Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > European Zone( 3 September 2005) At first glance, Belarus's price of 11/10 with Skybet looks quite good. They're away in Moldova who are nothing special and have been struggling. Belarus have been scoring goals for fun and are a much better team than most people rate them. Bet365 go 10/11 which is more realistic. I remember a while back Marek tipped up Belarus to beat or get something from Poland and they duly obliged winning 3-1. Any thoughts on this game Marek?? Will obviously await team news but that may well be the one for me. Cheers, Col.

Well mate, Moldova usually play fairly good home, remember the 1-1 draw with our lot:wall , then a narrow loss to Italy and a goaless draw against Norway. Therefore a draw or even a win for Moldova are quite possible. They are still to win and will be very eager to do this this time around. What I see is very good odds on Scotland, worth a tenner. :tongue2 Slainte :cheers

Serbia & Montenegro v Lithuania SERBIA & MONTENEGRO (4-4-2/3-5-2) Goalkeeper Dragoslav Jevric(Ankaraspor) Defenders Goran Gavrancic(Dynamo Kiev) Nemanja Vidic(Spartak Moscow) Mladen Krstajic(Schalke 04) Ivica Dragutinovic(Standard Liege) Midfielders Ognjen Koroman(KS Samara) Igor Duljaj(Shakhtar Donetsk) Predrag Djordjevic(Olympiakos) Dejan Stankovic(Inter Milan) Forwards Savo Milosevic(Osasuna)/Nikola Zigic(Red Star) Mateja Kezman(Atletico Madrid)/Danijel Ljuboja(VfB Stuttgart) At the moment, it's really hard to say who's gonna start up front, but these guys are very likely to take a part in the starting lineup(90% IMO). The game of a huge importance for us without a doubt(especially after two consecutive goalless draws: vs.Spain and Belgium) as we've got the trip to Madrid next week and probably match ball against Spain.Of course, if we beat Lithuania on Saturday night, and I can see no reasons why we shouldn't be able to do that.I do believe though that the price on Lithuania is a bit too high(10.00 at some places), mainly becuse of their results in this group, but I'll give my support to Serbia & Montenegro(1.40 at Unibet) this time as I feel we're able to make this crucial step to World Cup 2006.We're always a tough nut to crack in Belgrade and I'm not sure whether Lithuania will be able to cope with the atmosphere at Maracana or not.IMO, 1:0 or 2:0 for Serbia & Montenegro!

Well, our four back(Krstajic, Vidic, Gavrancic, Dragutinovic) have been outstanding so far as well as definsive midfielder Igor Duljaj, so that price looks Ok indeed, but I wouldn't risk more than 5/10 here!We can not think about a clean sheet anymore. This is a must-win game for S&M and we'll certainly play atacking football from start to finish.

Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > European Zone( 3 September 2005) Btw, Lithuania will miss 5 regular players(through suspension mostly): Zvirgzdauskas, Stankevicius, Barasa, Danilevicius, Poskus! S&M are at full strength.I don't know how we could fail to win this one, but sh*t happens... :)

Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > European Zone( 3 September 2005) my post from yesterday must have been wiped :( intially the Czechs @ 2.4ish look good for the betting against Romania their team is very solid and in Cech at the back they have an oustanding goalie the whole team always seem to play well together on the international stage Baros is one in particular who sems to thrive playing for his country as a whole though they play brilliantly as a unit they have class in midfield, up front and in defense

Czech Republic870128721
rou.gif Romania10613171019
^ thats the group stats thus far its clear the Czechs are better on paper back in march the Czechs beat romania 2-0 this is a crucial game in many respects for Romania 2 games behind and a point behind they'd need to win to stand any hope at all of qualifying however the Czechs will be thinking, we win this game we go 4 clear of romania with 2 games in hand Romania have Pancu and Ganea out, not sure how much of a blow that is, but i've heard of both players, so i can imagine its weakened the side Czech Rep. have no big name players absent heres the teamsheet; Goalkeepers: Jaromir Blazek (Sparta Prague), Petr Cech (Chelsea), Antonin Kinsky (Saturn Ramenskoye) Defenders: Rene Bolf (AJ Auxerre), Zdenek Grygera (Ajax Amsterdam), Tomas Huebschman (Shakhtar Donetsk), Marek Jankulovski (AC Milan), Zdenek Pospech (Sparta Prague), David Rozehnal (Paris St Germain), Tomas Ujfalusi (Fiorentina) Midfielders: Tomas Galasek (Ajax Amsterdam), Karel Poborsky (Sparta Prague), Jan Polak (Nuremberg), Tomas Rosicky (Borussia Dortmund), Rudolf Skacel (Hearts), Vladimir Smicer (Girondins Bordeaux) Forwards: Milan Baros (Aston Villa), Marek Heinz (Borussia Moenchengladbach), Tomas Jun (Trabzonspor), Jan Koller (Borussia Dortmund). Czechs @ 2.37 on Coral is the best bet i'd be tempted with a HT/FT as well or -1 handicap i can see the Czechs winning by a couple goals

Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > European Zone( 3 September 2005) FYI - Marek Heinz is not considered a forward but an attacking midfielder - it's almost sure the Baros - Koller duo will start up front with Jun staying on bench anyway. Agree 2.4ish looks quite OK, but I don't subscribe to your train of thoughts - it's rather if the Czechs want to chase the 1st place and compete with the Netherlands, they'll go out all guns blazing, if not, they can as well settle for a draw BUT there is one important thing and it's the number of points which will be a decisive factor in the promotion battle. So agree they should win. Psychically though, it's correct no big name of THIS squad is missing, but last week the greatest and most influential player of today - Pavel Nedved - announced that due to his health problem he has to call it a day in playing for the country. Until last week, it looked like a 50/50 whether he rejoins the squad or not. This shouldn't affect the players too much, but...

Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > European Zone( 3 September 2005) ^tbh i cant see Nedved not rejoining the squad affecting them he hasn't played with them for awhile and although he is a brilliant player Czech Rep. have players who can cover adequately, in fact i think it'll make the fringe players tryin to break into the squad hungrier to get a place and i don't think the Czechs will settle for a draw unless somehow they find themselves drawing in the latter stages of the game in which case the ball is in their court generally the Czechs aren't a sit back and defend team from what i've seen

thats true, but the final decision was made only last week. its not about how well the players can cover for him, rather A PSYCHOLOGICAL ISSUE following his statement as many had had some hopes. Generally I agree with the pick, just gave some issues which MAY affect the squad.

Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > European Zone( 3 September 2005) fgee .. let's tell you something about Romanian squad .. Pancu is not out .. he was not called by National Coach Piturca to play in this game, and Ganea is old,he isn't total recovered from a old injury ... This are the 22 players Goalkeepers: Lobont(Ajax Amsterdam); G.Curca(Faru Constanta); Defenders: Cosmin Contra(Getafe);Badoi(Rapid Bucuresti);Iencsi(Spartak Moscova);Tamas(Dinamo Bucuresti);Cristi Chivu(AS Roma);Ghioane(Steaua Bucuresti);Rat(Shaktar);Pascovici(Faru Constanta); Midfielders:Fl.Petre(Dinamo Bucuresti);T.Balan(Sportu Studentesc);Cocis(Serif Tiraspol);Codrea(Palermo);D.Munteanu(Cfr. Cluj);Ov. Petre(Poli Timisoara);G.Coman(Poli TImisoara);N.Dica(Steaua Bucuresti); Forwards:Adrian Mutu(Juventus);Mazilu(Sportu Studentesc);G.Bucur(Poli Timisoara);Oprita(Steaua Bucuresti) Maybe the first eleven will be : Lobont ; Contra - Chivu - Tamas(Ghioane) - Rat ; Fl.Petre - Dorinel Munteanu - Ov.Petre(Codrea) - N.Dica(G.Coman) ; Mutu - Dinita(Oprita); Maybe this aren't big names, sure you even don't hnew only 2 players .. Chivu and Mutu .. but i can tell you that the others are great players .. We don't have anything to lose... Young Mutu, with overnight parties, many girls and even cocaina is the past .. the new mutu, have a girlfriend,he score against Barcelona a penalty and many other things are in my mind, who give me the confidence that Romania have now a new lider after Hagi ... Cosmin Contra .. maybe last season was loaned by Athletico Madrid to Poli Timisoara, and now play's @ Getafe , but remember he was on the Team Of Europe in 2001,and from Alaves was transfered to Milan ... Dorinel Munteanu, old player .. will be the most capped player in Romania History ... he was one of the hey players of CFR Cluj on theyer road to Uefa Intertoto final ... nothing more to say Cristi Chivu,Ajax is still crying for him, were there theyer best defender ... now he is playing in Italy at AS Roma, where if he is not injury he is on the first eleven almost sure ... The rest of romanian team,is dreaming to become... in the future a player like Baros,Galasek or Koller and to play on a team like Chelsea(Petr Cech) .. but this make them stronger .. they whant to afirm in front of these players .. Czechs engine was Nedved .. with him on the field .. you sure beat romania .. but he is retired from International football ... Romania don't have anything to lose ... they will play what they hnew .. in front with Mutu .. For me 1x is a banker ....

Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > European Zone( 3 September 2005) First of all welcome to PL, Razvi:) Anyway, I have to oppose a little bit--

he score against Barcelona a penalty
How a scored penalty should show anything is a bit beyond me, I remember him well from club footy and has never been above average. Moreover, a forward likie him is very unlikely to become a leader, you should look into the midfield instead - and TBH I can't see the quality to match the probable Galasek - Poborsky - Rosicky (Skacel or Heinz as Rosicky has been injured) - Smicer (now back to his favourite France after leaving Liverpool) line. We'll see;)

Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > European Zone( 3 September 2005) i hear you Tulenos i knew what u meant in the first post, i didnt explain in my post very well yes his decision may affect them, but i think if anything it'll fire them up a bit and Razvi, interesting post you seem a bit biased on your view though i'm not saying Romania is a bad team by any means, i just think on the day the Czechs will have too much for them the Czechs beat you 2-0 in Bucharest last time round, and i think it'll be a similar story this time round seeing as the Czechs haven't weakened and Romania haven't strengthened anyway i've placed my bet :) trying to get on the good odds while they last

Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > European Zone( 3 September 2005) very interested in the Serb / Mont team news - won very heavy betting Sweden and Czech Rep a couple of months ago -3 goals against malta and Andorra resp, though its getting to the stage of the competition when results not performances are vital - Serbia, England, N.Ireland and Croatia where my 1st glance teams dependant on info - Croatia are heading a very tight chasing packand cant see them slipping against Iceland, there will be more England players than welsh at home in the millenium stadium due to the last few years major domestic finals being played there and to me Azerbajan are one of a few last ( non-competitive matches ) - if I get time more info to follow but on paper these look to me like winners as opposed to " good even money chances " Czech rep, belarus etc... i.e where the money is won ! :notworthy

Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > ( 3 September 2005) Does anybody fancy England + Italy double. Short odds but high stake to make it pay. I fancy England to turn it around after the poor show V Denmark, England will play 4-5-1 , keep it tight and nick a goal or 2, as for Italy well their Italy , solid defence ,decent going forward and end of the day weak opposition. Nothing else of interest although Denmark V Turkey . Denmark look a big price 9/5 worth a few notes.

Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > ( 3 September 2005) I have been thinking of an England and Holland Double @ around 1.55. Bellamy is also out of the squad, and they have brought in a few youngsters as cover for their injuries. England are without Owen, and J Terry..THe main concern here is the experimentation in a WCQ match, using a different formation to what we usually use, instead of doing it in a Friendly match to see how it works out.. It could work well but it could also backfire but im going to take the risk and lump it on England. With a formation like this, the Under may be worth a shot... I will be going with the Italians against the JOcks. THe Italians should win this without conceeding a goal.THey dont seem to win big even against poor opposition so maybe the under may be worth a whirl or Italy to win to Nil..!!

Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > ( 3 September 2005) Well, I will be having a very big bet on England, probably my biggest ever bet. The Wales squad of a few years ago would have been beaten by this England side, but this Wales side is going to get played off the park completely. Forget the Denmark result, England are notoriously bad in friendlies, losing to teams such as USA, Japan, Chile etc.. in previous years, while their competitive record shows defeats to good teams only. England to win this 2-0 at a canter for me, the Wales team is very poor and totally outclassed.

Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > ( 3 September 2005) Definatly fancy England. They took some flak after the Denmark game so they'll be looking to put that right. If they don't the press will massacre them. Might put them in a double with Italy. Italians should be too strong although the Scots will make them battle all the way.

Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > ( 3 September 2005) Sweden v Bulgaria On paper this looks like a solid home win to me. Sweden went to Bulgaria in March and won 3-0 and they will want another win to keep the pressure up on Croatia for first place in the group.

Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > ( 3 September 2005) haven't got much time checking the team news but: - Belarus's victory away to Poland (@7!) was a friendly game. away favourites around evens in a qualifier? pass - Poland @1.66 vs Austria. too short. we perform better as underdogs (vide a very narrow victory vs N.Ireland at home in last minutes , 1-0 ), besides we play atr National Stadium that players themselves dont like + some of them have been busy signing up new contracts at new clubs. pass there's been some ugly war of words between Austrin players and Polish ones playing in Austrian Bundesliga. might be ugly game. I'd say try buying bookings - semi-long shot? Denmark away to Turkey. I'm not taking into account the recent victory vs England. I rate Danes much higher and they should sneak it. won't lose for sure. - the bet I really like is over 2.5 in Sweden vs Bulgaria cannot quote the exact recent results to back me up on this but if you check them you'll see that these teams can easily produce 3 or more goals in a game. - England away to Wales? Poland beat them 3-2 in Cardiff. say no more. No Bellamy. Earshaw up front? he hardly gets a game at WBA. 1.44 at Betfair. try highstreet bookies, i.e. 1.5 @ Betfred's coupon. and before all of you start going big on any team - bet what you can afford to lose

Re: World Cup > Qualifying Matches > ( 3 September 2005) I'd be wary of betting on England after last month's debacle in Denmark. The knives are out for Sven now, and the pressure really is on - e.g. why the hell is he tinkering with the system for a world cup qualifier for fcuks sake. Look at the table we're 2 pts behind Poland with a game in hand. They've got 2 home wins coming up in the next few days against Austria (sorry Marek but you guys are bankers at 1.66 vs Austria) and Wales. We can't afford to drop a single point in our next three to stay in the driving seat in the group. i wouldn't want to be going into that last game at Old Trafford needing to win to qualify for the World Cup. Look at the Greece game - couldn't finish them off and had to rely on Finland to draw in Germany! Wales at 13's on Betfair. Not touching that, but Giggs vs Luke Young - wtf:( No Terry, Campbell, Owen, Defoe (likely on bench), Gerrard clearly carrying an injury and Beckham holding midfielder:loon England should win, but I'm backing the draw at 4.3

Best bet is bookings over 45pts with hills imo at 5/6.I can see a bit of needle in this one and if john hartson plays he will no doubt smash someone with an elbow,as usual. 10 pts bookings over 45 @5/6 with hills.
