ATP Amersfoort/Indianapolis/Stuttgart 17th-23rd July

I had stopped doing the outrights, however, after making a comeback and having a good week I've suddenly found my enthusiasm for them:tongue2. Outright and Monday selections will appear tonight. Amersfoort: (1) CORIA, Guillermo ARG v (WC) HAASE, Robin NED ROITMAN, Sergio ARG v (SE) CILIC, Marin CRO GREMELMAYR, Denis GER v CALLERI, Agustin ARG (WC) SIJSLING, Igor NED v (7) BRACCIALI, Daniele ITA (3) DJOKOVIC, Novak SCG v PASHANSKI, Boris SCG Qualifier v ZIB, Tomas CZE GICQUEL, Marc FRA v VICENTE, Fernando ESP (WC) DE BAKKER, Thiemo NED v (8) BENNETEAU, Julien FRA (5) MOYA, Carlos ESP v GARCIA-LOPEZ, Guillermo ESP Qualifier v Qualifier MARIN, Juan Antonio CRC v SANGUINETTI, Davide ITA Qualifier v (4) MASSU, Nicolas CHI (6) MARTIN, Alberto ESP v MONTANES, Albert ESP MINAR, Ivo CZE v MASSA, Edgardo ARG BERLOCQ, Carlos ARG v RAMIREZ HIDALGO, Ruben ESP DI MAURO, Alessio ITA v (2) MATHIEU, Paul-Henri FRA Got the balls to back Coria? Djokovic is favourite but he isn't consistant enough to justify it yet IMO. Bottom half Moya is still struggling with injury and is inconsistant anyway. I quite like Masu who was playing well last week, but I need to see who the qualifier is he plays first;). Indianapolis: (1) BLAKE, James USA v Bye CAKL, Tomas CZE v UDOMCHOKE, Danai THA Qualifier v GIMELSTOB, Justin USA Bye v (16WC) SAFIN, Marat RUS (10) MAHUT, Nicolas FRA v Bye ALVES, Thiago BRA v REYNOLDS, Bobby USA HEALEY, Nathan AUS v BASTL, George SUI Bye v (5WC) HAAS, Tommy GER (3) GONZALEZ, Fernando CHI v Bye TIPSAREVIC, Janko SCG v (WC) QUERREY, Sam USA LISNARD, Jean-Rene MON v MELLO, Ricardo BRA Bye v (14) SPADEA, Vincent USA (9WC) MALISSE, Xavier BEL v Bye LEE, Hyung-Taik KOR v (SE) PHILIPPOUSSIS, Mark AUS BECKER, Benjamin GER v NAVARRO PASTOR, Ivan ESP Bye v (7) TURSUNOV, Dmitry RUS (8) SRICHAPHAN, Paradorn THA v Bye Qualifier v Qualifier LU, Yen-Hsun TPE v SABAU, Razvan ROM Bye v (11) GOLDSTEIN, Paul USA (15) KUNITSYN, Igor RUS v Bye BURGSMULLER, Lars GER v FLEISHMAN, Zack USA FALLA, Alejandro COL v FAUREL, Jean-Christophe FRA Bye v (4) GINEPRI, Robby USA (6) HRBATY, Dominik SVK v Bye CARLSEN, Kenneth DEN v Qualifier BEHREND, Tomas GER v CAPDEVILLE, Paul CHI Bye v (12) MULLER, Gilles LUX (13) KIM, Kevin USA v Bye MORRISON, Jeff USA v GONZALEZ, Santiago MEX DELGADO, Ramon PAR v DELIC, Amer USA Bye v (2) RODDICK, Andy USA Top half looks very tough, I initially wanted to back Blake but not with that draw. I know he's having a shocking year (by very high standards) but the obvious selection Roddick looks pretty good to me. The other "name" guys in that half (Srichaphan, Ginepri, Hrbaty) are alos having very poor years. Stuttgart: 1) GAUDIO, Gaston ARG v Bye ZABALETA, Mariano ARG v WASKE, Alexander GER SARETTA, Flavio BRA v PORTAS, Albert ESP Bye v (13) HORNA, Luis PER (12) MIRNYI, Max BLR v Bye MELZER, Jurgen AUT v KOHLSCHREIBER, Philipp GER MONACO, Juan ARG v BERRER, Michael GER Bye v (6) VLIEGEN, Kristof BEL (4) ROCHUS, Olivier BEL v Bye VANEK, Jiri CZE v GABASHVILI, Teimuraz RUS (WC) POPP, Torsten GER v MARACH, Oliver AUT Bye v (16) GASQUET, Richard FRA (11) YOUZHNY, Mikhail RUS v Bye SCHUETTLER, Rainer GER v GREUL, Simon GER SEPPI, Andreas ITA v NORMAN, Dick BEL Bye v (5) ACASUSO, Jose ARG (8) CHELA, Juan Ignacio ARG v Bye PAVEL, Andrei ROM v Qualifier (WC) BECK, Andreas GER v MAYER, Florian GER Bye v (9) SIMON, Gilles FRA (15) PHAU, Bjorn GER v Bye DLOUHY, Lukas CZE v WAWRINKA, Stanislas SUI Qualifier v NOVAK, Jiri CZE Bye v (3) FERRER, David ESP (7) SERRA, Florent FRA v Bye Qualifier v (WC) RIESCHICK, Sebastian GER Qualifier v VIK, Robin CZE Bye v (10) ALMAGRO, Nicolas ESP (14) VOLANDRI, Filippo ITA v Bye ROCHUS, Christophe BEL v Qualifier (WC) KINDLMANN, Dieter GER v Qualifier Bye v (2) BERDYCH, Tomas CZE Mmm, Gasquet to get a double? Not too sure, especially with him being favourite. Not too sure about Berdych in the bottom half either. Perhaps Ferrer or Almagro? Anyone know about an injury to Ferrer? Scoreline last week against Soderling is a bit worrying.

