They are on a good run of form as they are currently unbeaten in last 7 games. They got into the group stage by with a resounding 6-0 win over Philippines side Global and big spending Shanghai Shenhua 2-0 away. Muang Thong United just started their season. They got off to a good start by defeating Bangkok Glass and Sukhothai. Since then, they have announced last season top striker and 1 of the league best ever player Cleiton Silva has been sold to chinese club Shanghai Shenxin. The transfer fee is rumoured to be a thai record US2.8 million. Midfield dynamo Sarach Yooyen also got injured against Sukhothai and will be out for 5-6 months. Cleiton Silva and Sarach Yooyen will be huge loss for Muang Thong. They also just begin their season so it's unlikely they are totally match fit. Brisbane Roar should really be looking to take all 3 points if they want to do well in the ACL considering the reasons I stated above. Muang Thong is also the weakest team in this group with Ulsan(Korea Rep) and Kashima Antlers(Japan). The -1 odds is available at marathonbet now and 1x2 @ 1.62 is available at bet365. vasilli07 Posted February 22, 2017 Author Share Posted February 22, 2017 My observations after round one. Beside Roar, Adelaide and WSW are likely to struggle badly. Adelaide is still as rubbish as their A-league campaign and WSW depth is not strong enough. Roar fielded quite a number of reserves and could have lost to Muang Thong. As Roar and WSW are in the hunt for the playoffs, they are very likely to make wholesale changes to their starting XI. Will probably need to see the travelling squad list(away games) or starting XI before deciding on the plays. Chinese teams are always pretty serious in the ACL. As they lack quality domestic players, their foreign players will surely play every game unless they are suspended or injured. The Japanese also likes to rotate their squad as well once their domestic campaign starts. They will normally use a weaker XI for away games. Without Jeonbuk, this year Korean clubs quality are not as high. Suwon probably has the best chance of making out of the group stage as they are only competing with Kawasaki Frontale.
