Sir Puntalot
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 Ok, the snooker season is back! :loon First tournament of the season but I do like the look of a few bets here. 10pt Win Double @ 2.16 Stan James Barry Hawkins to beat Tony Drago (Sat 12pm) Mark King to beat Stuart Mann (Sunday 12pm) I've been raving about Hawkins for a long time now, and he showed glimpses of what he can do last season, but I believe he will really kick on this season. He's already on form, scoring heavily in the German Open (non ranking) last week. He was beaten 3-2 by Matthew Stevens, but Drago is not in his league and should be taken care of at a canter. Mark King was the winner of the German Open, beating Matthew Stevens in the semi finals and then Michael Holt in the final. More impressively was how heavy King was scoring and he has clearly done a lot of work on the practice table. Stuart Mann is a good player, but King has held a psychological edge over him for a long time, as Mann has never fulfilled his potential and is very unlikely to do so after so long in the journeyman status. 10pts Win Mark Allen to beat David Gray @ 1.90 Centrebet (Saturday 1:30pm) I've heard a lot of negative things about Gray, and to be honest, none of them surprise me. He remains a very talented player, but his temperament just isn't good enough, and he shows his emotion too much. Allen has come along and really made a name for himself very quickly. He beat Steve Davis 4-0 in double quick time in Northern Ireland and is a fluent and very capable player. Although I believe this match is tight, I just think he has a lot more momentum and direction than Gray does, who seems a little lost. He lost to a complete nobody in the German Open, and I am more than happy to take him on. 10pts Win Tom Ford to beat Barry Pinches @ 2.10 Totesport (Sunday 12pm) I hear on the grapevine that Ford has been working really hard in practice, and it clearly showed when he turned over the asian sensation in snooker, Ding Junhui in the last round. He meets Pinches here who is a player who is inconsistent at best. Although he has had some very good results in the last season or so, he has been around a very long time, and he is just one of those players I look to oppose when I feel the right opponent comes along, at of course the right price. ;) 10pts Win Stuart Bingham v Robert Milkins @ 2.20 Totesport (Monday 6pm) I've known Bingham for years, and played him enough times to know he is class. He has had his problems but he appears to be over those last time we spoke and his form in the German Open was good. He was the 3rd highest scoring player (Mark King and Hawkins 1st and 2nd) in the tourny and beat Paul Hunter 3-0, before losing to eventual finalist Michael Holt. I've never really rated Milkins has more than a good player, but I couldn't realistically put him in the same class as Bingham, because Bingham could win far more potentially than Milkins ever could. Bingham is a tasty price here and I'm happy to be on @ 2.20.
Cease
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 Paul , what is your option about Ronnie O'Sullivan (-2.5) against Haneveer ?
Sir Puntalot
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 Haneveer is a decent player but has been around a long time. On all known form, I couldn't see him winning 3 frames against Ronnie, but you are essentially betting on what is Ronnie's state of mind. Ronnie has already said he is going to play 9 ball, so will he be giving it 100% here? I'm not so sure and I don't like backing Ronnie in general because he does "throw" a few here and there, so it's a not a bet I would personally take. ;)

Like in tennis games , when player must play qual. in some big tournament , and he losing in tournamnet , where he is currectly playing , to be at good shape before qual. on main(bigger) tournament ? I thought Grand Prix it's good tournament as for points , and for money :unsure

