Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010

Recommended Posts

So as is the case with cricket these days, one twenty20 tournament ends and another begins soon after. This time it's the world twenty20. It was a cracking tournament held in England last year and this year it's in the Caribbean. A quick reminder of the format. We've got 4 groups of 3. Top 2 go through to the Super 8's where the 8 teams are split into 2 groups of 4. Top 2 head to the semis where it becomes a knockout. There's a slight thing to watch out for in the 1st group stage. The teams are seeded so we know how the 2nd group is laid out. It's not 1st in A, 2nd in B etc etc in one group. Here's the 1st groups: Group A: 1 - Pakistan 2 - Bangladesh 3 - Australia Group B: 1 - Sri Lanka 2 - New Zealand 3 - Zimbabwe Group C: 1 - South Africa 2 - India 3 - Afghanistan Group D: 1 - West Indies 2 - England 3 - Ireland Those groups are seeded in finishing order from the last tournament. The Super Eight groups are as follows: Group E: A1 B2 C1 D2 Group F: A2 B1 C2 D1 So these groups are determined by who qualifies from the 1st set of groups not where they finish. If Australia, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan or Ireland were to qualify then they would take the position of the side who doesn't qualify. So for example if Australia and Bangladesh qualify from Group A Australia would be A1 in the Super Eights and Bangladesh would be A2. Were Australia and Pakistan to qualify Pakistan would go into A1's place and Australia into the A2 spot. If Pakistan and Bangladesh go through, Pakistan would be A1 and Bangladesh A2. Hopefully that makes sense. Usual 20 over rules apply. All the best players in the world are pitching up for this one and it has all the makings od being an absolutely classic tournament. It begins on Friday so let the fun begin :nana.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 WI at 12/1 at Betfred seems really good odds Match winners like Gayle, Pollard and Bravo with batting from Shiv and Sarwan. Bowling may look a bit weak but still got Roach and Taylor who are good quick bowlers What do you think Kev?

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 Spin is likely to play a big role in the West Indies so for me the subcontinental trio of India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka may just have the edge over the likes of Australia and South Africa. But in the t20 format there are always surprise packages and I think England may just go well in this tournament and be that surprise. Will be back later in the week with my picks.

Got my doubts over them if I'm honest. I couldn't agree more with Westy. One advantage us punters have in these tournaments at the minute is the fantastic worldwide coverage Sky bring us and even though West Indies vs Zimbabwe wasn't the greatest cricketing watch it has given us a blinding insight into what we can expect in this tournament. I'll take an early one but most of my picks will go up later in the week once I've assessed a few warm up matches. 0.5pts ew Bangladesh to win world twenty20 66/1 William Hill (1/3 1,2) There are many who will call me mad for this and I don't necessarily expect Bangladesh to win this tournament but with the array, depth and quality of spin options they have available I'm willing to take my chances at 66/1, which is a ridiculous price in the overall scheme of things. Bangladesh have lots of spin options. Shakib, Razzaq, Mahmudallah and even Ashraful can turn his arm over. Tamim Iqbal, Shakib, Mushfiqur and Ashraful can all hit a cricket ball a long way and although they've got a tricky opening group with them landing Australia, if they were to qualify they'd go into what I'd call the easier of the two Super 8 groups I think. We saw what spin did when Zimbabwe were here earlier on in the winter and they didn't have the quality of spin options Bangladesh do. I'd say 33/1 was a fairer reflection of the Tigers chances and with that in mind I'm happy to take a small punt on Bangladesh to win this thing.

I have to say I was looking at the Windies myself. I rate Sulieman Benn as a good spin option for them, his height creates bounce and nobody likes a bouncy spinner!! (saying that, I don't even know if he's in their squad?). I also think T & T's performance in the CLT20 shows what 'Carribean' team spirit brings... Plus home advantage of course... I'm undecided after reading westy and kevs posts now though!

