  1. Can't fault you Mc, I quite often listen to the racing with a cuppa and a digestive. T.E. is right it's nice when it goes your way but I find it incredible how many times it goes the other way. I know it's saved the bookies thousands from me over the years.
  2. The problem with watching your race I used to get was watching my horse so many times slowly getting there, and then just still getting pipped literally on the line so my frustration would build and build. With listening to it you are still annoyed of that happens to you but don't find it quite as bad as actually watching it slowly unfold. It was unreal how many seconds I would pick on the flat racing with them nearly always failing by a nose, short head, head or neck. Absolutely ground me down in the end.
  3. Normally Will Hill or sometimes Paddy Power on the odd occasion. Think you hit the nail on the head there though T.E with what you said. When you watch the race you generally know your fate a lot sooner than if you listen to a race where to me I just get that bit more excitement from until they have called the winner. It's all personal preference though I guess.
  4. Will let you know something T.E. that I have never said on the forum, but I only ever watch a race now as a review for future reference purposes. A long time ago a horse of mine was hit on the line for a pretty big pay out on the flat and after bad reaction to it which my wife said was not good (did cost me a lot though) I realised she was totally right. From there I started just listening to commentary of races rather than watching them and have enjoyed it win or lose a hell of a lot more since.
  5. A 4/1 advised flat winner with ANTIQUITY (returned 5/1). Well done if you followed.
  6. To be honest T.E, knew Basman Prince if not getting the trip would obviously not win, and only put the one in Ireland in as my NAP as a total shot in the dark. Just listened to race in Ireland and jockey had it plum last and never got involved so not a surprise. Just hoping there is some decent jumps fayre on the weekend to go at.
  7. Fair play, just did not get the trip. Was a major concern, but onward with a few flat plays: Nottingham 4.05 ANTIQUITY @ 4/1 (generally) Catterick 4.13 COCONUT BAY @ 5/1 (generally) Nottingham 5.05 EPIMETEO e/w @ 18/1 (coral/hills) 3 places Why not eh, it's all good fun isn't it.
  8. Afternoon all. Another narrow loss for the selection yesterday (Imperial Jade, beaten short head) and there is little to recommend today as a really solid bet. There are two jumps races in France at Nantes but they too unfortunately do not look great betting events. There will be some nice stuff to come on the weekend with the Scottish National so I would keep stakes very small today anyway. The only bet I would play today is not strong, hence no highlighting of selections but this is what it would be: Taunton 2.25 BASMAN PRINCE @ 11/4 (hills) Trainer said step up in trip helped last time out so they have stepped it up in trip again today (also said quicker ground beneficial for it too). Hopefully jockey will be patient on it and I think IF it stays the trip today it is weighted to go very close. Would cover this one in two doubles with both Tiny Tetley and Florencethemachine in the 4.25 as IF it does win you would be looking at either a just over 7/1 or 9/1 win double. Hopefully better stuff to come at the end of the week though. Good luck to anyone who plays today.
  9. Leopardstown 2.48 SOLAR BREEZE @ 22/1 (BETFRED) Thank you.
  10. Yesterday it was a head, today it's more like a short head that denies the selection. Still, surprised Imperial Jade could not get the job done at a short price. All part of the game.
  11. Carlisle 3.50 IMPERIAL JADE @ 5/4 (generally) Thank you.
  12. Morning all. A cruel bob of the heads cost us yesterday with Ganapathi (2nd), but it was a nice day in France with two winners at Compiegne hitting the net at 8/1 and 6/1, accompanied by two each way placed horses also at 6/1 from five selections so not too shabby. No jumps in France today unfortunately, and only Carlisle going on the UK front which also sadly offers up little to nothing in the way of a decent price wager to get my teeth into today. However, for those who would just like a possible winner today (and not hung up on price) I will point you in direction of just one horse today: Carlisle 3.50 IMPERIAL JADE @ 5/4 (generally) Actually surprised this horse is slightly not odds on for this contest today and has an outstanding chance of bringing up the hat trick after victories at Doncaster and Huntingdon. Yes, it only narrowly won a lower graded contest latest when outbattling Our Pink Lady but l actually thought that was a decent performance giving the runner up loads of weight. Previously with things in her favour she put Diamond Korda to the sword by 13 lengths to start her winning run and I think connections will be very disappointed if she does not keep it going today. Likely to play "catch me if you can" with David Bass again on board she has a decent enough weight with ground and trip not a problem so it's difficult to not see a big run.
  13. More gutted about Kaolin nabbed at the line by Gilou Cat in France who came with a wet sail to deny me a treble and a very nice payday. Still outside chance of landing a treble though with only pick at Toulouse today so who knows. Not without a squeak that selection.
  14. Gutted for me, gutted for Ganapathi. Agonisingly close again to victory, how game was Half Shot. Never mind advised each way so no money lost, rough and smooth eh chaps. Definitely rough and smooth with fourth selection in France nabbed near the line for second as well (so near to a lovely treble with two winners in bag already). DOUBLE DRAT. Last selection in France also came second unfortunately but as the other runner up previously was advised each way. So from the five French selections we had two winners at 8/1 and 6/1, two each way placed (both 2nd) at 6/1 and the other unplaced. Pretty good going.
  15. Oooh la la. A French jumps double for those who followed with LACCIO CONTI (advised 6/1) toughing it out for victory over in France at Compiegne, returned 4/1 but followers should have the better odds with Bet365 BOG. Still two advised selections to go as well but already a very nice day. Hope some of you were on.
