Re: F1 Season Prev/Bets AND Australian GP (18/3) I don't mind the price of Heikki Kovalinaen for the Aus GP. Renault have a decent record at Albert Park and if there is one thing Renault have been in the past few seasons it's reliable, which is quite important in the early races. I'll also be interested to see how my man Mark Webber and RBR go this year. It'll be their first season with a Newey designed car, and Newey chassis' have been nothing short of excellent in previous seasons. For the Driver's Championship I'm not sure I like the skinny odds on Raikkonen. Ferrari without Braun and a few other key technical personnel from previous years is a bit of an unknown for me. Massa went well in testing though and having knowledge of Ferrari's set-up and car will be a bonus, particularly in early rounds. If that happens then Ferrari will be reluctant to give Kimi #1 status which will be important if betting on Massa. I haven't done so yet but am quite tempted to.

Re: F1 Season Prev/Bets AND Australian GP (18/3) My title preview and bets So then, the 2007 season is soon to get underway, and it’s the start of a new era without Michael Schumacher. The Ferrari legend has now retired, which leaves the door open for others. I’m pretty sure that had Schumi decided to give it a go this season, then he would’ve won the title. Quite simply I’m all over Kimi Raikkonen to win it this year. Ferrari has many advantages over the rest of the pack, none more so than knowing the Bridgestone tyres very well. Teams like Mclaren and Renault have been on Michelins for many years and will not have as much data as the Italian outfit. The constructors should be a walkover for Ferrari, they are the only top team with 2 proven top drivers. The title race will be between Massa, Kimi and Alonso. I would be amazed if anyone else managed to get into the mixer. The question is who will start as no 1 driver for Ferrari?? In the past they have also ways had a stand out top man, but this season they don’t. Massa has proved himself to be very quick and has the support of many at the team. Kimi I rate to be the best driver in F1 but it doesn’t give him the divine right to be no1. The two drivers will be fighting among each other, but this is Ferrari and the team will ensure nothing silly is done. I have the feeling Kimi will be quicker anyway and should establish himself at the top of the standings early. At the moment, Ferrari definitely have the edge. They have been fastest in testing and the general consensus is that they have a little bit more than their rivals. I’d expect Mclaren to eventually catch up but it might take a few races. I think Ferrari should start with a bang this weekend and probably dominate right from the off. They have definitely not started the season well in the last 2 years, but in the past they were always superbly out of the traps. Scudderia winning 5 of the last 8 here in Albert Park. On a betting point of view, Ferrari for the constructors looks to be a banker surely. Even if Alonso does win the world championship, I doubt Hamilton will get as many points. He’s a rookie and cant be expected to do too much. Ferrari look nailed on to get this title. The drivers I think will go the way of Kimi. Hes a class driver and just hasn’t always had the equipment to show it. Now for the first time he will start the season in the best car. In late 2005 we saw him dominate F1 - the reason was because Mclaren were better, and he capitalised. It wasn’t enough to win him the title then, but he should have too much this season. I’ll be betting on him outright for sure Bets:- Ferrari constructors championship @ 1.80 Betandgame Raikkonen drivers championship @ 3.0 Sportingodds

Re: F1 Season Prev/Bets AND Australian GP (18/3) I could go for other long terms bets involving some of the other teams, but I've never been one to have too much money floating around all year in bookies accounts. For the race this weekend I'll be taking a look at quite a few markets, especially points finishes which can be a goldmine.

Re: F1 Season Prev/Bets AND Australian GP (18/3) Right, im very a confident a Ferrari will be on pole, the question is who? Raikkonen pole @ 3.50 canbet (3/10) Massa has generally been fastest in practice sessions and the most impressive, but I have the feeling Kimi has been holding a bit back. Most of his runs have beenlong ones and he has fast laps in him. He might be content with 2nd on the grid and go high fuel, but I'm still gonna have a few stakes on him. Massa is of course the danger, i;d be surprised if anyone else got into the mixer, unless they go really low fuel. Raikonnen race win @ 3.50 Portlandbet (5/10) For the race, it's sure to be between the 2 Ferraris again IMO. And once more I'm going to side with the Finn here. Bookies actually have Massa as slight favuorite at the moment, and whilst he is a good driver, Kimi is better IMO. Over the race distance, I expect him to win this, and only mechanical fault should stop him. I cant see Alonso getting into the mixer much, he will be content with a podium as the Mclaren isnt up to scratch yet. Their aim for the first few races is to stay in touch at the top and accumulate points. I'll bet now for the race as after qualifying this price wont last. Button to get in the points @ 2.75 Sporting Odds (5/10) My other race bet for the moment is Button points@ 2.75. HUGE price IMO and surely a Sporting odds error. Most other bookies go odds on for this. Even if I didnt fancy him for points, then this is a must bet for sure. All he need do is get top 8 which he is more than capable of doing