EventATP Amersfoort
SelectionMASSU outright E/W (1/2, 1,2) (Each-Way)
Strength5/10
Date23/07/2006
Bookmaker/PriceStan James @ 8.00 (Back)
ReasoningMassu is my pick in Holland this week. He won this tournament a couple of years ago and has a very good 10-2 record here - actually all of the Chile players (Massu, Gonzalez, Rios) has done well and won here so this is obviously a place they like. He was playing pretty well last week and got a good win against Acasuso before running into Davydenko. Here his draw looks pretty good. The other big dog in his quarter is Moya, but he's been struggling with a shoulder injury and was awful last week so we can't be too sure about him here. Bottom quarter with Martin and Mathieu doesn't hold anything fo Massu to fear. Top half is interesting with Argentines Calleri and Coria aswell as Djokovic the main guys - not sure who'll come through, don't like Djokovic as favourite but not sure there's enough class (except Coria) to beat him. Massu I think is a sensible option at a pretty solid price.
Haven't decided on the other two yet;)

Re: ATP Amersfoort/Indianapolis/Stuttgart 17th-23rd July I didn't hear anything about an injury to Ferrer. Doesn't mention anything on his site anyway. I backed him against Soderling but looking at his record this year he's done very little on clay. Seems to be better on faster surfaces this year.

