So as lockdown continues, Punters Lounge continues to treat you by again  :cheers DOUBLING :cheers our normal monthly added value to £300 for our poker league in May.

The league runs for 4 legs on Wednesday nights, starting time is 8.10pm, with a 10 minute late registration period on top of this.  All games are played in the PokerStars Home Games PL Poker Club.  We have a PLO leg in week 3 with the other 3 legs NLHE. 

 > Leg 1 : Wednesday 6th May at 20.10 BST in the PL Poker Club Home Game.

 > Leg 2 : 13th May

 > Leg 3 : 20th May - PLO Leg

 > Leg 4 : 27th May - double entrants in formula *

Buy in is $5.50 per leg.

Your top 3 scores of the 4 legs will count towards your league total. We will be using the usual PL league format, which will be updated in this thread. (The PokerStars own league scores will not be used.) Formula is -Log(position/Entrants)x100

To help boost numbers overall and in particular in the final leg we are continuing the system of doubling the number of entries used in the calculation in leg 4 ( * so if 12 entries the formula will use 24 entrants). This will increase the number of points available in the final leg to make it more competitive.

All members are welcome, however you must post in this thread if asked to let us know your forum username, otherwise your placings and scores cannot be included in the league.  Please spread the word and invite your friends so we can get the weekly numbers to keep this league viable.  New players always welcome to join in.

£300 Added Value

£250 of the added value will be split between the top 3 players at the league end, with £125 to the league champion, £75 to 2nd and £50 to 3rd. 

Plus I am placing a weekly £10 bounty on my head (PL-AvonGirl).  If I win my own bounty or fail to play a leg the additional money will be added to the Bad Beat pool explained below in the form of a further prize.

The remaining £10 (or additional £10's) will be paid to the worst Bad Beat(s) of the four weekly legs which are posted in this thread. To claim, you must post a screenshot of the showdown making it clear the hands involved.  The judge's (my) decision is final and the £10 will be awarded to the worst beat in my opinion, and not necessarily wholly limited to the odds at the time, although this is most likely provided I can work them out. :lol

All added amounts will be payable via PayPal at the end of the league.  Big thank you to SirPuntalot and Punters Lounge for the added funds.  The league winner will also get Punters Lounge merchandise. See below.

Pokerstars is having issues with late registration today, they cancelled a few tourneys and this is also affecting home games.

I'm currently playing a home game which is 8max and the late reg has been open for an hour now. When it got down to 8 players it just played with two tables of 4 and then merged to a final table of 7 and then someone else joined and it's now changed back to two tables. 6 people are paid, so I think late reg is just going to be open until the money is hit.

I think this is going to affect the Punter Lounge home game too, just giving you a heads up.

Edit - it just closed the reg when it got down to 7 left, so it looks like late reg ends when the bubble is reached.

Thanks for the warning, we'll see what happens. The lobby still says 10 mins so ? it's ok and if not, at least it's a restricted registration list with it being in the Club.

First of all. if you win the tourney then you should win the bounty!

 

Secondly, would it be better if the bounty changed each week? My suggestion would be to put it on the previous weeks winner.

Just to point out, it is a disadvantage to be a bounty, especially when the bounty is so big relative to the buy-in. It seems unfair that the same player should have the burden of being the target every week.

I agree with Paul that you should be able to win the bounty Helen if you win the tournament. 

As for the idea of rotating the bounty and it being the previous week's winner this could become complicated for insistence when I go back to work I might only be free to play on one Wednesday evening a month , whereas Helen is consistently in the games. That said for this month it would probably work and I don't mind being the bounty next week 

Also while it does have some disadvantages to being the bounty it's not all negative , if your making good hands will be easier to chip up as people will risk it more for the bounty of course if not making hands is harder to bluff it just changes to dynamic.

I didn't mean to push the bounty onto you! We should probably get some sort of consensus before changing things around.

Maybe if the bounty was picked at random once the registration has closed?

Some years ago a local casino used to have a Mystery Bounty, so no-one knew who the bounty was. It could only be won by someone who had registered at the start and would roll over. I won it one week for 500 quid!

Any luck Fader? Someone else recently wasn't able to get the Poker Stars download to work, not sure if it was a firewall issue. Personally, if I just go to pokerstars.uk I get a download button but for some reason they weren't seeing it.

Bounty query, thanks for the input Paul and Dan :ok

My reasoning is that this is only for the duration of the extra added value, so is only short term. The extra money allowed me to put a good increase into the league leaving a little left over for this.  I don't intend to withdraw money from our standard £150 added to continue it. 

I just did it with me as bounty, and that I couldn't win my own, because as PL admin I was giving something back to the members, especially as I'd managed to place in the league a few times recently. I didn't want to force it onto to someone else, (eg. last week's winner) as it does potentiallty change the dynamics of your game, and it wouldn't be fair to affect people's chances of winning the league prizes either one way or another. (It doesn't change my game, other than trying not to give it to Dan again!)   Also the potential problem of the bounty not playing the following week. 

No-one was more surprised than me that I did technically win my bounty one week, but in my position I would have been very uncomfortable taking the money, especially as I wasn't giving anyone else the chance to be bounty! :lol

Ah OK, I see the download button but when I click, I get a cookie error, but it downloads fine on my laptop and if i cleared my cache and cookies im sure it would be OK. All downloaded on my laptop now, so I will be in the next leg :)

oh actually i've never played omaha in my life. perhaps 4th leg :D