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 Twenty20 World Cup 2010 Top Batsman JP Duminy @ 50/1 (5 places, 1/4 odds bet365) Providing Kallis doesn't hogg all the overs, think Duminy could have a good tournament, not the biggest batsman, still capable of giving it a wallop, impressed when he finally got into the Mumbai Indians, does well for Cape Cobra's too, has the ability to score quickly once he gets in. Wouldn't surprise me if he goes in above the out of sorts AB De Villiers. Dwayne Bravo @ 100/1 (5places ,1/4 odds bet365) Ok he's not a mainline batsman but this price is too big for me, playing in familiar conditions, another Mumbai Indian whose IPL experience will only make him a better T20 player, could be the man to accumulate runs for the WI in the middle order. Top Bowler Piyush Chawla @ 50/1 (5places , 1/4 odds bluesq) Happy with this price, although he went for a few in the IPL for Kings Eleven, he still managed to take wickets in a faltering team, his variations are impressive, he has good control, bowls a decent googly, my only concern would be how the Indian side approach the bowling balance of the team as Bhaji will be the main spinner, prepared to take the chance at the price though.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 One has caught my eye. 1pt e/w - Ravindra Jadeja top tournament bowler - 66/1 (5 places, 1/4) BlueSquare Now Jadeja hasn't played a lot of cricket recently, violation of IPL rules meant that he didn't take part in that tournament but it hasn't stopped India from picking him in their squad and I think he's well worth a shot a this price. I expect India to go well and that's important if this is to come off. Jadeja is by no means a certainty in the Indian XI but I think his all round capabilities will make him a sure pick as the tournament goes on. If spin will play as big a part as expected it would be no surprise to see spinners dominate the wicket taking with even part timers going well. But Jadeja is by no means a part time left arm spinner, he is a lot better than that and has done well for India in his few appearances. He can spin it a good amount and has a good change of pace which is crucial in this format. When you consider a similar type bowler in Roelof Van Der Merwe is 40/1, I'm more than happy to take 66s for this canny left arm spinner.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 T20 World Cup Winners - Australia (4.33 at Stan James) i am having trouble seeing far past the Aussies for this one. they are usually imperious in West Indies and their squad looks strong. am surprised that Bollinger is not selected, but Nannes, Johnson and Hauritz should keep things stable.. but.. it is their batting and fielding which puts them so far ahead of the rest; Warner, Watson, Haddin, Clarke and Hussey all have the ability to score heavily quickly. I think they will be tough to beat. Add to this an awesome tournament attitude and the well-known frailties of all other shorter priced teams and this seems an obvious choice.. but hey I could be wrong.

Found a better way round this.... Only Tote and Lads do 1/2 1,2 for Each Way.... But are best price on only a few teams. So... Backed Bangladesh @ 66/1 to win AND 33/1 to reach the final... effectively the same as EW only you get 1/2 odds instead of 1/3 !! Hope this isn't too late for people to get that better bit of value! (On any team Willhill are best priced on... not just Bangladesh!)

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 I'm gonna add 3 of my own Top Tournament Wicket Takers.... All are for the same reasons really. They are all proven at some form of International cricket, perhaps not T20 specialists but have taken wickets and impressed in tests or ODI's. They are from teams I think will progress to Super 8's and hopefully further, meaning more matches, hopefully meaning more wickets! They are all Spinners, the concensus definately seems to be, the tracks will favour the slow bowlers and we all saw how well the spinners did in the recent IPL, The purple cap was won by Ojha and except, I think Malinga, the rest in the top 5 or 6 were also spinners. So my picks, who are all at appetising odds are: Graeme Swann (Eng) - 25/1 - Skybet - 1pt EW (1/4, 1-5) 2nd best bowler Test bowler in the world behind only Steyn. 16 wickets in 11 T20 Internationals. England should make Super 8's and would be hoping for at least Semi-Finals, maybe better??? Sulieman Benn (W.I) - 40/1 - Skybet - 1pt EW (1/4, 1-5) Along with Gayle, should be the Windies frontline spinner, I really like him and have mentioned early, the unpredictable bounce he gets because of his height should make him a real handful. If Pollard, Bravo, Gayle and co can set some big targets, many may try and go after him, which I think will work to his favour, As will the home advantage. 40/1 seems too big for me. The home nation should be expecting a Semi Final appearance or they'd be disappointed... I have a sneaky feeling they'll do well. Nathan Hauritz (Aus) - 66/1 - Skybet - 1pt EW (1/4, 1-5) Am I missing something? Should the tournament favourites best spinner be a 66/1 shot? I don't think he has played many T20 International's but can Australia afford to leave him out? I saw him play for NSW in the CLT20 and thought he bowled well, he has a good test and ODI record, so why not convert it to T20? The aussies would expect to win this, so plenty of matches possible. :hope All !!

