Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th Junqueira v. Clement_pick Clement @1.4 I'm going with more experienced player here, who has shown some decent performances when playing on hard courts. Juqueira is better ranked, but still the dog in this match(thats because the surface,i think).I've never notice Junqueira to play on hard courts,i don't know for sure but this maybe, will be his debut on this kind of surface(he is classic clay pl.) Hard court is the main reason that i'm taking this bet,as i think it will be more suitable to frenchmen..Clement should easily take the win here..:hope

Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th Hi guys,my 1st bet for 2009 : WTA TOUR, BRISBANE ERRANI TO D PIRONKOVA @ 1.77 at betfair Errani had a very good 2008 moving to number 40 in WTA rankings and she is a top 20 potential for sure. Before that she is mainly a clay courter but had several big wins on hard courts as well, including Portoroz title. Errani had a good win over Hantuchova yesterday. Pironkova actually plays similar type of game to Errani, but she is more erratic, and less consistent in her game in general. Errani will force her into a lot of unforced errors.

Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th Ouch bad night. Poor start to the season. MINAR @ 1.83 Stan James. Everybody who read my stuff last year knows I like Minar and I make him a pretty decent fav here. He tends to start the season pretty well and the quick courts in Chennai should suit him over Odesnik who tends to prefer the clay.

Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th

There is one match in Chennai that seems attractive to me.Kim v Devvarman_pick Devvarman @ 1.90 Somdev Devvarman is a two time NCAA singles champion(that don't has to mean anything),turned pro in Juli 2008 and is currently ranked 204. At the end of the last season i've noticed a couple of brilliant performances by this 23years old Indian_surprising win over Almagro on clay in three sets, final match in Nashville(wins over players like Warburg,Levine,Reynolds before that final). Theres a lot of improvement in his play and it seems that he is in preety good phisical shape. His main target this season is entering in Top 100 ATP players, what will be very hard, indeed. Now he has great chance to start accomplishing that target in his first match this year in Chennai(India),on home ground, what is good advantage for him,i think! For Kims form i can't say much,he is madiocre player, playing mostly on challenger events,i must notice that he is better ranked for 90 places on ATP ranking(thats why the odds are slightly on his side,i think)! My first tennis pick on PL,hopefully winning one :hope
Devvarman wins 6/3 6/3:D
Djokovic v. Gulbis pick Gulbis @4.5 Heavy price for Gulbis win,i'm taking it:hope This surely will not be walkover for Djokovic,i expect very hard match(three setter maybe)! Djole is focused on Melbourne i think,(but he is pro)where he has to defend his GS title from last year!pressure on him is already big, especialy from the media( is he pro enough to cope with it?). On the other side Gulbis, great server who has nothing to lose in this clash. His mental capacity was on full display several times last season against Nadal and Djokovic.I think he is well capable of making an upset here Go Ernest..:hope
Gulbis wins 6/4 6/4:D
Junqueira v.
Clement wins 6/2 6/1:D So far,so good..:cheers

Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th

Federer -5.5 & Nadal -5.5 4 points @ 3.17 William Hill I'm expecting to be on the other side of Roger this season but after a fair showing in the exhibition last week, this should be a fairly straightforward task. Starace is a clay court specialist with little hard court play on his record, often the case when you are dumped out first time round so often! Granted he may not be a walkover but at 5/6, Roger looks good value to beat the handicap. Rafa squares up to Santoro, he opened up at 5/6 to beat the handicap but has been clipped into 8/11. Although a loser to Andy last week, I thought he looked great and should oblige here. Santoro turns 37 this year and has clocked up just over $9 million in an excellent career, all credit to him but Rafa loves to put these matches away and should do to overcome the 5.5 handicap.
Federer def. Starace 6-2 6-2 - Handicap 12 - 9.5 :) Nadal def. Santoro 6-0 6-1 - Handicap 12 - 6.5 :) Stake - 4 pts Return - 12.67 pts P/L = + 8.67 pts This Week Staked - 7 pts Returned - 18.17 pts P/L = +11.17 pts

Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th VERDASCO @ 1.96 Betfair. Tough start to the year for Ancic going 3 tiebreaks with Ancic which isn't a convincing result. He could struggle to recover physically especially considering the medical problems he's had in the past. Verdasco had a decent match with youngster Tomic and he's good enough to be a decent fav here. NISHIKORI @ 3.4 Coral. Nishikori is the type to cause a big upset, and Berdych is the type to lose as a big fav, so this looks pretty appealing. Apparently the Japanese wonderkid has been working hard over the winter and took care of Beynolds in the first round comfortably. With his returning and baseline skills he can cause Berdych a lot of problems here.

Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th MINAR @ 4.00 Stan James. Minar is my boy! He got an easy win over Odesnik and has a chance here. He has the flashy and destrustive shots that he can string a few together and get a break against Karlovic. However, he can also hit a run of awful errors and be broken himself by the big man but hey it's a big price. The courts should suit Karlovic as they are quick but I remember last season he started quite poorly, won a few matches but whenever I saw him he was playing garbage. At this price it's worth a go. HANESCU @ 2.77 Pinnacle. Hanescu finished last year playing really well and the Roamanian looks to have started this year in similar fashion, getting a very decent and comfortable win over Troicki. Youzhny really well away last year, he got a nice win from a set down against Andreev but that isn't enough to convince me that he's back. Hanescu is really solid and will give Youzhny a big test here. I'll look into some handicaps in the morning.

