Perhaps the thousands employed by the gambling industry would disagree. Perhaps my role in society is'nt useful, but it does provide me with the sort of family stability and lifestyle that others should perhaps aim for.(and I am by no means a big winner) Many blame the breakdown of the family unit as one of the biggest problems in modern society. The reason for the breakdown is often as not the greed of the parents. To say winning at poker is morally bankrupt might be correct but then so is exploiting the stock market or offering financial services at excessive rates.