Re: ATP Amersfoort/Indianapolis/Stuttgart 17th-23rd July Ive gone for Almagro e/w, Srichaphan e/w and Blake e/w. Almagro e/w @ 8.5 This guy has been playing great tennis on clay this year. He has had lapses and his transition back to clay after the grass season was not that successful but he beat Berdych a very good clay court player. He ran into Calleri who was in form. I dont see anyone in the draw who he cant beat to be honest with Gasquet being the favourite, however, he will be tired from his win in Gstaad. He has already beaten Berdych in the last week and Gaudio is hit and miss. He should feel comfortable on clay again and hopefully will be bang on form. Srichaphan e/w @ 19 He hasnt been playing that well but he is back to his favourite surface. A few months ago everyone wrote him off to lose in the first round of the Indian Wells Masters. He managed to beat players such as Ginepri (good on US hard courts), Nieminen, Nalbandian, Ferrero however he eventually lost to Federer. He seems to have an easy quarter and could get to the semi finals quite easily with the best player he could play being Ginepri. Hardly impossible to get by. Although he is last years winner, he isnt playing nearly to the same high standard as he was last year when he reached the semi finals of the US Open. Should Srichaphan get to the semi finals he would most likely play an out of sorts Roddick who he could give a match against. In this side of the draw he definitely holds the most value. Blake e/w @ 5.5 When I think of US Outdoor Hard courts I think of James Blake. This boy doesnt lose often on US Outdoor Hard courts. In fact this year he has played in three tournaments on this sort of court, he won Las Vegas beating Srichaphan, Karlovic and Hewitt. He also reached the finals of Indian Wells losing to Roger Federer and the QFs of Miami losing to Roger Federer! Federer isnt in this tournament so it is Blakes for the taking. As well as this, he has played 2matches in Davis Cup in the US on this surface and won them both in straight sets. He could meet Safin but for Safin to beat him it would mean he would have to win 2games in a row for the first time this year. He could meet Haas but he has a 3-0 h2h record against Haas and he hasnt been playing great tennis throughout the clay and grass court season anyway. He could play Roddick in the final but he beat Roddick on grass (Roddicks favourite surface IMO) and I cant see him losing to Roddick when hes not playing well and seems so one dimensional. Im quite big on blake. GL

ReasoningTop half looks to be between Gasquet and Gaudio and I don't want to back either. Gasquet is the form guy but does he have enough gas left in the tank for another win? I'm not so sure and I don't like his price. Gaudio is still inconsistant and although he played pretty well last week Gasquet was able to out class him. So I look to the bottom half and I see Almagro to be the man. The main dangers seem to be Berdych and Ferrer. Well, Almagro was playing pretty well last week and beat Berdych. Ferrer lost very poorly to Soderling last week and in this tournament last year lost easily to Monaco so I have to question his motivation at this time of year. At the end of the clay court season I thought Almagro was being really over rated, especially in outright markets, but that euphoria seems to have passed and I think he's a decent price here.

Re: ATP Amersfoort/Indianapolis/Stuttgart 17th-23rd July I had a small free bet on bet365 so I stuck it on Ginepri at 15.0. I know he's been shit recently but he's the defending champion, has a favourable draw and a figured I'd go for a decent price seeing as it's free. Nothing I really like tomorrow so just did a small treble for interest. Wawrinka, Calleri and Mathieu.

EventC. Rochus vs D. Junqueira
SelectionC. Rochus to win
Strength10/10
Date17/07/2006
Bookmaker/Price>Betfair @ 1.37 (Back)
ReasoningChristophe Rochus is at least one class above Diego Junqueira. Rochus played nice tennis at the begining of the yearon hard, than he also played good on clay but suffered injury in second round of French Open. Last week he won against Fernando Vicente 6-1 4-6 6-2 in first round but lost to Gaston Gaudio 6-0 6-4. Now, today he will face up against Diego Junqueira. Junqueira plays quite poor latelly. Diego lost four matches in a row before he won last week against Dawid Olejniczak in three sets. But, one day after he lost to Ilija Bozoljac taking only two sets. Latelly he was losing against names like Jan Hernych, Jiri Vanek, Tomas Behrend, Sergio Roitman etc. I believe Christophe Rochus won't have too much problems today. Junqueira has never won against player of a class Rochus is, and I don't believe today will happen a miracle although Rochus isn't in his life form.

Re: ATP Amersfoort/Indianapolis/Stuttgart 17th-23rd July

Mr Intensity are you still doing the qualifiers strategy? You said you dont go over odds of 5.00, are there any odds you dont go under? Like 1.20?
Yeah mate I do. All the details are here: http://www.punterslounge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23306&page=17 I think I'd go to any price. The shortest I've seen this season is about 1.25 (actually got one today at 1.278). But I'd play any short price (there'd have to be a really good reason for a qualifier to be that short). I remember last season on clay, when Gasquet was tearing it up he had to qualify for something and played Srichaphan in the first round, I think he was best price 1.16 - I would have taken that for the system.

