Re: WSOP Main Event The Shark Likes Aces Humberto Brenes raised 30,000 and Willie Tann called from the button. The flop was qc.gifqd.gif5c.gif. Brenes fired out 10,000 and Tann called. The turn was the 9s.gif. Brenes bet 25,000 and Tann called. The river was the 5d.gif. Brenes bet 100,000 and Tann called. Brenes flipped over ah.gifac.gif. Tann mucked his hand. Brenes increased his stack to 380,000, as Tan slipped to 620,000

Re: WSOP Main Event

Turning the Tables Andrew Barnes raised to 25,000 from middle position and Ron Kluber moved all-in for 506,000 from the small blind. Barnes called and showed KK, Kluber had A-K and looked to be in serious danger of elimination. Until the 4-A-3 flop, that is. Barnes didn't catch a King on the turn or river and the Ace Kluber flopped not only reversed the advantage in the hand, it also reversed their chip counts. Kluber now sits with 1.1 million while Barnes is down to 420,000.
maybe its me but why are they playing like magyars? blinds are 5K/10K and he shoves for 1/2 mill - why? why shove when you have 50BB?? why not pop it to between 80-120K? They are 2 hour levels, why increase your volitility by shoving when a smaller raise or even call with position to play a stop n go might be a better play? just mad IMHO Damo

Re: WSOP Main Event magyars again? this is why I will never play at the WSOP - I would never make the shove with the KQ - I might call with the 89 for the str/flush/st flush Damo

Dario Minieri vs. Philip Hilm On a flop of da.gif10s.gif6s.gif, Dario Minieri moved all in for 561,000 and Philip Hilm quickly called. Hilm: 9s.gif8s.gif Minieri: ks.gifqh.gif

Re: WSOP Main Event 74 minutes ago Gus Hansen Takes A Pot From Francois Safieddine After seeing his stack slip a bit in the early going, Hansen took a pot from Safieddine after making a 171,000 bet with the board reading 5s.gifJc.gif8d.gifQc.gif. That pot brought Hansen's stack back up to 1.45 million.

Re: WSOP Main Event 40 minutes ago Gus Hansen Is Crippled By Jason Koshi Before the flop Hansen called Koshi's 60,000 raise and they saw a flop of Ad.gifQc.gifAc.gif. Koshi bet 78,000, Hansen raised 100K more, Koshi re-raised to 237,000, and Hansen moved all-in. Koshi called with Ah.gifKc.gif, crushing Hansen's As.gif2c.gif. The 3c.gif on the turn and 9s.gif on the river didn't save Hansen and he was left with 410,000.

Re: WSOP Main Event 17 minutes ago "I Got The Nuts, Baby" With the board reading Jc.gif4s.gif2s.gif9c.gif Kevin Kim bet 150,000 and Scotty Nguyen called. The 5c.gif hit on the river and when Kim checked, Scotty moved all-in. Kim thought a long, long time before saying, "If I fold you'll show the bluff." Kim finally mucked his hand, and Scotty said, "I got the nuts, baby"...and turned over 7s.gif8s.gif for the busted flush draw. He's up to 2.7 million while Kim is down to 500,000.

Re: WSOP Main Event 13 minutes ago The Cost Per Round In Dan Harrington's book "Harrington on Hold'em" he introduces readers to the concept of "M," which is just a fancy way of referring to what it costs a player in blinds and antes to play one orbit in a tournament. At the current blind level, 12,000-24,000 with a 3,000 ante, it costs players 63,000 just to play one round. With the current average stack of 1,428,700, the average chip stack's "M" is 22.67 (meaning, they could fold every hand for 22 2/3 orbits before going broke). According to Harrington, an "M" of 5 is considered a short stack while an "M" of 30 or more is a very comfortable stack to play with.

Re: WSOP Main Event This is the guy who's chip leader :ok 2 minutes ago Player Profile: Dag Martin Mikkelsen Dag Martin Mikkelsen ended Day 4 of the WSOP as the chipleader. He's not well-known in America, but if you play online, you might have come across "dmmikkel." He frequently can be found playing cash games or SNGs on PokerStars. Mikkelsen doesn't have too much live experience since he's just 21 years old. He has played a few events on the EPT, but this is the first year he's playing in the WSOP. Originally from Stavanger, Norway, he started out as an online sports bettor gambling on soccer matches. One site that he wagered on offered micro-limit poker and that's where Dag Martin Mikkelsen got his start. He switched sites and quickly jumped up in levels. He's been playing $500 and $1,000 SNGs. He's also made two final tables at the PokerStars Sunday Million. In a previous interview, Mikkelsen said his favorite player was Phil Ivey. When asked about five words to describe himself, he mentioned... arrogant, aggressive, calm, confident, and paranoid.