WTA Brisbane - Second Round Tsvetana Pironkova v Sara Errani I am going with Pironkova to get the win here over Sara Errani. The odds are in favour of Errani because she beat a "big name" in Daniela Hantuchova. Hantuchova has not being playing anywhere near her best as of late, and was quite disappointing yesterday. Pironkova defeated a much more in form opponent in Niculesku, and should get it done here today. 1 unit on Pironkova @ $2.12 (www.sportingbet.com.au)

Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th Verdasco lost his serve twice against Tomić???....Delic on the other side had 3 qualy matches under his belt...and 23 aces...Delic is a mug but he lost afterall...i think it is wrong to rate Nandos match with Tomić better or with higher intensity better than Ancic Delić...Nando is a headcse and a proven chocker...Ancic can beat him even if he is not playing even near to his best(happend twice)...so ill take Ancic 2.10

Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th Agree with you Mr I These two have played 2 close fought matches on grass with Ancic winning both. Ancic had a tough 3 set match yesterday which you pointed out while Verdasco had it easy against Tomic 2 days ago. This surface is a slowish hardcourt and should suit the bigger ground strokes of Verdasco. I think a fresher Verdasco will turn the tables on Ancic here. Back Verdasco at $1.92 with Betfair

Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th

The dogs are doing well it seems. Coin looks like a possibility today. She beat an out of sorts Ivanovic last year and I think she could at least take set off Mauresmo who's been on the slide and struggled against 177 ranked Dokic.
5-7 6-2 7-6 to Mauresmo. Apologies for not including odds etc there. I split a very modest 1 unit stake between Coin win @ 4.5 and Mauresmo 2-1 @ 4.2 on boylesports. Unless things look like changing dramatically, I am going to oppose Mauresmo and Hantuchova a good deal this year while the value is there. They seem to be in decline. Remember Mauresmo talking about retiring last year. I don't think a former champion like her will enjoy a year of tight scraps with the likes of Coin and Dokic.

Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th V. Hanescu 2.62 H2H tells us that both guys are instable in their performances. But Youzhny was very disappointing last 4-5 months. He made a lot of 1 round matches, without going higher. Now he had beaten Andreev - also a very inconsistent guy, but Hanescu impressed me much more, Troicki was favorite also in my mind and I was shocked when saw this one-sided match. Hanescu serve is a huge factor. Youzhny also can serve well, but not always, depends from mood and his errors on forehand side are often ridiculous. 2.62 is too big for such close match.

Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th M.Youzhny-V.Hanescu 2=2.77 5/10 Bookmaker:Pinnacle Mikhail Youzhny have won his first game against his fellow countryman Igor Andreev in three sets, a difficult game where the end could very easy go on Adreev's side as Mikhail Youzhny was just a little more inspired on those few important points. Victor Hanescu comes after his victory against Viktor Troicki, a quite easy victory without too many problems and that was a game where Troicki was rated a bit favourite. Victor Hanescu have improved his tennis since Gstaad last season considerable and I can't see him underdog against Mikhail Youzhny, maybe the fact that the russian have started with a victory over Igor Andreev is a reason besides the fact that Youzhny is considerated as overall better player but I still suggest to take a look to Hanescu's improvement from last season which is a proved fact already. Victor Hanescu possess a great serve, IMO more stable than the russian's one and that should give him a good advantage for this game. There are no doubts that Mikhail Youzhny is a great player especially at the net as he has fine touches there but we have to take a overall view on the things and the most important of them is that Youzhny still don't look convincing.

Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th Gulpis, crappy, one good match against djokovic, and perhaps five bad in a row, the guy is extremely talented, but...talented, not mature player at the moment tsonga survived today, but he doesnt look convincing at all, impossible to defend the last year's triamph imo with such performances i am still out of any betting involvment, i think is pure madness at the moment, lets see..one shock result after the other maybe? hehe:ok

Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th I just saw the game Berdych - Nishikori on bet365 livestream and what I saw was how the crowd was cheering when Berdych missed. He had no support in Brisbane at all. Everyone in the crowd was on Nishikoris side and I think all who sit here writing should think about this young japanese. He's got the second player on his side and he plays very well to. Nishikori did'nt make any misstakes like Berdych. But when Berdych lost a point everyone was happy for Nishi so I guess it was kind of mentally hard for him to. This young japanese playes well with the audience on his side so don't bet against him next round, my advice!

Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th red_impact, Berdych had so many Czech fans screaming and singing for him even when he was down 7-6 5-3. maybe u cant really hear from the bet365 stream. i used p2pstation which is very clear and loud and yes, that was one hell of a game from Nishikori, must consider this boy next time!

Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th Nishikori 3.00 on centrebet was yesterday on 3.30 so that market went down even before start so it was something saying the jap would win it. I have Nishi in a double system with 7 bets. I've lost 4 and won 2 so far with Nishi. More tennis today, what do I bet? I have placed a bet on Stakhovsky to win 2-1 but nothing more. I was thinking of Peya first but I think the austrian is not that good.