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 I'm considering 2 other bets but would like some input if anyone has any! 2 or more centuries to be scored in the tournament - 9/2 - Extrabet & Top WicketKeeper runscorer B.Mcullum 4/1 K.Sangakarra 4/1 K.Akmal 9/2 MS Dhoni 6/1 C.Kieswetter 6/1 B.Haddin 15/2 M.Boucher 16/1 T.Taibu 18/1 M.Rahim 25/1 D.Ramdin 33/1 EW 1/3, 1-2 All odds with Totesport. I can understand Mcullum, Sangakarra and Dhoni. I think Akmal is too short also Kieswetter for his first major England tour / tourney. Haddin Stood out to me as cracking at 15/2, Aussies should go well, he can clear the ropes, has a good array of shots and good running. Is considered a bit of a finisher for them. While writing the list, Mushfiqur Rahim jumped out as well, Kev thinks Bangladesh could go well and I remember him batting well in Tests against England? Any thought??

Not going to sway you either way mate but one thing to be considered above all else in this market is batting position. I've put where I think a keeper will bat in the original post. The top 3 last year were: Akmal - 188 (7 inns @ 26.85) Sangakkara - 177 (7 inns @ 35.40) McCullum - 107 (5 inns @ 21.40) The top 2 were the finalists and McCullum made the Super 8's. All 3 batted in the top 3 for their side. Given most will play a maximum of 5 matches, I'd personally be scrapping anyone who isn't batting in the top 3 for their side. That's just me though :ok

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 I think Haddin is good value. He may well be used as a floater so he could well bat at 3 on occasions. McCullum and Akmal are obviously shorter as they will most likely open for their countries. As for Rahim, I can't see him outscoring his competitors across a whole tournament personally. The price obviously reflects that the bookies think Bangladesh have no hope of qualifying from their group which may not neccesarily be the case. And whilst I don't think they can win it I will be looking at the price of them to qualify from their group especially after the Zimboks upset Australia in todays warm up.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 Top Runscorer - Jacques Kallis @ $17 Sportsbet Betfair have this at $12.50 pre-commission and his top price around Europe seems to be $13. These odds are 30% better than the exchange rate and this in and of itself justifies the bet. Kallis' strong IPL form and the fact he is opening can only serve as added benefits to the strong reasoning behind this bet. On another note, Kev, got any insight on Ajantha Mendis for top wicket taker. One I'm toying with but am as yet undecided.