Re: WSOP Main Event You mean legitimately? Details on www.worldseriesofpoker.com Free like last year, I think we need to wait till broadcast has started for a chance..... 6 minutes ago Scott Nguyen and the Re-Raise Bluff Reagan Silber raised to 140,000 from early position, Stig Tap Rasmussen called from late position, and Scotty Nguyen made it 415,000 to go from the button. Both Silber and Rasmussen folded, and Nguyen showed the 2d.gif. "I thought it was an ace!" quipped Nguyen, as he pretended to throw his glasses across the room.

Re: WSOP Main Event Less than 90 left.... 3 minutes ago A Good Time For Aces Pocket Aces are always welcome, but especially so when you've lost a few big hands and are badly short-stacked. Gus Hansen just looked down at bullets and moved in the last of his 389,000. Ryan Elson called with Ac.gif10c.gif and, after the 7c.gif9d.gif3s.gif flop and 4c.gif on the turn, he picked up a flush draw. Elson was bouncing up and down by the table calling "One more club!", and on the river...the 4s.gif. Gus saw the black card and hung his head for a moment before scooping in a pot that lifted him back to 1 million. Elson is down to 2 million. 14 minutes ago Recent Eliminations The following players all won $67,535: 99 - Joe Shield 98 - Alan Levin 97 - Chad Brown 96 - Dario Minieri 95 - Kelly Jo McGlothin 94 - Isaac Haxton 93 - Michael Zinna 92 - Charis Anatasiou 91 - Cory Carroll

spacer.gif
2 minutes ago Aces Giveth, and Aces Taketh Away After doubling up with pocket Aces a bit earlier in the day Gus Hansen just lost half his stack after he ran up against them. He raised to 74,000 and Allan King moved all-in for 500,000. King was just moved to the table and Hansen said, "I have absolutely no idea what you have." He thought it over a bit more and said, "This is a big chunk of my money..I won a big pot with this hand...I call." His pocket Tens trailed badly and the 5d.gifJh.gif7d.gif4c.gif7c.gif board gave the 1.2 million pot to King, while Gus was left with just 420,000.

Re: WSOP Main Event Hevad Khan Eliminates Humberto Brenes After Brenes raised to 85,000 from middle position Hevad "Rain" Khan re-raised from the big blind to 205,000. And as he always does in these situations Brenes got up from his chair and, with a great flourish, announced "All-In!" And Khan instantly called. Yes, the Shark's ah.gifkh.gif had run into pocket Aces. A huge roar rose from the crowd as the flop was dealt and spectators watching at the outer tables rushed over to the ESPN Feature Table to watch the action on the TV screens. The 3s.gif5s.gifks.gif paired Humberto but gave Khan the nut flush draw, and after the 4d.gif hit on the turn Brenes needed a King to stay alive. The were calls of "King, King" from the crowd as the dealer burned and turned the 10s.gif to give the pot to Khan and eliminate Humberto Brenes from the Main Event.

Re: WSOP Main Event Gus Hansen Eliminated in 61st Place ($154,194) Gus Hansen raised to 93,000 from under the gun. Ryan Elson moved all in for 694,000 from the small blind. Hansen had Elson covered and made the call. The players showed... Hansen: as.gifkd.gif Elson: js.gifjh.gif Hansen failed to improve and Elson's jacks were best. Gus was left with about 100,000. A few hands later, Hansen was on the button and moved all in for his last 99,000. Jason Koshi called from the big blind and the players turned up their cards... Hansen: kc.gif5s.gif Koshi: qd.gif4d.gif Koshi spiked the 4c.gif on the turn to win the hand and send Gus Hansen to the rail in 61st place. Re: WSOP Main Event No 'runaway train' seemingly emerging like when Greg Raymer and Jamie Gold won in their years. Yet. It could be a fairly lively betting heat (come on bookies! Pull your fingers out! You were so much better last year!). Lee Watkinson's poker credibility is probably going to up a fair bit if he makes the final table. Scotty Nguyen's reputation is probably gonna skyrocket if he does. Alex Kravchenko and Bill Edler are two bracelet winners from this year still remaining. Either of them could put a tick box on a list of achievements if they made the final table to have a fairly remarkable year so far. Maria Ho's rep is probably whatever happens after this is going to be a lot kinder than say oooh, Tiffany 'Crazy Bitch' Williamson. I hope Maria doesn't go down the Liz Lieu route of promoting herself.