  16. A rather nice start to the day with the first advised bet over in France GIACOSA (advised @ 8/1) going in at Compiegne, returned at 7/1 so I hope anyone who followed got the better odds. Can't be too bad a day now whatever. If you followed... ENJOY THOSE WINNINGS.
  17. Good afternoon T.E. my friend. It is the best jumps race today to have a bet in IMHO today, and as ever with as any horse race no result would surprise me. Should be an interesting watch.
  18. Kelso 3.15 GANAPATHI @ 7/1 (betfred) Thank you.
  19. Morning all. No joy yesterday in France so on to today where we have some jumps interest to play from both Compiegne and then Toulouse later on over the jumps. These are mine for today, I have highlighted the ones I feel are the bets with the stronger chances: Compiegne 12.55 GIACOSA e/w @ 8/1 (bet365) 5 places Compiegne 1.30 UNDENIABLE ALIBI @ 4/1 (bet365) Compiegne 2.05 LACCIO CONTI (otb) e/w @ 6/1 (bet365) 3 places Compiegne 3.15 KAOLIN e/w @ 6/1 (bet365) 5 places Toulouse 6.47 LE CAULE e/w @ 6/1 (bet365) 2 places Bon luck mon amis.
  20. Morning all. A lovely 7/1 advised winner yesterday with THE MIRACLE MAN, and a 9/2 each way placed effort for a decent profitable Sunday and so on to today. Only one UK meeting today over the sticks from Kelso and only one race that I fancy a tickle in so this is my play for today with brief comments: Kelso 3.15 GANAPATHI e/w @ 6/1 (bet365) 3 places BREAKDANCE KID (otb) @ 10/3 (betfair/pp) (reverse forecast on both with Bet365 pays just over 23/1 and 27/1 at time of posting) Only race of interest today for me over the jumps and do think forecast favourite at time of posting Cadell can be "got at". It only won narrowly last time out and looks to have more on his plate today at the weights so happy enough to chance some cash elsewhere in the race. Ganapathi is a 9 year old who takes on some younger rivals here but deserves to get his head in front after two great efforts of late giving weight to both Hello Judge and Red Happy in gallant defeats. As mentioned previously do like Danny McMenamin and maybe this change of jockey from Ryan Mania will help the horse actually get his head in front this time. Breakdance Kid needs to come back to form which makes him an (otb / not strong) selection for me, but is on a decent mark from his last chase win and may be worth a small single saver and reverse forecast play with Ganapathi. * Posted early hours so prices may be better come BOG from 8 am with some firms. * French jumps selections also posted for anyone who is interested.
  21. No luck for me in France. But, take a bow Mr Lee-Grays. Had the winner of the cross country chase at Le Lion D'angers in his bet today with GEMINI D'AX at 10/1. But it returned at a fantastic 18/1. Very well done with that winner Lee. Great call.
  22. A lovely 7/1 advised winner with THE MIRACLE MAN and a 9/2 each way placed with one to go. A nice day regardless of what else.
  23. Bonjour all. Four winners (7/4, 7/2, 11/4 and 13/2) in the last three French jumping posts and try as I may to resist the action at Le Lion D'angers today, there is one race I just have to try a SMALL play in. Race number five the cross country chase looks a cracker to me, and from more of an each way perspective than win bet there is one I will chance as an outside play today. This is my summary with brief comments: Le Lion D'angers 5.27 KANELLE COLLONGES e/w @ 17/2 (generally) 3 places (very small reverse forecast with Je Suis Divin pays just over 14/1 and 18/1 with Bet365) JE SUIS DIVIN @ 13/8 (generally) Will put this one up with the fancied Je Suis Divin for two reasons, firstly there is a possibilty that this girl is better suited to more of a stamina test than she was getting previously. Her last win was over a trip a bit further than today and was a marked improvement on previous efforts on ground similar than what she should have today. Secondly, is she is obviously still well weighted but reason being is that the task she faces today against this opposition is poles apart from her latest run but I hope the decent mark will count for something. This is pretty open but Je Suis Divin could be incredibly hard to beat I feel so rates as both a cover single, and to have in a reverse forecast with our much more ambitious outsider.
  24. Fairyhouse 4.12 THE MIRACLE MAN @ 7/1 (betfred) Thank you.
  25. Morning all. No joy yesterday but thanks to one nice priced winner on Friday (advised 35/1 shot SHE'S A SAINT) which certainly was, we made overall 16 points profit on the three day National Aintree meeting with just one winner. And on to today where as my horses are not fancied strongly as I would like, I have not highlighted them to indicate that to anyone who wishes to consider them. These are my bets for today with brief summaries: Fairyhouse 2.35 BALLYGUNNER CASTLE e/w @ 9/2 (generally) 3 places Great day for the Mullins maestro yesterday and he has a fair chance of striking again with this fella who should find trip and ground much to his liking today with main pilot Townend flying the plane. Wingmen of Elliott's is an obvious danger dropping down in company for today's contest. Fairyhouse 4.12 THE MIRACLE MAN e/w @ 7/1 (betfred) 4 places Went mighty close last time out and weighted to possibly go one better today, Born Bright is also fairly well handicapped but is possibly opposable to me in this race. Ffos Las 4.40 COPPER JACK @ 10/3 (generally) Won well last time out and drying ground at Ffos Las a plus for it today, will be difficult to stop if in same mood for today's assignment. Best of luck to anyone who plays today. * There is an advised French jumps bet up for anyone who is interested, going well on the French front lately with four winners in the last three French jumps reviews.