On another note' date=' Kev, got any insight on Ajantha Mendis for top wicket taker. One I'm toying with but am as yet undecided.[/quote'] Undecided myself mate. One of him and Murali should go well. Tbh, I think Perry could have the market nailed with big Suliemann. One thing I will say about Mendis is it slightly concerns me that he never played in the warm up match today. Saying that, Murali didn't either so may not be something to read into. Mendis was 2nd last time and these pitches should suit him more so I can't put you off mate (and wouldn't want to either :ok) :ok.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 3 for me. Will hopefully add a couple more outrights in the morning before I leave for York and then will assess again on Friday before the off. 2pts Sri Lanka to win World Twenty20 6/1 Ladbrokes I've ummed and aahed a bit over this one but I've decided to make the plunge. My query was Sangakkara as captain. As I pointed out in the IPL thread, I think this guy is one of the worst captains around but hopefully his vast array of options come through without too much tinkering being required. There may be a question mark about their batting but there certainly isn't about their bowling. The 3 M's could be deadly in this tournament. That's Malinga, Murali and Mendis and if they don't roll you over a 4th one - Mathews, could. That's without mentioning solid back up performers in Jayasuriya, Kulasekera, Randiv and Perera. Their batting is probably one batsman light but I don't envisage this being a high scoring tournament at all and I think on most occasions 140 will be plenty. I think there's enough in this Sri Lankan batting to hit there more often than not. If Sangakkara does get it right and doesn't make any ridiculous blunders with his bowling changes then I think Sri Lanka could well claim this title. 1pt ew M.Jayawardene Top Tournament Runscorer 22/1 Blue Square (1/4 1,2,3,4,5) Amazingly, from almost nowhere, Mahela Jayawardene ended up 6th in the overall run charts in the IPL and that's despite batting down the order for the Kings XI to begin with. I waited a while to see if Sri Lanka were going to push Jayawardene up to open having stated they see Jayasuriya as more of a middle order batsman now, and in their warm up match they did so I'm happy to get involved. Mahela's a great batsman to watch. So elegant but it gets biffed when it needs to. These low, slow wickets will play right into Mahela's hands with his low hands and nudges and nurdles. He plays spin well, comes into this event in terrific form and assuming he does open could become a big price rather quickly. 1pt ew D.Sammy Top Tournament Wicket-taker 80/1 Blue Square (1/4 1,2,3,4,5) I wasn't going to get involved in this market originally because there's a few contenders but I glanced at the odds and Darren Sammy stood out as some real value. He took a 5 for in the twenty20 match with Zimbabwe when they toured the Windies and he's currently taken 2 more in a warm up match against New Zealand. Having said that spinners will do most of the damage in this tournament, and I firmly believe that, it feels a bit weird taking a seamer but Sammy's got a good change of pace and variation and bowls wicket to wicket which if there's a bit of indifferent bounce around he can benefit from. Windies should make the super 8's and possibly even beyond so he'll have plenty of wicket taking chances. Suliemann Benn tends to open the innings and gets a couple out before Sammy comes on to rip out the middle order and tail. Long shot as the odds suggest but if someone is going to come from this far down the market then the St Lucian could well be the one.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 Top Tournament Batsman, Dave Warner @ 15/1, he just played a strong knock in a friendly against Zimbabwe 72 from 49, and he has just come from IPL so he is warmed up and ready to go, I really see Australia going far in this tournament, and if they do, he will be there for them, and I can see some big knocks from him, I got 15/1 on BoyleSports, but he is 10/1 on PaddyPower?, big difference in the price, also other possible players for the prize at a good price is Vijay, Murali @ 20/1 also come from the IPL and he showed what he can do there, especially with a really top century, 127 runs in just 56 balls against the Rajasthan Royals, also you would think India will be near the finishing line and he will open and I hope he can show his skills again, again he is 20/1 with BoyleSports and 14/1 with PaddyPower, and I have two more for a big price, one is Lumb, Michael @ 40/1, we don't know how England will do, I'd guess they will get quite close to the prize, and Lumb is another opener who showed his Cricket skills in the IPL, and at the price I think he is worth a go, my last choice and it's not the biggest price, anyways should Sri Lanka get near the prize, you would think Jayawardene, Mahela will be a big player in getting them there, and he is being put as an opener now and he showed in the IPL that didn't bother him at all, he actually looked very comfortable out there, another one of the IPL players to hit a century, 110 from 59 balls, this is a price that is actually bigger in PaddyPower than BoyleSports, you can get 16/1 on BoyleSports and 18/1 on PaddyPower, just some suggestions from what I can see, good luck everyone, and wish Ireland some luck also, hehe :)...

Reasoning A little wild shot, but on spin-favoured pitches in the West Indies, I think Ajantha Mendis will have the platform to perform his magic in the tournament. I think Sri Lanka will have a good tournament, with Muralitharan joining in on the fun too, but hopefully Mendis will top the charts at the end of the tournament. I hope Ajantha Mendis will be the top bowler. Good luck!

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 1pt ew - Top Tournament Bat Jesse Ryder - 40/1 (1/4, 4 places) Boylesports New Zealand are a professional outfit who do well in the big tournaments without actually winning them. In Jesse Ryder they have an excellent striker of a cricket ball who has shown good form in their warm up games. He will open the innings with Brendan McCullum who hasn't shown great form lately so the onus could be on Jesse to provid NZ with the aggressive starts. For me 40/1 is a generous price for an opener of the perennial semi finalists.