TheBigRC
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 I posted this on another site on Friday: " This one's for the snooker: Cope to beat Perry @ 7/4 Wilson to beat Davis @ 5/4 Two up and coming young players against two seasoned pros that are struggling. " None of those miserable b4st4rds made any use of it, so I figured I'd post it here. I know it's easy to be wise after the event (Cope) but I can assure you, my mate and I had £100 each on Cope. I still think Wilson will beat Davis. Wilson is a cracking young player. Very solid, makes few mistakes and scores heavily. The only question is how he will handle the pressure of playing on that stage. At odds against, he's a value bet for me.
TheBigRC
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 Just one more thing: Agree with Paul, Tom Ford is virtually nailed on.
Sir Puntalot
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 Not much time, because I'm away for a few days until Friday, but here's another one. 10pts Win Barry Hawkins to beat Ebdon @ 2.20 Bet365 Hawkins is the man on form and has beaten Ebdon in their last 2 meetings. I'm very happy with the 2.20 on offer and fully expect him to oblige again.
kevshat
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 Given your comments about David Gray in the previous round then I would have to suggest that 5/4 on Dave Harold to beat him tomorrow could well be a spot of value. Harold beat Matthew Stevens in the previous round. Also a double on Barry Pinches and Michael Holt should pay out I would imagine.
Paul
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 A.Hamilton - R.O'Sullivan @ 4.4 (Hamilton is worth a small punt at those odds) N.Bond - S.Davis @ 2 (once again, the odds make me favour backing Bond) J.Swail - K.Doherty @ 2.25 (Swail's 5-3 victory over A.Carter has impressed me enough to bet that he will maintain his form against Doherty) For my final bet I'm going to go with a double of 2 favourites: Higgins - McCulloch @ 1.5 Murphy - Hicks @ 1.4 Total odds of 2.1 (Gamebookers odds) Good luck:ok
Noodlehead Ned
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 looks like worldsnookers live scoring is still the mess it was last year, havent paid the 3£ but am reading the posts on betfair and it is the same old story as last year, a total mess. surely there is a market there for some to set up a proper real time snooker livescore site, I wouldnt mind playing even 10£ every tourney if it worked effeciently
TheBigRC
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 O'Brien to beat Bingham @ 2.2 (Betfair) O'Brien has always been a different class to Bingham. Although struggling recently he seems to be playing pretty well again. A good win against Williams yesterday will have helped.
joe mavis
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 Anyone know how well John Higgins is playing? Sir Puntalot
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 10pts Win Mark King to beat Hendry 3.85 @ Betfair Mark King seems a big price to me considering his current form. Hendry is most definitely priced on reputation here, a reputation that no longer has the same consistency. King won the German Open last week and scored very heavily doing it. He also scored heavy in his last match winning 5-1, so there is no justification in this price and I will gladly take it.
Sir Puntalot
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 Big RC, Just seen your comment about Bingham being different class to Fergal - not sure if you have seen them both play enough, but they are very much on a par ability wise, so be careful not to listen to too much about Bingham, as he is a superb player and should start to show this now his personal problems are not as great as they were. :ok
Paul
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 A.Hamilton - R.O'Sullivan @ 4.4 :( (Hamilton is worth a small punt at those odds) N.Bond - S.Davis @ 2 :( (once again, the odds make me favour backing Bond) J.Swail - K.Doherty @ 2.25 :D (Swail's 5-3 victory over A.Carter has impressed me enough to bet that he will maintain his form against Doherty) For my final bet I'm going to go with a double of 2 favourites: Higgins - McCulloch @ 1.5:D Murphy - Hicks @ 1.4:D Total odds of 2.1 (Gamebookers odds) Good luck:ok Luckily Swail's comeback against Doherty left me with a moderate profit overall. The only thing tempting me next is Pinches @ 2.10 to beat White. Does anyone know how these 2 are playing? Maybe I'm underestimating Jimmy?
kevshat
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 Judging by how poorly Pinches played against McLeod last night I couldn't be backing him at such short odds. I might be tempted to have a small bet on Swail to beat O'Sullivan, Swail played well in patches against Doherty last night and beat O'Sullivan in the NI trophy recently. I think he's worth a small stake bet. Also tomorrow afternoon I shall be doing a Michael Holt and Barry Hawkins double.
DieGo_M
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 ok guys my first post here:] i hope to build up a discussion about preston tournament. After losing some money yesterday (mostly by betting against favourites) im gonna earn some in this round. Well pairs are not so equal as in prev round i think. More to say i think im gonna bet on favourites in this round in doubles but im not sure about O'Sullivan especially after losing Swail in Belfast. Probably he is not gonna lose again but is it wotrh playing for 1.2 in some double? I have doubts :/ Im not sure about Holt too. His form is quite impressive but i dont know much about Norman. All in all im gonna bet on Hawkins,Hendry,Murphy,White and Higgins. Any thoughts? Comments? What do you think about Gray?

Sir Puntalot
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 10pts Win Gerrard Greene to beat Hendry @ 4.90 Betfair Massive price on Greene here who is also in good form and seems to have got his game in good order right at the start of the season. The betfair layers are offering a ridiculous price and I'm very happy to be on @ 4.90.

Noodlehead Ned
Re: Snooker - WSA Grand Prix - starts Sat 8/10 Ronnie is 1.14 to lay at BF,it is still just best of 9 so surely this is too low, I'd much rather be laying ronnie at this price than backing him, also im going for Bingham @ 3.8 at BF, when it is best of 9 it think it has to be wiser to oppose the big faves.
