Sir Puntalot
Re: Snooker : Northern Ireland Trophy Well, at first glance Davis looks an absolute steal against the inexperienced Allen, but I'll try to get some more info first. ;)

Davis at the age he is... is no mug ! He can mentally destroy even though he may not have the potting domination ! His aim is to remain in the top 16 until he reached the age of 50... so he will be trying ! Hopefully he has been practicing too ! I heard Davis speak during the 9 pool tornament, and he said that he was going to have a good go this year ! Hopefully this means that he will spend more hours on the green baize. Good Call ! one for me too ! Bunglesix
thegaffer1
Re: Snooker : Northern Ireland Trophy Was just speaking to Steve earlier on ladbrokes poker site, says he's really looking forward to playing in Belfast and says his 1st match against local lad allen should b a tough opener. Says there will b alot of pressure on young allen( who is the world amateur and european champion ) This is also allens 1st game as a pro at the top level so should b quite an opener for him. Going to have wee bet on steve and Junhui double. BTW , steve was playing a $30 pot limit omaha torny with 102 in it, of course went on to win it $945 richer, like he needs it. Legend. Can't find many stats on Mark apart from these hope these help. http://www.worldsnooker.com/players_search-8231.htm Mark Allen (N.Ireland) has also made five consecutive century breaks, at the Larne Masters, in the Fountain Club in Larne, Northern Ireland, 23 January 2005. Allen finished off his second round match against Stephen Smith with a 117, before rattling in breaks of 134, 120 and 104 to beat Declan Hughes 3-0. He then began his quarter-final match against Robert McCullough with a 116. Just for good measure, Mark had begun his match against Smith with a 111 break, making it a phenomenal six centuries in seven frames. Sir Puntalot
Re: Snooker : Northern Ireland Trophy Cheers Gaffer, nice write up. :ok Here's Allen's record to date http://www.globalsnookercentre.co.uk/files/Players/Global_Europe/Global_Ireland/ni_allen_mark.htm Personally, winning the world amateur and european amateur aint what it used to be, and I think this kid has a mammoth task to beat Davis, who will literally tie him up in knots he has never seen before. ;) 1.66 is a great price. :ok

paulphi
Re: Snooker : Northern Ireland Trophy I think season could show a change in the top 8 or so. Ronnie O'Sullivan is the most talented player out there but whether mentally he wants it remains to be seen. It may be worth either watching or putting a few pounds each way on Ding Junhui. He is maturing well and hasn't had too much hype. He's aproven winner , winning at The China Open last season and is hungry for success. I saw him for 16/1 with Stan james but there are longer odds out there. He does have a tough draw , so if you're in doubt I would take 8/11 to beat Ali Carter in the first round.:hope
Sir Puntalot
Re: Snooker : Northern Ireland Trophy Well Davis was well and truly beaten 4-0. :eek Fair play to Allen, he played very well, but the chances Davis had could have turned things around at an important time, but he was well off the boil. :(

Sir Puntalot
Re: Snooker : Northern Ireland Trophy On the basis of his performance against Davis, Allen would appear value against what is a very much inconsistent John Higgins these days. Robertson was the one I was most interested in, but I was looking for around 1.90 to be honest. :( Could do with seeing the other players that have yet to play first, as it's almost like betting with a blindfold. :o
Sir Puntalot
Re: Snooker : Northern Ireland Trophy Forgot to add, although I do like Robertson to win his match, Jimmy is sure to have a lot of support being so friendly with Alex Higgins, so take that into account too. ;)
thegaffer1
Re: Snooker : Northern Ireland Trophy Thnx for the info Paul :clap . Davis was'nt such a smart bet after all, should of listened to him when he said he had 2 tickets for the poker million on Friday nite.....lol. Allen now looks a good price , but as u say about non players yet think i'll leave it to the next round. And wtf is going on with the best of 7, why bother having that???? Sir Puntalot
Re: Snooker : Northern Ireland Trophy Well Robertson won, but I didn't back him as I thought his price was a bit short, need to see the other players who have yet to play before getting involved again. ;)
bunglesix
Re: Snooker : Northern Ireland Trophy I actually went with Paul Ross tip. I have read before his snooker and he seem's to know what he is talking about. No... you have misunderstood me ! I think Paul Ross was on the money with his prediction... and i backed Davis aswell. I was saying... it seems that davis had a lucky run in the worlds earlier this year... and you still need to get over the finishing line even though he did have allot of luck at vital times of his matches. His run in the worlds guarenteed him a top 16 finish. But against Allen in the Irish... he should have won, or put up more of a fight! Its Allen's, first professional match even though i know he has been playing well and scoring heavily, he was nervous... but Davies struggled to clear up, time after time. Also, you can say it was only a first to four match... but still, he never won a frame. Davis... is my all time favourite player of all time... ask me stats i will prove it. But from seeing how he played the other night, it just discouraged me from betting with him... you know that he is not going to win a trophy, so you might aswell lay him instead. Finally Paul Ross is a good pundit, and speak allot of sense ! Sorry for any confusion, Bunglesix :ok

LockStockLad
Re: Snooker : Northern Ireland Trophy Im going to start with a bank of 100 points and see how much I can accumulate over the snooker season, starting from today... I will jump on the bandwagon with Robertson, think he is overpriced at 6/5 to beat Murphy this afternoon, personally I would of priced it at 5/6 the pair of them. Its the best of 9 today and although I believe Murphy will prove harder to beat this season it really is a toss up.... I will be looking to oppose MaGuire throughout the season, especailly when he is priced up at odds on against the more experienced players on tour, Matthew Stevens is never normally at his best at the begin of a season but again, in a race to nine I dont see why he is also 6/5 to come out on top, 10 point singles : Robertson @ 2.2 Stevens @ 2.2 5 point double @ 4.84 Starting Bank 100 points, New bank 75 points.... Mullahoran
Re: Snooker : Northern Ireland Trophy Well you might as well get the best odds and those are at Betfair both your players are over 6/4 there. Your throwing money away by not taking the best price.
LockStockLad
Re: Snooker : Northern Ireland Trophy Thanks for pointing that out. I actually just put the bet down at Hills, 5/4 the pair and roughly 4/1 the double... I only use Betfair if im going to stake large, its convenient for me to put everything on at hills who I find offer good odds on the snooker anyway with the obvious advantage of taking doubles as well. Still, 6/4 for either of those players is way too high in my opinion, Cheers
