Re: Inside Poker WSOPE FR Betfair

Well done Johnny Foldem ;) I agree with the mags there used to be value but not anymore and the content is getting repetitive and if you get both Dennis publications even more so but for £5 a year where's the value in not subscribing?
What and risk missing out on any more pics of Geordie lands hunk of the month.(insert appropriate smilie here ;):lol:cry:spank:puke:sad:eek:loon:rollin:unsure)

Re: Inside Poker WSOPE FR Betfair

I have to agree here I used to buy all the magazines, now i get them free from casino's and the ones i cant get i dont bother with.:\ The added value of buying them isnt there anymore, with the majority of mags unable to sort out the increasing problems of non readers/foreigners getting into their suposedly exclusive readers events. I never bought the magazine/read the magazine or have any intention of doing so for the near future, but i got the password and played the game last night......that needs to be sorted asap as its not fair on genuine readers:ok
Noted. Good luck with claiming any future big prizes :tongue2

Re: Inside Poker WSOPE FR Betfair On a more serious note we do listen to these complaints, and we do listen to all the suggestions to get around it (words from the magazine, subscribers only etc). However, to-date we've not found another way of doing these freerolls that doesn't either have a big downside or is not practical to implement for the poker sites. As Winston Churchill said about democracy, password freerolls are the worst system apart from all the others that have been tried. I do think we go to greater lengths at Dennis than any other mag. We never leak the passwords out to boost numbers or publish it on our websites. And as soon as we find a forum that publishes them we take action to get them to stop. If you don't want to buy the mag fair enough, but we're not just a freeroll leaflet. There is LOT more to the mag than just freerolls. And IP is not given away free in casinos. Anyway, PL regulars all know how much we value your continued support and hope to keep seeing you in our freerolls. Any questions or suggestions please PM me as I'm always keen to hear them. Even from Brian ;) p.s. Please note also Betfair did kick out 400 or so non-UK players before the start. I should probably have asked for another clear out just before the event kicked off. My mistake. Sorry.

When was the last time you asked for proof you have either bought the mag or subscribed before sorting the winnings out? ;) More subscriber freerolls/added value are needed IMO, meaning more people sign up to you guys in the long term and you know that everyone in the tourney is eligible too. Surely this cannot be hard to sort out? :unsure

Re: Inside Poker WSOPE FR Betfair No and it is something we are looking into. But it's less attractive to the poker sites as they are getting in front of fewer eyeballs. But yes I agree it would be a nice thing for regular readers and we are looking at it seriously. p.s. Before this gets into a big Q&A thing, can anyone who has suggestions or comments please PM me or email me at [email protected] rather than post on here. I don't really want to end up discussing commercial things or mag strategy in a public forum read by rival mag editors. Hi Jon! :)

Good to hear Alun :ok Your right regarding numbers for signups etc, however id say 80% of readers wanting to play the freerolls on the bigger sites already have accounts, so basing it on a 20% sign up (which is generous) you still wont get many. Making it subscriber only, or individual code from the magazine, and your guaranteeing that just the readers play, and if you make it a nominated buy in ($1-$5) with the same level of buy in, you will please the poker rooms more than a freeroll with loads of their regulars playing anyway

Yeah, what Alun said. I think all mags used to do subscriber-only passwords but this penalised readers who just bought the odd mag every now and then. And yeah, at the end of the day, advertisers want to see numbers signing up to their websites. I'm not naive enough (nor are you if you're on this site) to think that poker mags aren't in the business of looking after both readers AND advertisers, but there has to be a balance of having the loyal readers looked after, and getting healthy numbers into freerolls. I agree there should be two kinds of freerolls - one for the paid-up subscribers that's sent out with the mag, and another for the casual reader who's picking the mag up in the shops to play the freeroll. And the whole nature of sign-ups has changed. It's not like 3 or 4 years ago where nobody had a BlueSq account - everyone has them. I think we'll see a move down the path of charging players $1/$2 to play in 'freerolls' - basically very high value tournaments that will weed out freeroll tourists but still reward those after some value. remember, if you're disgruntled with IP/PP, subscribe NOW to WPT Poker for just.....SPAM @**&$& SPAM etc etc (just kidding, Alun ;)

I lol'd :lol I don't play them anymore Alun bad ROI ;) and I'm usually upto something more interesting than poker. I'll still buy IP though as it's the best mag around (sorry Jon) especially for strat. PP seems to be just full of badbeat columns these days Rob Romanello BB Column :zzz Nick Wealthall BB Column :zzz even the letters page is full of bb moaners. Great comment about it being a freeroll leaflet if thats all people buy it for and then do not read the mag then they deserve badbeating by some Ukrainian on the bubble IMO :lol

Re: Inside Poker WSOPE FR Betfair I finished 67th in this. Checking my Betfair a/c tonight I have an adjustment of around $3.50.

2009-09-16 13:58 720 - GPU001 - POK - INSIDE POKER WSOPE FREEROLL WINNINGS ADJ6 --- 2.13
In the mag the $1000 prize pool was between 2nd-9th but the Betfair lobby did show placings to 63rd (but no values). I can't imagine there were so many ineligibles that I've ended up in the top 9 so I guess Betfair are in this case honouring what their lobby indicated. Anyone else got something?
