Punters Lounge is pleased to continue for December with our £150 added Poker League.  We run on Wednesday nights starting at 8.10pm, with a 20min late registration period on top of this.  All games are played in the PokerStars Home Games PL Poker Club. 
This month we are again trialing a bounty game in our format in Leg 2.  League points will be calculated only on finishing position, and bounty payouts will be made according to PokerStars normal rules.  This month is a Progressive Bounty (your own bounty increases by 50% of the bounties you collect).  We will review popularity of the two formats after this.  Leg 1 and 4 are standard NLHE, and Leg 3 is our PLO Leg.

To help boost numbers overall and in particular in the final leg we are continuing the system of doubling the number of entries used in the calculation in leg 4 (**so if 10 entries the formula will use 20 entrants). This will increase the number of points available in the final leg to make it more competitive.
All members are welcome, however you must post in this thread if asked to let us know your forum username, otherwise your placings and scores cannot be included in the league.  New players are always welcome to join in, so please spread the word and invite your friends so we can keep the weekly numbers up.

League Table

Well done to muttley, winner of the PLO leg for the second month running with PotRooster in 2nd place.
It's all very close at the top of the league table. Another good finish for Ian puts him in the lead going into the final leg, but with extra points at stake next week it's going to be an exciting finish.  It's back to NLHE with a 5000 chip decider.

Next week we are trying out a new format with a bounty game.  This month it will be a standard bounty, so $2.50 of the buy-in is on your head and will be won by the person who knocks you out.  For league points, only your finishing position will be relevant (not prize/bounty money won).  Game is set up and ready to register for the early birds.

League Table

 

What a close run finish we've had this month. Any one of the top 6 in tonight's leg could have made it on to the podium and in the end just over 50 points separated the top 5 in the league.
The power of the final leg points muliplier came into play with a win tonight for thebestthere lifting them into the podium positions in 3rd  .  
Ian309 completed a solid month of finishes to take the runner up league position    and muttley's excellent month of top finishes continued and makes him our league champion
Great turnout all month, thank you to everyone who came along and played.  Next month we're going to try something different in leg 2 with a bounty game (only positions will count towards the league, bounties are the fun bonus). Hope you'll all give it a try.

Both Paul and Ian now setting themselves up for a strike at Gemic's top position in our final leg.  Dan and Xcout not out of it with no points to drop in week 4 and others not far behind in the chase for the podium.

Morning Everyone
It has taken me 4 weeks to even come and visit the site, as many of you know and many do not, I have known Paul some 30 years and in that time got to know a man who was selective about the people he chose to be in his life, he loved his punters lounge guys and girls and the numerous poker nights and race days he took great joy and pride in to know he created that, I was more a friend away from this site because truth be told gambling is not my thing as @StevieDay1983 will tell you with my horrendous premier league tips, I am actually very proud of what Paul achieved here and have told him that several times, you all should be proud to because you have help this great creation, on a more personal note I will miss my friend no no my brother, i loved the way he would tell it to me straight if I was being a d**k, also loved the way I could tell him that also, I have spent many a night in the pub (that will surprise you all  watching mostly football and for a Leeds lad he backed me up whenever I was watching Manchester United in mainly Arsenal pubs in London, away from pubs we would often discuss matters of life always with a sarcastic sense of humour attached to it, I was with Paul a lot over the last months and I would like you all to know that genuinely he did not lose that sarcastic sense of humour he was known for, one of lifes very very good guys, I love ya Paul 

I'm not actually against late reggers per se, but it does seem to go on for too long. The 10 min rule seems way too short to me. What time did registration actually close? Maybe we should introduce a rule where anyone who doesn't register by the first break, isn't eligible for points in the league?

Just realised I had not set up the tournament.   However I am a believer that if sometimes you wait rather than rush in, things will change for the better, and I am pleased to say that PokerStars have added an option to adjust the late registration period!! We can have 0, 2, 4 or 6 levels, with our current setting of 'regular' speed this is 10min levels, so I have selected 2 levels which gives us 20mins late reg as I had suggested anyway. 
So game is set up and registering, hopefully see you there tonight .

Helen returned home on Wednesday this week and is now undergoing a period of rest and recuperation.

Ok guys, I am back home after 2 weeks in hosp and will update the league table over this weekend once I feel up to getting my laptop going again.  Apologies,  it's not a shared document and is a bit of a dinosaur so unless I could get to it to send to someone it would be difficult for anyone to replicate.
Thank you to those ever presents who have supported the league without reminders and posted the results. Whilst it shows me that posting a reminder, particularly on facebook, is worth the time spent, it also highlights that most people are not that bothered about the weekly game per se.
I'm also sad that this thread developed into a bun fight. I will come back to the issues we need to address when I'm up to it. 

 
 

Just a quick update. Helen’s recovery is continuing nicely and, whilst she is currently still in hospital, we are hopeful she will be home early next week.

A few observations.....
Point 1. I'm not an online player. Most of my modest successes have come from live tourneys, in fields of 100-300 players, with buy ins of a few hundred pounds. In these comps I believe I have a decent edge, As such, it is of no advantage to register late, so I always ensure I start as soon as possible. As far as I'm concerned, anyone entering the comp 1 or 2 hours later is playing sub-optimally, as they are missing out on the chance to win chips from the weaker players early on. So entering asap is optimal, and late reggers are playing this tourney sub-optimal.
Point 2. The PL League has a very generous £150 added to it, which, for a $5, is enormous, especially as the field is so small. In fact, it's usually the only online tourney I play all week. It's a bit of fun, right? There's some banter, and we get to meet up once in a while for some more banter and a few beers.
Now suppose I was a volume player and wanted to abuse the goodwill of the PuntersLounge team, here's what I'd do (not suggesting anyone is doing this). I'd register as late as possible and play shit or bust. If I get knocked out early I've only invested $5 and 5 minutes of my time, so no big deal.
As I stated earlier, I am not against late registration per se, but we could be open to abuse at some point, so we do need to talk about it.
Out of interest, is there an option on PokerStars for no late registration ? This option, plus an 8.10pm start would be my preference.

A few interesting facts about tonight's tourney :
i) There were 12 players and it lasted 2 hours and 6 minutes, although the HU was prolonged when Barry rivered quad aces 
ii) If you sit out from the very beginning, with this structure it takes just 43 minutes to blind out - although you *were* six-handed for most of it Helen.
iii) We had two delayed reggers, one after 20 minutes, the other after 45 minutes (and four had already busted out)
iv) Both delayed reggers made the top three, the cash and the big points... maybe that's just a coincidence ?
