Re: Cricket: Natwest Pro40 2008 These ties are starting to get on my tits now. For the 2nd week running I've had a tie when the team I've backed have looked completely dominant 20 overs into the 2nd innings. Worcester were strolling that then played some pisspoor cricket, especially Hick, for someone as experienced as him I've no idea what he was doing and in the end they were fortunate to tie. Luckily Tote pay dead heats on a tie so I've made a small profit on the night but nothing like the amount I should've made :wall:wall. +2.50 for the night which puts me up to +43.00 for the competition. Pro40 has a day off tomorrow before Worcester are on TV again on Saturday. I don't think I'll be quite so quick to back them a 3rd time this week though.

Re: Cricket: Natwest Pro40 2008 Worcestershire vs Gloucestershire is on TV tomorrow. I'm going with 1 but only a quick write up as I'm off to Exeter early doors tomorrow so I don't want to hang around tonight. 10pts Gloucestershire to beat Worcestershire 5/6 Sportingbet Worcestershire are missing key bowlers and with Gloucestershire being back to full strength that's not a good thing. Kirby and Lewis showed against Middlesex that they can contain sides and it's only really the top 3 scoring for Worcestershire. Gloucestershire bat a long way down and with neither side having much of a bowling attack, Gloucester's extra batting power can see them home.

Re: Cricket: Natwest Pro40 2008 2 small stakes top bats on this for me: Top Gloucester Bat: M HARDINGES 8/1 Boylesports Boyles sadly are not doing each way on this game as 8/1 is a nice each price for a man that will bat at 3. He top scored v Somerset, hopefully he can take advantage of field restrictions early on. Or if Gloucs are chasing a low score then we are laughing. Top Worcs Bat: Gareth Andrew Each way 80/1 Coral (1/5 1.2.3.) Not as much as we will be laughing if this cops mind you. Its a daft bet really, minimum stake only but I dont really trust Worcestershires batting, Andrew got placed in the Durham game last weekend without doing much, and we are getting 16/1 for the place part of the bet.

Re: Cricket: Natwest Pro40 2008 That'll teach me for betting blind and not looking into a bet :$. If I'd known Spearman was injured again and North had gone back I wouldn't have backed Gloucester I don't think. That's life. -10 for Saturday but still +33 for the competition. Hampshire vs Durham is the TV game tomorrow. It's a massive match for both teams. The winner goes top of the table. Doing my bets now as I'm off to the game tomorrow.

I'm going with 3. Hopefully we can dodge any rain that's around. 10pts Hampshire to beat Durham 11/10 Coral 3rd placed Hampshire take on 4th placed Durham with the winner knowing they will top the table. Hampshire know if they are to win this title they have to win both their remaining matches. Durham need at least 5pts from their 3 matches if they are to win the title so this should be another great match to follow up the two epic Championship matches which the sides have played out this season. Hampshire could have Chris Tremlett available for this match. It is my understanding Hampshire have asked England if he can play in this game then rejoin the England squad. Sean Ervine is in great form with the bat while all the talk at the Rose Bowl is of youngster Liam Dawson who seems to impress in every match. Imran Tahir has helped change Hampshire's fortunes with the ball while Mascarenhas has grown into the captaincy. Michael Lumb is another batsman in good form. Durham are without Paul Collingwood and Steve Harmison for this match as they are on England duty. They won't be released having played yesterday. Shivnerine Chanderpaul has come into a bit of form but Di Venuto is struggling and picked up a pair last week in the Championship match between these two sides. Liam Plunkett and Graham Onions will lead Durham's bowling attack and after his 8/24 it will be interesting to see if Mark Davies gets a game. Hampshire won a thrilling Championship match last week and I think coming in here they are playing the best and more consistent cricket. The lights won't be a problem so that's not a factor but in a match where the Championship matches have shown both sides are pretty even, I'll take Hampshire at odds against on home soil. 10pts Hampshire Highest Opening Partnership Evs Blue Square Hampshire's openers won the opening partnership in both innings at Basingstoke in the Championship match last week. That was in part to Michael di Venuto bagging a pair. Even in Pro40 di Venuto and Mustard have a highest 1st wicket partnership of just 36 and that was in the opening game of the competition. Neither of them are in great touch. Last time out against Middlesex, Lumb and Adams put on 48 for Hampshire's 1st wicket. Those two have batted nicely in this competition and I think they'll beat Durham's opening pair. 5pts ew S.Ervine Top Hampshire Batsman 5/1 Boylesports (1/4 1,2,3) Sean Ervine has suddenly caught fire with the bat. He's been hitting the ball all season but in the last couple of weeks he has scored runs by the bucket load. His unbeaten 94 saw Hampshire to victory over Durham in the Championship last week and prior to that he hit a superb century at Lords. We know he can score against this Durham attack and when Ervine is flowing there's very few who score as quickly as he can or hit it as far as he can. Rain could be around Southampton during this game so if it's a shortened game Ervine is flexible and can be moved up the order. As I've said on his day he's as good as there is and in his current form is totally worth backing ew.