Re: F1 Season Prev/Bets AND Australian GP (18/3)

Hmmm. This market from Blue Square...isn't this just 'Pole Position'? :\ f1-ausgp-bs.jpg
No, not quite. For example, Felipe Massa could set the fastest time in qualifying after replacing his engine during free practice. Whilst he'd have the fastest time he wouldn't be on pole as you are demoted 10 places for a engine change. Ditto if you are given a stewards penalty like Sato was a couple of years ago for blocking.

Re: F1 Season Prev/Bets AND Australian GP (18/3) Massa goes out in the 2nd qualifying sesssion, some sort of technical problem :D Now that hes out of the way, Kimi has a superb chance to get pole. I'm extremely confident of cashing in now :tongue2

Re: F1 Season Prev/Bets AND Australian GP (18/3)

Nice work so far Meatman. Barring a mechanical **** up or some major safety car controversy (Which I wouldn't rule out in this race) you are looking pretty good. Was fairly happy about Webber's performance and thought the BMW team surprised.
yeh ive seen safety cars in this race before, hopefully not tommorow lol BMW deffo the surprise - along with Super Aguri. hopefully will be Kimi - Alonso - ??? 3rd podium spot up for grabs IMO. Hamilton on debut is going to be nervous, could make some errors. Dont rule out Massa coming from 15th - he is in a really fast car.

Re: F1 Season Prev/Bets AND Australian GP (18/3) Gone for a couple more bets here Massa podium @ 4.50 (2/10) This must be worth 2 units IMO. Massa has the best car on the grid, although had some problems in qualifying. I've seen people come from the back of this grid before, Alonso in 2005 a typical example. His major problem will probably be the Mclaren of Lewis Hamilton, who has a decent car under him. But hopefully the rookie will crack. Massa will have to work hard, but he is really fast and I think he could make the top 3. Massa fastest lap @ 2.50 (2/10) Again I think this is worth a a decent bet. The fastest lap should realistically come form one of the Ferraris. Kimi is more than capable buyt Massa is going to be absolutely gung ho down at the back of the field. We've seen him do this before and this bet is definitely worth a small punt IMO Webber points @ 2.25 (3/10) On home turf, Mark Webber is going to be extra motivated. Hes a good driver and riding in a decent car. We saw in qualifyuing that this Red Bull hasp plenty of potential, and he is sure to give it a solid drive. Unless a mechanical problem kicks in, then I'd say he looks quite good for a top 8 finish. Odds offered are 2.25 which is a decent price IMO. Rosberg points @ 4.0 (1/10) A bit of a stab in the dark here, but I think this is overpriced. Nico is a decent drvier and always a solid performer with the potential for speed. There are worries about the Williams here but he managed to qualify in 12th position. From there he isnt in too bad shape, and with a bit of luck can just nick into the top 8. The teams I fancy could be a flop are Super Aguri and Toyota. Super Aguri have done superbly to get intp this position, but in race conditions I dont fancy them for the top 8. Toyota as well are never reliable over the full distance. My Button bet is fcuked as well, Honda are looking awful here, not a prayer My predicted finish:- Raikkonen -Alonso- Massa- Hamilton - Heidfeld - Fisichella - Webber - Rosberg

Re: F1 Season Prev/Bets AND Australian GP (18/3) Backed Massa for podium finish @ 4.8... think he has the class to make up the difference in the field quickly and take at least 3rd! Wouldn't suprise me if he went on to win! I doubt Alonso will win while he's still finding his feet in new car which would otherwise leave Raikkonen in the clear! I think Button will finish in the points too as he under qualified so will be looking to make up the gap! As for Hamilton I can imagine him having a plucky race but something happening to his car or a mistake forcing him out of the race.

Re: F1 Season Prev/Bets AND Australian GP (18/3) Alonso overtakes Lewis in the pits Mclaren deffo fixed that by putting way more fuel in Alonsos car at the 1st stop. He was held up byh traffic, but no way were Mclaren going to let the Spaniard drop points
