The last time that Harmony Lil ran. (LTO) ,it ran to a speed figure of 87. That figure is arrived at by comparing the time the horse took to complete the race with a standard time given for the race, taking into account lots of other info like age, going, distance etc etc etc. The horse that won the race only ran a LTO speed figure of 49 but had ran a best speed figure of 80. I suppose Taylor was thinking that Harmony Lil was running a race under similar conditions to the last race it ran,so had a good chance of winning seeing as it had the highest speed figure.
If I've spouted a load of rubbish, I hope someone will correct me.

I think I get it now - thank you!

Not sure what you are asking, for me LTO relates to the finishing position last time out.
ie: Form 2651 = 1st last time out
Thanks, I thought that's what it meant, but there was some conflicting info.
For example, on Laurence Taylor's Speed Ratings, he gives the horse Harmony Lil a LTO of 87 - how does he come up with that number?
-
I have been trying to find out what LTO means and I can't find a clear explanation anywhere.
Can anyone help me with my question please?
Thank you!

Boom - Iva Reflection comes in at 15.0
how did you ever pick that horse, it wouldn't have been an obvious choice to me.... apart from Hollie Doyle riding.

Great thread, your picks are superb. Thanks for sharing with us.

It reminds me a lot of a game of amusement arcades at the end of piers. When I was a kid they were tuppence a go.
You can still do 2p bets at bet365. You'd become equally rich.
Bet365 do 2p bets? ?

There’s actually an app which some scaffolder told me about. You basically play about with stocks/shares with fake money. It enables you to get the hang of it, and can also show you what’s best to invest into. I’ve not tried it out but he said it was fun and helpful .
That sounds like a great idea. I had a look around and https://www.howthemarketworks.com/ seems the be the most popular and best rated.

Not sure I'd be skilled enough to want to spend £12.50 on a trade. ?

I mostly stick to FTSE350 stocks but even these can be volatile. I had a punt on some AIM stocks when there was no horse racing going on and did very well. I bought GREATLAND GOLD at 5p and it's now 32p. Also had a couple of virus stocks, SYNAIRGEN went from 30p to £2 in one day but has since fallen to 77p after the news of the vaccine. Not for the faint hearted. I have been on one of the share forums, it is quite brutal at times, PL is much friendlier !
What site or app do you use to buy stocks?
-
I don't think you can do anything about it, sorry mate. Gamstop wouldn't be that effective if there was.
-
William Hill accept a minimum of 5p bets. This is the lowest that I know of.

Which particular sites are you referring to?
Personally I prefer to make my own ratings rather than follow somebody else.
I get ratings from a site advancedratings.net
If I knew how to make my own ratings I would, any tips on how you do this would be appreciated..
What apps or websites, apart from Racing Post, do you use?
I am very keen to learn.
Thanks!

Interesting thread this.
What do you all think about sites that offer a spreadsheet or pdf sheets of horse ratings?

Sorry just seen your post. Bad Company didn't meet the selection criteria on more than one count. I see it won though. hope you backed it.
No, but I wish I did! That's always the way. I didn't have any bets in for that race, but was watching it on my way home.
-
Hi Ralphie,
Why didn't you choose a horse such as Bad Company for today?
I'm not doubting your choices - it's your thread - but I'm trying to work out your thinking behind your selections.
Best wishes.

BAGS and SIS are just 2 different suppliers of the same product (British greyhound racing). Each will have different tracks contracted to them to supply the racing.
As for track bias... this can happen when the weather is extreme, warmer weather dries the tracks out, wet weather makes it sloppy and testing (just like horse racing etc). This can lead to a bias which 'favours' either the inside or outside of the track.
I would recommend focusing on one particular track for starters, you will get to know the dogs and the trainers better. Whichever track you choose, remember the old saying.."early pace wins the race", as most races are won by the dog that leads at the 1st bend.
Thanks Bang On!

This is splendid. I now have new information on what to look for. Do you by chance have a tipping page/telegram/twitter? Thanks.
IMO I would advise against paying for tips on the likes of Telegram or Facebook Messenger. Majority of them are scammers who manipulate their profit and loss figures. Loads of brilliant free tips on here from a lot of very knowledgable people.

I have found it beneficial to look at what other people tip and then look at the race card and try to work out why they have tipped that horse. Look at that specific horse's previous runs, previous handicaps (if applicable) and compare to the handicap they are running under on the given day. Look at the age compared to other horses, the jockey, the trainer. There is a lot to take into consideration.
Is there a site that will alert me when a certain jockey or trainer has a horse running?

Timeform has a great feature where you can add certain horses to a tracker and then get alerted when the horse is running.
Is there any website, like Timeform, that will let me know when a certain jockey or trainer has a horse running?