Reasoning This looks like a very big number for this sort of price. I know there are some poor teams in this, but perhaps only a few games where the big team bats first. In any of the competitive games, I can't see anyone getting near this total. Looking at some of the warm up games, scores tend to be low and definately lower than in IPL3. I know it only takes 1 game to mess this up, but it still seems to be a big number to cover.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 And one for the opening game between Sri Lanka and New Zealand. 3pts - New Zealand to hit most sixes - 6/5 PaddyPower This could well be a low scoring game by all accounts but I just feel that NZ possess more firepower in terms of hitting the big ones and certainly shouldn't be the underdogs in this particular market. In Ryder, McCullum, Taylor, Guptill and Oram, they have a strong line up who are capable of clearing the ropes. On the other hand the likes of Jayawardene, Sangakarra and co are obviously capable of going big but only do so when required. In a match that might not produce too many sixes, I'm happy to back NZ to edge out Sri Lanka in the sixes count.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 More outrights for me. There are a few of them so I'll put them up over the course of a few posts. I'm looking for value at small punts here barring a couple of overpriced match bets. 6pts Highest team total - Under 218 7/4 VC Cramer's nailed this above at a better price but this price is still perfectly acceptable given the fact Bet365 are offering a line of over/under 213 at 5/6. The pitches here just won't be conducive to high scoring. We've seen that in the warm up matches where 200 has looked a distance away in all the games and 140 has been a very good score in most of the games. If Australia can bat 1st against the Winward Islands and only hit 189 albeit with Hauritz and Christian playing for the Winward Isles, then I can't see anyone going big in this tournament. You'd think there's only 8 chances of this happening and they are the 8 games against the supposed weaker sides - Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Afghanistan. Bangladesh can be competitive, Zimbabwe have beaten West Indies, Australia and Pakistan in their 3 twenty20 matches in the Caribbean so they can compete while Ireland and Afghanistan have fair bowling attacks. I doubt all 8 with have the powerful side batting 1st anyway. As I say, these wickets won't be good for quick scoring and clean hitting and I very much think we'll end under this total once all the matches have been played. 3pts MS.Dhoni to beat Y.Singh - Tournament Match Bet - 6/5 Boylesports I think this is a decent price for India's captain. We saw in the IPL that Yuvraj was struggling a bit with his game and while he got a bit better towards the end, I don't think he was that much better. Dhoni's full of quality. He oozes class and at some point in this tournament he'll have to play a couple of big innings for his country. I've a sneaky feeling Dhoni may well bat ahead of Yuvraj in this batting lineup which would give him a better chance of scoring more than Yuvraj over the tournament. These wickets won't suit Yuvraj's style of play so I'm happy to take Dhoni at odds against. 3pts S.Chanderpaul to beat R.Sarwan - Tournament Match Bet - Evs Boylesports This is another match bet I like the look of. Although you can't guage everything by warm up matches, it's interesting that Chanderpaul opened against New Zealand and hit a decent half century in the process. Sarwan batted 4 but if he's batting there then he's likely to be shunted down the order if there's a decent partnership above him, to allow Pollard and even Smith if he plays, to come in and propel a total up. Chanderpaul's instructions will be to bat out the innings a la Kallis in the IPL while the rest play freely around him. That's a role Chanderpaul plays as well as most so at Evs I like this match bet.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 Some team bets now. 2pts T.Iqbal Top Bangladesh Tournament Batsman 10/3 Blue Square Tamim Iqbal showed all his qualities when Bangladesh hosted England earlier in the winter. He's a hard hitting batsman who looks totally at ease in this company. The danger to this bet is that we're betting in a 2 match series but Iqbal is definitely the standout batsman. Over the course of 5+ matches I fully expect him to top score for Bangladesh but he does open so he'll have 1st dibs even if this is a 2 match race. Shakib is a danger but he bats down the order. Tamim's main danger could well come from his opening partner Imrul Keyes. There's a few other solid batsmen - Aftab, Ashraful and Mahmudullah but Tamim's the class act and gets my dosh in this market. 1pt E.Morgan Top England Tournament 6 hitter 6/1 William Hill I think this is a fairly big price on England's most natural big hitter. Obviously Pietersen is going to be favourite for this market but Morgan has more shots than anyone I've ever seen and on these slow wickets he should go well. England don't have a Pollard or Warner so nobody is going to run away with this market but Morgan's natural game is to go over the top and with the ball likely to be easier to hit towards the end I'll take the Irishman to top England's 6 hitting charts. 