Re: Cricket: Natwest Pro40 2008 I have found a belting bet for this evenings biggest of big games: Stan James - Top Bowler (from a list of 6): IMRAN TAHIR 4/1 Its a pretty specialist market and only available from the 1 firm but if you have a SJ account it seems a very decent bet. Top wicket taker from Breese, Plunkett, Onions, Mascerenhas, Tahir & Tremlett. I would have Tahir about 9/4 favourite, Durham are not great against spin, and Tahir is bang on form at the moment, indeed I would go as far as to say he is transforming Hampshires season. Plunkett is spraying it all over and indeed may not even play which would cause a rule 4 in the bet. Onions and Breese I would also want much bigger than 9/2. If tremlett plays he is a threat, but overall Tahir stands out head and shoulders. So much so I have just gone back and had another few quid while writing this! I would trade a winner in for a Durham victory though!!

Hope you got a refund on that bet mate with Onions getting 3 more overs to beat Lord Imran :ok. Bet you are glad to see the backs of us this season aren't you :lol. Hampshire were always on top last night despite Max Oram trying to curse us :eek. I think if we beat Worcester on Saturday we'll be champions. That's the next Pro40 game and it's on Sky. Hampshire won the opening partnership but Ervine did nothing so +11 for last night and +44 for the tournament now.

Re: Cricket: Natwest Pro40 2008 Huge match tomorrow. Hampshire vs Worcestershire. It's on TV too. Hampshire win and they take the title I think. I can't see us being caught. Weather isn't as bad as it's expected to be elsewhere but Southampton has copped a shitload of rain this week so weather the ground has stood up to it I'm not sure. I'm going with 2 bets. 10pts Hampshire to beat Worcestershire 5/6 Ladbrokes Hampshire come into this match top of the table and they know if they win in front of the Rose Bowl crowd they will have one hand on the title. Should Hampshire win, only Sussex and Notts could catch them and they play on the last day of the season. Should that be washed out Hampshire would be champions but they could be champions by then if either lose before then. A win for Worcestershire will see them safe from relegation so it's a big match for both sides. Hampshire are at full strength. Chris Tremlett is back from England duty and is likely to take Jimmy Tomlinson's place from the side which won the other night. The Hawks batting has suddenly clicked and they are scoring good runs. The addition of Imran Tahir to the bowling attack is an inspired one while Liam Dawson continues to impress. Mascarenhas is another key player for Hampshire. Worcestershire are bashed up with injuries. Graeme Hick is injured. Kabir Ali and Simon Jones have long since been ruled out for the season and Imran Arif's been given the boot so that Dilhara Fernando can end the season as overseas player. He debuts here. Moeen Ali will take Hick's spot in the side. Solanki and Davies are in excellent form with the bat at the top of the order but Worcester look a batsman or two light. Hampshire are playing excellent cricket at the minute. Man for man they are better than Worcestershire and are much stronger today too. Home advantage is good for Hampshire who have a good record at the Rose Bowl. They've already beaten Worcestershire here this season and I'm very confident they'll do it again. 1pt ew G.Andrew Top Worcestershire Batsman 33/1 Coral (1/5 1,2,3) Gareth Andrew can bat a bit and looking at the potential Worcestershire lineup he could get pushed up to number 8 for this match. Really it's only the top 3 who are scoring runs for Worcestershire at the minute. Gareth Andrew has had a couple of decent knocks in this tournament and in one day cricket this season and we saw just 5 days ago at the Rose Bowl how a lower order player can top score. Andrew was 2nd here when these two sides met in May in the 50 over game so he has the history and form on the ground and when you consider Worcestershire were 66/6 that day Andrew represents good value for a small ew tickle.

