1, 13/2 and 8/1. I take no shame in repeating as I think you should enjoy your ups, as there are certainly enough downs with betting horses. Anyway, on to today and Cheltenham is going to be difficult to nail a winner at but we'll give it our best shot. These are my plays today, highlighted text is what I feel MIGHT be the stronger bets: Cheltenham 2.05 REALLYNTRUTHFULLY e/w @ 16/1 (b365) 4 places (play with Typhoon Flyer/ small optional cover in a reverse forecast) You could also throw Ballytechno firmly into the mix but that needs to prove it's fitness is cherry ripe after 108 days off the track. Typhoon Flyer must prove it stays every yard of the trip but both these horses are probably better handicapped than the selection who should have no stamina issues and is improving. Cheltenham 2.40 BHALOO e/w @ 15/2 (generally) 3 places RISKINTHEGROUND @ 17/2 (hills) (play reverse forecast on both) Selection fancied to confirm previous running with the Skelton horse (beat it by 5 lengths) though still think Riskintheground is enough of a threat to cover as well. Classic Getaway cannot be ignored for the Mullins Machine after landing a Grade 2 chase at Gowran Park latest. Cheltenham 3.50 ZAIN NIGHTS e/w @ 13/2 (hills) 3 places (play reverse forecast with Samuel Spade) Not a confident selection but a squeak IF repeating the form of his latest win at Newbury, Samuel Spade is a definite outside danger but needs a bit more on his last effort at Uttoxeter. Ffos Las 6.45 EL GRANJERO @ 4/1 Actually a pretty good price to me at the moment in not the strongest of races today at the scenic Welsh track (been there). Hopefully the claim of Ned Fox will be beneficial in the horse going one better today after a hat trick of runner up spots (could have that dreaded second-itis disease though). Best of luck all, with your bets today. * No French jump selections today as nothing strong enough for me to put up from Fontainebleau unfortunately. -
A very good morning to you Emilia. It's great to see someone else going for a selection from France, sometimes there is great value to be had over there and the bookies are not quite so savvy when pricing up their races at first. Lee-Grays and myself love the French racing (especially the jumps for me). Best of luck with your selection from there today. ๐ค

Denied a five timer by easy winner Uokhun but still a terrific day. Between the UK and France FOUR advised winners at 10/3, 8/1, 13/2 and 4/1 along with each way advised horses at 18/1, 13/2 and 8/1. Quite a day and DEFINITELY a good day to have followed, very well done if you did (hope one or two of you really cashed in today). Back tomorrow with hopefully more jump selections with meetings from Cheltenham (two televised races) which looks very difficult and Ffos Las, along with Fontainebleau in France. ๐๐๐ -

Winner number four with AAZZA advised at 4/1 (returned 4/1). Skelton horse finished with a fair rattle to deny us the forecast as well with Pipers Cross but what a day. Hope some of you followed. One selection left to go today. ๐๐