1pt M.Yardy Top England Tournament Bowler 10/1 Coral Michael Yardy is a big price here. He isn't going to be England's 1st choice bowler but I think with the slow wickets and the added advantage that he can bat I'm pretty sure he'll get the nod as the 2nd spinner. He's a tricky player really because he bowls a bit like Jayasuriya but he has the slower one if the batsman advances. Graeme Swann's a rightful favourite but everyone knows about him and may not know so much about Yardy so the Sussex captain could pick up a few free wickets as well as those he gets in his own right with his natural turn. 10's is a big price here I feel. 1pt C.Langeveldt Top South Africa Tournament Bowler 6/1 Blue Square I said in the IPL thread that Langeveldt is a good twenty20 bowler but he didn't get enough game time to top the Kolkata wicket taking charts. I think he'll get a lot more time in the side for South Africa and may well open the bowling alongside Dale Steyn. Not only will he open the bowling but he'll bowl at the death for certain so he should get some cheap wickets. It's a decent market is this with Steyn and the two spinners but Langeveldt can't be taken for granted and at 6/1 I'm happy to have a small bet on the former Derbyshire man to win this market. 1pt E.Chigumbura Top Zimbabwe Tournament Batsman 9/1 Betfred Elton Chigumbura must be full of confidence coming into this tournament after walloping 76 off 35 against Australia and 49 off 35 against Pakistan in Zimbabwe's two warm up matches. He also hit a couple of decent cameos in Zimbabwe's tour against West Indies earlier in the year. This looks like it will be a 2 match market so a quick cameo down the order of the proportion that he managed in the warm up match could well be enough to order. This could be one of those markets where everyone has a solid effort and a good effort and 45 could be enough to take it. The Northants overseas player for this season is clearly hitting the ball well and looks a big price at 9/1.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 2 for me in the 1st match. 3pts New Zealand vs Sri Lanka - Over 8.5 6's 5/6 William Hill There were 3 warm up matches at Providence prior to this tournament and all 3 had at least 10 6's in them and that includes Ireland vs Afghanistan where the scores were in the 130's. This will be a low scoring ground over this tournament but I do still feel there will be 6's here. It's a fairly small ground overall and if you get to the pitch of the ball it will be hittable. It will turn though but if you go with the turn that's no huge problem. In this one we've got Taylor, McCullum, Ryder, Styris and Oram going for us for New Zealand and although I agree with Westy that Sri Lanka aren't a huge hitting team there's still Jayawardene, Sangakkara, Jayasuriya, Mathews and Kapugedera to bump the total up. I think there's enough batting on display to take this total over. 1pt S.Styris Top New Zealand Bowler 12/1 Blue Square This is a big price. Admittedly Scott Styris will be used as an afterthought almost but how often does someone like that come on and take wickets? I think back to the last twenty20 world cup and Lendl Simmons made his name doing that. Styris took 4 for 18 against the West Indies on this ground the other night and bowled a full 4 overs. He's a wicket to wicket bowler who mixes his pace up like a Paul Collingwood and I think he's way overpriced at 12/1 so I'll have a small dabble.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 Wasn't going to take another one but the toss and slight increase in price which is strange has got me involved. 5pts - Sri Lanka to beat New Zealand - 8/11 Paddypower The price was 4/6 yesterday and now it is 8/11 despite Sri Lanka winning the toss and batting first which will suit them down to a tee. Chasing a score against the likes of Malinga but more importantly Mendis and Murali will be a nightmare for NZ as the pitch gets slower and lower according to the pundits.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010 One for me for the 2nd game tonight. 3pts T.Johnston's Performance Pts - 21&Over 5/6 Bet365 Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 20pts per wicket. Trent Johnston is one of Ireland's better cricketers and has been ever since they entered the international stage as a force in associate cricket. He can bat and bowl. He took 6 wickets in 4 matches in this tournament last year and in the 2007 world cup which was held in the Caribbean he took 8 wickets and averaged 21.50 with the bat too. He'll definitely get a bat because he can hit a cricket ball a long long way but he's a solid bowler who should go well on this wicket which has already had 40 overs of cricket on it today and is showing a bit of variable bounce now. Assuming he takes a wicket, which is fairly likely I would say, then we only need 1 run with the bat. Even if he doesn't take a wicket, a couple of big blows will see him hit this with the bat so at a low total I'm going with the ex-Ireland captain here.