SelectionQuerrey
Strength10/10
Date17/07/2006
Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 2.15 (Back)
ReasoningQuerrey seems to be in pretty good form.He won two USA hard courts challengers lately. So he seems to feel confident on this kind of surface. He is playing at home and he played many more matches on hard than Tipsarevic this year.Tipsarevic comes to Indianapolis from Dublin where he played on carpet and he suffered a loss to Zverev who is just an average player. Before that he played many tournaments on grass so on faster and totally different surface than hard.He played his last matches on hard long time ago so he may have some problems to adjust to this.I see a little Querrey advantage in this match and I'm on him in this one.

ReasoningBychkova is awfull this year. She has problems to go throught to the 2nd round of any tournament. She played only one good tournament this year. This was in June when she won poor Marseille challenger.Rezai on the other side is one of the French most perspective players. She had problems with playing on grass but on clay she plays really good. She had great French Open where she made it to the 3rd round. She went through qualies here so she has a small advantage here.I see Rezai as a better player here and I'm giving her small advantage over Bychkova. With those odds I will put my money on her.

Re: ATP Amersfoort/Indianapolis/Stuttgart 17th-23rd July CAPDEVILLE v Muller 2.00 @ bluesq An early tip here because I'm pretty sure that bluesq have got this one wrong. Both Pinnacle and the early betfair market have Capdeville as slight favourite. Anyway, Capdeville beat Muller last week in straight sets on grass and as far as I'm aware he prefers playing on hardcourts. He hammered Behrend 2 and 0 in the first round so is clearly in good shape. Muller on the other hand has been awful lately going out in the first round of his last 5 tournaments. This is definitely good value in my opinion and I'll be surprised if that price lasts very long.

SelectionQUERREY v Gonzalez
Strength10/10
Date18/07/2006
Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 4.68 (Back)
ReasoningGonzalez is always worth thinking about opposing at this sort of price, especially in this sort of situation. His first match since Wimbledon and first on hard courts for a few months. Last year in this part of the season he played alright, but had a couple of first match losses too. Querrey is in some good form, winning a couple of challengers on hard, then went down to Murray in Newport and had a good win in the first round against Tipsarevic. He's playing really well and certainly has a chance in this one.

SelectionGONZALEZ 2-1 v Querrey
Strength10/10
Date18/07/2006
Bookmaker/Price>Bet365 @ 4.33 (Back)
ReasoningBit of cover on the Querrey selection. I expect him to give Gonzalez a good run but in the end it would be a huge win for him. Not totally convinced yet about the youngster in tight situations, so take this as Gonzalez has the class to sneak through in 3.
SportTennis
EventATP Indianapolis
SelectionLEE v Philippoussis
Strength10/10
Date18/07/2006
Bookmaker/PriceBlue Square @ 2.62 (Back)
ReasoningScud was awesome last week, rolling through the field at Newport without even dropping a set. However, how will he react after that? With the amount of tennis he plays these days you have to expect that to take a lot out of him. Very surprised he wants he turn up here and whilst he's here I'm willing to oppose. We need to remember he did nothing before Wimbledon and the hard courts are a lot different (and demanding on dodgy knees) to the grass. Lee is a decent performer and very comfortable on a hard court. If Philippoussis loses the rythem he had on serve then Lee has a great game to take him on in this, and definately has a shot. My main concern is Lee is 0-4 in this event but I'm willing to overlook it to oppose Philippoussis.

