Gibraltar -v- Ireland Gibraltar host the Republic of Ireland tonight in Faro, Portugal for another Group D qualifier. Undoubtedly Gibraltar are the whipping boys of Group D and their manager and players will be doing everything they can to live that reputation down. However, the reality is Ireland are going to win this game and they should be able to score a number of goals. Ireland have already beaten Gibraltar 7-0 in Dublin, one of three 7-0 defeats Gibraltar have suffered in this campaign. The two other heavy defeats came in the same stadium that Gibraltar host Ireland in tonight, both against Poland and Germany. Can Ireland repeat a 7-0 victory? It's possible but I would say less likely than the home victory. I'm not willing to back the Asian Handicap for this game or the goals line. I think there's only one bet worth making for a game where one team will be attacking and the other team will be defending. Robbie Keane will start up front for Ireland tonight as captain and this is likely to be one of his last games for his nation too. He has scored 65 international goals for his country, and that record will never be broken by any other Irishman. He is in great form recently, having scored 15 goals in 18 MLS games. In his last six games for LA Galaxy, he's scored 8 goals. He's at his sharpest and best right now. Keane already scored a hattrick in this fixture in Dublin last year, in October. While Keane is nearing the end of his football season, the rest of the players are all beginning theirs. He therefore is a lot more match sharp than the rest of his team mates and opponents. He is Ireland's most natural goal scorer and he will lead the line for Ireland tonight. A Gibraltar team will offer him the perfect opportunity to add to his 65 international goals, and as a 35 year old, he still has what it takes to produce against the lesser international teams, so this fixture is absolutely perfect and ideal for Robbie Keane. Therefore I'm backing Robbie Keane as the first goal scorer in tonight's game. At 3.50 odds I believe there is very good value. Ireland will score first unless there is some freak incident whereby Gibraltar fluke a goal. Robbie Keane definitely has the best chance to be the first person to score for Ireland, and since I believe as captain he'll definitely start this game, it's a very good value bet. Good luck! My tip: Robbie Keane first goal scorer @ 5/2 with bet365 (1/10 units)
