GaF
Re: Pop Quiz (part XXXII) - Call, Raise or Shove? Shove for me :ok I'm not THAT bothered if he folds and I pick up the 1400 in the pot uncontested.... I MIGHT show if he folds though, to try and restore a bit of credibility and demonstrate that when I shove, I might have a monster.... aimar21
Re: Pop Quiz (part XXXII) - Call, Raise or Shove? Easy shove for me because after 3 pushes without a call this would deffo get a call. re-raising might even scream a premium pair..
daftpegasus
Re: Pop Quiz (part XXXII) - Call, Raise or Shove? Forget your cards, what cards do you put Mike on? He's the chip leader (by a little distance) and can afford to lose 800 chips without worrying too much. He's just seen you shove the last 3 hands and knows it's now your BB. Why does he put in a minimum raise? Either it's a poor attempt at a big stack steal, bullying the rest of the table (poor because it's only a minimum raise). He's only asking the BB to put another 400 chips in - a wide range of hands could give the BB pot odds to call. Or, he's picked up a good hand and wants at least one caller. Now we know that he can't have picked up a better hand than you, but if he has any pp and you shove, he calls, if he hits then you're out on the bubble. He'd still be left with an average sized stack if he loses an AI shove from you. Therefore despite the fact that you've got the best hand you have a lot more to lose. In the previous 3 hands you're shoving because you don't want a call (a call probably means you're dominanted). You don't have the same objective here. I'm with Jaded on this. A raise might scream premium pp but I'm interested to know what 2 cards he's playing without it risking my tournament life. If he knows I have a premium pp and decides to shove then so be it. Pocket Lady
Re: Pop Quiz (part XXXII) - Call, Raise or Shove? As you have won all the previous hands with an all in I would say that you may not get called at all. I would raise the pot and hope that he hangs himself. :ok

happyhornet
Re: Pop Quiz (part XXXII) - Call, Raise or Shove? GaF makes a valid point here, but I'm with TQM. I'd shove here. If he calls he is an underdog. If he wins and you are out on the bubble, so be it. If he calls and you win, you are up to 8000 odd chips and in total control of the game. goater14
Re: Pop Quiz (part XXXII) - Call, Raise or Shove? definite shove for me, big favorite if he calls which I would expect him to after your previous all-ins
robilaruk
Re: Pop Quiz (part XXXII) - Call, Raise or Shove? thaks all for the replies so far - split between the min re-raise and shove - no one wants to call and get the rest of his chips on a potential rag flop then? I'll post what happened tomorrow, to give others a chance to have a think Damo ps I know what I should have done now (and its not guided by what actually happened :eyes)
robilaruk
Re: Pop Quiz (part XXXII) - Call, Raise or Shove? daftpegasus
Re: Pop Quiz (part XXXII) - Call, Raise or Shove? Call - no matter what the final 2 cards are you have won the hand. Pray he has 99. His minimum bet is hoping to put you off the pot by indicating he has the Ace. You know he hasn't and your call will tell him you have. After that I'd check call the turn and min raise the river but I would not expect him to call.
happyhornet
Re: Pop Quiz (part XXXII) - Call, Raise or Shove? You have to flat call, and hope to your chosen deity that he has hit something!

robilaruk
Re: Pop Quiz (part XXXII) - Call, Raise or Shove? I did just flat call and predictably he didn't bet the turn, so i bet the river and he folded - I did show tho! In hindsight I should have shoved PF and hoped he call with his PP - I have a feeling he had something decent like KK-JJ, its the sort of min raise play typical of someone who wants some action but not loads Damo ***** Hand 711541594 ***** 200.00/400.00 Texas Hold'em (No Limit ) - 07 August 2007 21:42:04 STT $20 NL (Real /Tournament ) Seat 4: MikeHunty (6310.00) Seat 5: duende (2090.00) Seat 8: stefan0303 (2500.00) Seat 10: robilaruk (4100.00) stefan0303 post SB 200.00 robilaruk post BB 400.00 ** Deal ** MikeHunty [N/A, N/A] duende [N/A, N/A] stefan0303 [N/A, N/A] robilaruk [Ac, Ad] *** Bet Round 1 *** MikeHunty Raise to 800.00 duende Fold stefan0303 Fold robilaruk Call 800.00 *** Flop(Board): *** : [Ah, 9c, As] *** Bet Round 2 *** robilaruk Check MikeHunty Bet 800.00 robilaruk Call 800.00 *** Turn(Board): *** : [Ah, 9c, As, 6s] *** Bet Round 3 *** robilaruk Check MikeHunty Check *** River(Board): *** : [Ah, 9c, As, 6s, 6d] *** Bet Round 4 *** robilaruk Bet 800.00 MikeHunty Fold *** Showdown *** : Rake: 0.00 Total Pot: 3400.00 MikeHunty Fold Win: 0.00 duende Fold Win: 0.00 stefan0303 Fold Win: 0.00 robilaruk By default Win: 6800.
