  1. Hi guys,

I want to go either with Tsonga to beat Gerasimov or with Svitolina to beat Badosa. Both at ~ 1.63.

Tsonga has not been being in a good form so far but my reasoning is that he performs well on grass and Gerasimov is in a decline and, generally, not good on grass.

Svitolina lost her first grass match of this year. Her being pretty good on grass, Badosa having not outplayed any top player on this surface are my arguments for Svitolina.

    Any ideas/advices on these?

  2. Pella to beat Giron @1.43 unibet

Pella is a player with clay pedigree. 2020 was a bad year for him and 2021 did not start in the best possible way either. However, looking back in 2019, we can see that he can play very, very well on clay. In the last match he overpassed Gallan Riveros, who had himself a good season so far. I’ll take that as a sign that he is ready and prepared for the next match.

Giron does not seem, according to results, to bloom on clay. He’s got very few wins over clay courters (Andujar and Monteiro).

Not saying that 1.43 is a big value. Just thinking that Pella will do his job smoothly tomorrow.

  3. What do you thing, guys, about the first win of Medvedev at FO? I know it's not his surface but Bublik is not a clay courter, neither. I'm think that the overall better "class" of Medveded will help him edge this. Also, Bublik might get frustrated with the russian's game style.

Just thinking that 1.4 - 1.5 is a good price for the world's number 2.

  4. Hey guys. Advice needed.

In your opinion, regardless of the odds, who has better chances? Korda to beat Nishioka (Parma clay) or Lajovic to beat Andrej (Belgrade clay)?

I'd prefer Lajovic because of playing in his native country on his "native" surface and because of a long losing strike on clay lately. He might be hungry of getting some wins.

Regarding Korda - Nishioka. American has better results on clay overall but Nishioka is able to cause some upsets as well.

  5. Cilic to beat Borges Nuno at 1.52 with Unibet

Cilic succeeded to pass over Alcaraz yesterday, being considered an underdog. He persevered in the 3rd set after losing the 2nd 1:6. That is important and shows that he has interest in staying in this tournament.

Borges seems to love clay and has won many games in challengers/ITFs. He even suceeded to beat Thompson and Carballes Baena. Will he have all it takes to beat Cilic? I don't think so.

  6. Don't get why bookers offer ~2.2 on the win of Thompson over Borges Nuno.

Well, I get that clay is not the favourite surface of Thompson, but, still, Borges Nuno has played only in challengers so far and is 331 ATP.

Have no clue if Thompson will be motivated to stay in the tournament for at least a couple of games but, as preparation for Madrid, Rome... he might put some effort.

    Quote from Flashscore Tennis Preview

Paire did not show any intent to win matches in almost all his previous nine matches of the 2021 season, and he even admitted that he enters tournaments only to collect the first-round prize money.“I lost in the first round, it’s better, I will be able to get out of the bubble quickly and enjoy a few days before Miami. Tennis is not my priority at the moment. Getting out of the bubble is the only goal I have at every tournament," he said after exiting from the first round in Acapulco last month.

Benoit Paire is by far the talented player of these two, but his lack of motivation in recent months should give Federico Gaio a lot of encouragement heading into this clash.

    I've read that :)

Still, Miami and Acapulco have passed. This is another tournament (closer to his home). He has won a few doubles. Even if he said that a few weeks ago, I expect him to want to start winning once. Otherwise, he will drop soon so low, that no tournaments will invite him any more and no money will be available to collect.

Obviously, no bankers on this game :)

  8. Barcelona ATP

Paire to beat Gaio @1.78 unibet

Having won a few games in doubles (with Mannarino) to qualify to main draw, I hope there will be motivation for Paire to play.

5:0 for him in first round of Barcelona ATP. 1 win over Gaio in 2015 (not so important). Former semifinalist.

This guy is a joke and unpredictable but even such players, knowing their talent, have to start to win from time to time. IMHO, it’s a good moment and place.