EventATP Indianapolis
SelectionGINEPRI v Falla
Strength10/10
Date18/07/2006
Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 1.43 (Back)
ReasoningGinepri has had a shocker of a year, however, it was pretty similar last year until he got here and then had a great summer. He's the defending champion here and I always like backing guys trying to defend there titles. I saw him a few times in the last couple of months and he was playing better but the results still weren't happening. I think this is a great opportunity for him to get going. Falla is a pretty poor player and is generally more suited to clay courts. Ginepri is a class above and I'll take him to get his season going at a decent price.
SportTennis
EventATP Indianapolis
SelectionWHITEHOUSE v Gimelstob
Strength10/10
Date18/07/2006
Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 3.10 (Back)
ReasoningThis is pretty much the perfect situation for a qualifier so I have to give it a shot. Gimelstob beat Whitehouse in 3 sets last week on the grass in Newport in a pretty close match. Since then Gimelstob made it all the way to the final whilst Whitehouse came here and tore his way through qualifying totally untroubled. So he's had loads of matches here while Gimelstob was getting over the loss in the final (probably close to biggest match of his life) and will have only got into Indy on Monday. I don't know too much about Whitehouse but he's been doing well in qualifying tournaments lately and given the situation he has to be worth a go.
SportTennis
EventATP Indianapolis
SelectionREYNOLDS v Alves
Strength10/10
Date18/07/2006
Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 1.58 (Back)
ReasoningAlves has never shown anything on the tour and I don't fancy him to begin here. Reynolds isn't playing great right now but getting back home on US hardcourts I expect him to get it together. He's a solid performer at home and I expect him to pick up a win today.
SportTennis
EventATP Indianapolis
SelectionBASTL v Healey
Strength10/10
Date18/07/2006
Bookmaker/PriceExpekt @ 1.50 (Back)
ReasoningHealey has been on a shocking eun lately going 2-8 in his last 10 and the 2 wins being in failing to qualify for Wimbledon. His last win (match win not tournament) was in a challenger in Australia at the start of Feb just after his last win on the tour in the Aussie Open. So he hasn't won a match in a main draw outside of Australia this year! Bastl is a solid performer and is generally good for a win against poor opposition. I expect him to get the job done today against Healey who must be really low on confidence.
SportTennis
EventATP Indianapolis
SelectionSTOPPINI v Carlsen
Strength10/10
Date18/07/2006
Bookmaker/Price>Bet365 @ 2.62 (Back)
ReasoningAnother qualifier at a decent price who is certainly worth a go. Stoppini reached the final of a challenger on US hardcourts a couple of weeks ago picking up some good wins (Mello, Jenkins) before losing to Querrey in the final who is in great form so no shame in that. He's also come through qualifying here seemingly getting better as that tournament progressed so he should be well prepared for this. Carlsen is on a poor run lately and if his serve isn't on then he is very ineffective, and that makes him opposable in this match.

Re: ATP Amersfoort/Indianapolis/Stuttgart 17th-23rd July Hi guys, We continue with the following picks: ATP TOUR, MERCEDES CUP, STUTTGART KOHLSCHREIBER TO D MELZER @ 1.44 on stanjames ATP TOUR, RCA CHAMPS, INDIANAPOLIS GOLDSTEIN TO D SABAU @ 1.5 on expekt WTA TOUR, W&S OPEN, CINCINNATI LEPCHENKO TO D GRANDIN @ 1.47 on pinnacle The very talented German Kohlschreiber is a favourite against Melzer for the whole bunch of reasons: he is in a very good form reaching SF of Gstaad last week and losing closely to Gasquet, he is playing at home, the H2H is 2:1 with Kohlschreiber winning both last matches, while Melzer is coming from grass court tournament in Newport, USA with time difference and surface differences. Paul Goldstein at the age of 30 is probably having his best season ever while Sabau seems to lose all of his matches lately. Goldstein is at his best on US hard courts and the H2H is 2:0 in his favour. In Lepchenko we have a very talented young player who has won many lower-level tournaments and she is 10:0 in her last ten matches, thus winning both of her last tournaments. Grandin is completely out-of-form and she even lost in final round of quallies (got into the main draw as a lucky-loser). The H2H is 1:0 to Lepchenko. www.WinningTipster.com

Re: ATP Amersfoort/Indianapolis/Stuttgart 17th-23rd July Quite a mixed bag today! The big gamble on Querrey failed completely and Almagro lost so the outrights look to be back out of form. Otherwise, hit some pretty decent winners. -3.5pts for the week which considering an outight loser isn't so bad.

