Re: AFL Football - Round 6 (May 4th - 6th) Score Predictor Brisbane 107 Fremantle 85 Melbourne 85 Port Adelaide 113 Richmond 74 Geelong 111 It’s been a tough round on the punt so far, but it’s been good to see some Melbourne clubs stick it up the interstaters. There are some worrying signs in Adelaide after being blown off the park by the Pies. A huge effort by the Kangas to hold off the Swans. What a thrilling final quarter, as exciting as any I’ve seen for a while. Hopefully the Roos can get a full house against the Bombers next week, because their brand off footy is terrific. The Lions have a tremendous record against the Dockers and will be fully tested here. Pavlich and Tarrant hold the key against inexperienced opponents. A hot day in Brisbane won’t help their cause and that is the main factor why I predict a home victory. The return of Neitz is a huge bonus for Melbourne against Port. The Demons always match up well against Port particularly through the middle. Port are due for a downer and will miss Wilson and Salopek. Weather shouldn’t influence the game. Currently overcast with perhaps a shower or two throughout the day with no breeze..Tough to call, but I won’t be betting in this. The moment of truth is here for Geelong. Losing is not an option. Richmond coach Terry Wallace has already given up on the season by removing Gaspar with Tivendale heading the same way. I just think this will be a similar game to Geelong’s thrashing of Carlton in round 2. Richmond have been good without winning, and they are overdue to be blown out of the water, and the Cats are the team to do it. Suggested Bet

GEELONG Points (-18.5) Good luck.

Re: AFL Football - Round 6 (May 4th - 6th)

Great effort to get 5 so far :ok I am an hour from Melbourne and fine and cloudy day today. Reckon the ground should be ok and probably not too much rain...Be pretty wet next week when Ads and Jeffer's tears gather full momentum after another Carlton loss...Poor Ads and Jeffers, got caught up in the Blues wonderlust and got memberships on the spot :rollin and they havn't won a game since :rollin. Will they beat Collingwood next week? Even Jeffers is awe inspired by the Mighty Magpies last night :nana Weather forecast for today: Fine and partly cloudy. Moderate westerly wind tending southwesterly this afternoon and easing.
Thanks, Bjv...doesn't look to be anything on the radar at this stage...no total posted tho... Clement and Presti doubtful next week tho...could hurt the much vaunted D, and pave the way for a Fev lead mauling!! :rollin

Re: AFL Football - Round 6 (May 4th - 6th) Well done on the tip 8 Taza, incredible tipping considering some of the results this round :clap :clap :clap This is good watching this flogging of Richmond, not even Carlton were this bad in their darkest days a few years back. I wonder if Terry Wallace will be on borrowed time now?

Re: AFL Football - Round 6 (May 4th - 6th) I'll go out on a limb early, and say rubbish Ash ;) Mind you, with WC likely to kick 5.20 or something similar they have to be a chance, yeah? Speaking of venue's, the Saints are the team to watch right now...something like 12 of the last 16 at the Dome!!!!!!! Oh, lots of winners there!! And sorry, Ash...your value Wooden Spoon picks look in dire trouble! :D The Tiges just about have the market cornered I'd suspect! (Thanks Ads...just happy it translated to a profit for a change! :D)

Re: AFL Football - Round 6 (May 4th - 6th) Just while I'm at it...do any of you Australian guys play Tipstar tipping? Don't mean to come across as a tosser here, but I won (well, equal won) the first year (2001?)... ...nice little $25, 000 in the pocket. 4 of us split the $100k prize...and the 4 of us tipped thru the finals to get the eventual winner and the 'extra' $50k. (Free trip to the GF too which was great.) I missed out by picking the Hawks to beat Essendon as big 'dogs in the prelim, only to watch Trent Croad hit the post from about 65m and fall short in what would have been one of the biggest comebacks in finals history! (Only 2 of us picked Brisbane to win the Flag...the other guy left the MCG in a limo and $50 grand...I left drunk, and staggered around Melbourne bars until the plane ride home to Tassie the next morning...) Ahhh....the days when picking 8 was more of a normality, rather than an excitable one off!! :( (Sorry, the reason I brought that up was 'cause I might get $2-300 for picking 8 this week?)

Re: AFL Football - Round 6 (May 4th - 6th) Don't play it, never been good at tipping 7 or 8. I imagine you'll get about 1,300 though. It wasn't that hard a round... 2,300 would be pretty rare. Edit: Actually maybe a tad more... it really comes down to how many people tipped kangas.

Re: AFL Football - Round 6 (May 4th - 6th) Of note about Geelong is the three wins were to Carl, Melb, Rich - check your ladders ;). They do begin to play games (seven from now) at skilled which will be an advantage during the winter conditions. Losses to Hawks, Kangas maybe not such bad form as it looks now. April's done, so as with most clubs, we start to see who teams really are from about now IMO. I think I mentioned Bris, Carl and Melb as value, Taza. Well, it's a long way to go and things change so I'm far happier riding the 5.9 Melb and 14.00 Carl from couple weeks ago than banking on Richmond as a sure thing - I think :unsure :D .

Re: AFL Football - Round 6 (May 4th - 6th) 25G don't sound too bad at all Taza, and just for sitting on your bum. :ok Never gone in Tipstar but two seasons back in the local papers comp I finished equal second with two others. Of course they just paid three prizes and via some novelty count back system I was relegated fourth. The other two got the room at Crown Casino and television respectively and I got zero. Made me recall in 2000 I had the footy qaud in the palm of the hand for $30,000. Needed Adel to beat Coll 1-12 or Coll win 25-36, plus blowout margins either each way. In an arm wrestle Adel led 1-12 all day long only to have Coll kick two in the last two minutes. Really enjoyed that one :puke

I tipped just four and if this gives an indication, my tipping comp just two from 1087 tipped eight
