Atromitos vs Larissa

The Greek Super League is in its split stage phase and our focus this week is on the Relegation Round where Atromitos face Larissa in a 6pm BST kick-off on Monday evening at the Peristeri Stadium. Neither side is realistically in danger of being relegated but they'll want to try and end this season in a good run of form so both will be eager to win this game.

Atromitos are currently placed in 2nd position in the Relegation Round. Head coach Savvas Pantelidis has led his team to within 2 points of the leading side Asteras Tripolis. The club is also 12 points clear of the drop zone. It's certain they won't get dragged into the relegation battle but stringing some decent form ahead of next season will be a top priority. It's generally been a disappointing campaign after the club's 4th placed finish last season and 3 league games without a win makes it a worrying time for their fans. The ray of hope is that they are unbeaten in their last 2 league games at home.

Larissa find themselves just behind their opponents for this game in the league table. Michalis Grigoriou has done a decent job as head coach with the team's aim this season being to simply consolidate their place in the top flight of Greek football. The team is in 3rd place in the Relegation Round and just 1 point behind Atromitos. A single point is needed to seal their survival but a win is the ideal scenario. Last week's 3-1 win over Volos NFC put a swift end to the spell of back-to-back defeats. The players will be keen to add another win to their record.

It's a quiet end to the season for these two teams who both look to have done enough to survive. Atromitos are going through a rough spell of form right now and they face a Larissa side that will be buoyed by that victory last week. I still feel the home side probably have the edge. The visitors haven't won away from home in 10 matches and haven't even managed to score in their last 5 road trips. A narrow home win seems appropriate.