SelectionRezai

Bookmaker/PriceGamebookers @ 1.80 (Back)
ReasoningKrajicek is great on hard but on clay she is just an average player. She had only one good tournament on clay this year and this was in Istanbul where she made it to SF.In other ones she was losing in 1st rounds. So clay is a big advantage for Rezai here as she prefers more this kind of surface.I don't see Krajicek as a such a big favourite here.I believe that Rezai will easilly cover this handicap and win at least one set.She has big chance to win this one and odds for her win are surely worth a try.But I will go with handi.

SelectionLEE v Malisse
Strength10/10
Date19/07/2006
Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 2.37 (Back)
ReasoningMalisse can produce anything, and in his first match here he's opposable against a decent opponent. He's having a very average year apart from a couple of final appearances (backed him E/W in one of those tournaments) quite a while ago. Lee picked up a solid win yesterday against Philippoussis and he's the type of player that needs matches, so I think that will help him in this one. H2H is 2-2 and I think Lee has a very good chance.
SportTennis
EventATP Indianapolis
SelectionCARLSEN v Hrbaty
Strength10/10
Date19/07/2006
Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 3.17 (Back)
ReasoningMmm, I don't really want to do this, but the pull of opposing Hrbaty is so great. He's having an absolutely shocking year and has proven he can lose to anyone. Carlsen has been struggling lately but he got a decent win against qualifier Stoppini yesterday and perhpas he can go on a run. H2H is 2-1 to Carlsen, Hrbaty winning the last meeting this year, but that was pretty tight. This isn't a great play, but I like the price and fancy having a go.

Re: ATP Amersfoort/Indianapolis/Stuttgart 17th-23rd July 1-1 today with Carlsen picking up a very nice win. Now +8.2pts for the week. Also, Massu moves into the quarters for the outright, however, he plays Moya which is the worst case scenario. I'm really not sure about this, Moya has looked a lot better this week than I expected. Might have to think about getting out:unsure.

SelectionFERRER v Wawrinka
Strength10/10
Date20/07/2006
Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 1.59 (Back)
ReasoningI think this is a very solid price on Ferrer. Wawrinka has had big struggles so far against Dlouhy and Phau and this is definately a step up. Ferrer looked pretty good knocking over Novak (who has started to show some game and had a 3-0 H2H) and with Almagro out of his part of the draw I think Ferrer is set for a good run. Wawrinkas needs to be hitting the ball really cleanly otherwise he'll just make too many errors. H2H is a surprising 2-1 to Wawrinka with the 2 wins this year including 1 on clay - but at the time Ferrer was struggling with a shoulder injury and I think this is a great chance for revenge.
SportTennis
EventATP Stuttgart
SelectionACASUSO v Gruel
Strength10/10
Date20/07/2006
Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 1.41 (Back)
ReasoningAcauso was having a bit of a nightmare at the end of the clay court season so he totally mssed the grass and is now looking toget back on track. Bit dodgy last week but a decent win over Seppi in the first round here I think he can get further. He's up against Gruel who has had two tough matches against pretty poor opposition (Schuettler and Youzhny both in shocking form). I think Acasuso has the shots to really hurt him and this should be pretty straightforward. Also Acasuso beat Gruel very easily in Germany on clay at Hamburg earlier this year.
SportTennis
EventATP Stuttgart
SelectionDEL POTRO v Mayer
Strength10/10
Date20/07/2006
Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 1.92 (Back)
ReasoningThe Argentines have really big hopes for del Potro and he's beginning to show why. Come through qualifying easily and has got a couple of very decent wins against Pavel and Chela. I'm backing him to keep this roll going and really show what he can do. Mayer is decent enough, but he hasn't got his game together at all this year and is always liable to put in a shocking performance.