Re: Cricket: Natwest Pro40 2008 Me too as beating your lot would've won us the title. Not to be though and Notts' win today means we're unlikely to win it now. Glamorgan vs Derbyshire is live on Sky tomorrow. I'm not sure how much play there will be as I understand Cardiff's had plenty of rain too. I'm not interested in a match bet because they are both crap really and both have been rolled over a few times this season but I will go with a top bat. 5pts ew D.Redfern Top Derbyshire Batsman 13/2 Coral (1/5 1,2,3) Daniel Redfern is only really starting his county career but he's a very talented batsman. He top scored for the Phantoms the last time they were on sky too which is encouraging. In fact since he returned from Eng U-19 duty he has batted well most of the time. Redfern top scored with 69 in the recent Championship match against the Dragons too. Admittedly that was in Derby but I don't see Cardiff having too many demons for him. Glamorgan have the ability to send the Derby top order packing quickly and Redfern can be the one to benefit from that at a decent ew price.

Re: Cricket: Natwest Pro40 2008 IMO it will take a big effort from Derbyshire to get this score, that pitch looks hard to get spin away and glamorgan have the goods in that department. I have a bit on them today on betfair and i certainly wont be laying them off at the moment (at pretty much the same price i backed them).

Re: Cricket: Natwest Pro40 2008

guys anyone watching glamorgan - derby ? how do you rate glamorgan chances? should i cover my glamorgan bet? i was stupid enough to go high stakes... thanks
At those odds you're very lucky Glamorgan batted 1st. As it is, you've got yourself a winner :ok.

Re: Cricket: Natwest Pro40 2008

do you ever bet in running kev? At the break Glamorgan were available at about 1.5 ish.
Yep, I always back the side who have batted 1st at half time. I don't include it in this thread though. As I said earlier in the thread and for the last 2 years, if you back every side who've batted 1st at half time in this Pro40 (day night matches only) you will end the competition well in profit :ok.

Re: Cricket: Natwest Pro40 2008 Derbyshire were never in that run chase but Redfern promoted up the order came 2nd to give me a 1.5pt profit for the day to put me +45.5pts for the season now. Yorkshire vs Warwickshire is the TV game tomorrow but looking at the forecast I can't see there being much play. In case the weather doesn't hit I'll take two. 10pts Warwickshire to beat Yorkshire 11/8 Sportingbet Yorkshire have all the pressure on them here. They must win to keep up their promotion push. Warwickshire can't do anything in this division but they have too good a batting lineup to be this price. Trott, Troughton, Maddy and Ambrose are all way too good at this level to justify such a price on the Bears. I've liked Yorkshire all season in one day cricket but I think these two are more closely match than the odds suggest, particularly in what has to be a shortened match looking at the weather forecast. We've also got the day night situation to think about and that makes me back Warwickshire at a big price. 5pts ew R.Naved Top Yorkshire Batsman 7/1 Coral (1/5 1,2,3) Again, I'm assuming that this will be a shortened match. Rana Naved will go up the order whether it is or it isn't. He'll bat at 3 and his big hitting can easily top score. He's hit a couple of very tasty half centuries in this competition in front of the TV cameras already this season and the way he hits a ball, against a young Warwickshire bowling lineup, especially first up gives Naved an extra boost to top score. 7/1 is a big price for someone batting at 3 anyway but in a shortened match it's huge and I'm on.

Would be very interested to know as I have often thought it would pay aswell. Enjoy reading your tips, Thanks Tom

Re: Cricket: Natwest Pro40 2008 Back of Yorkshire for me at 1.66 with PP. Yorkshire know that if they win this game they are guaranteed a spot in the top 3. Win both of thei remaining games and they may even top the league. With them struggling in the county championship this is a huge incentive for them imo. Add to that the fact that it is Gough's last game and I reckon they will be fired up to win here today. Delayed start so there is bound to be something in the pitch early on, which could perhaps be balanced up later due to playing under lights. Either way I feel that Yorkshire have a huge edge in the bowling department. Reckon Mcgrath is due a decent score also.
