Re: AP McCoy Grand Annual Steeple Chase > Friday March 13th @ 5:15pm Cheltenham 5:15 - A.p. Mccoy Grand Annual Handicap Chase(Grade 3) (1) 2m 110yds We could be witness to an anstronomical gamble on Ned Buntline tomorrow, but it is EASTLAKE that interests me at the available 12/1 with Paddy Power as an each-way bet. JP McManus owns both Ned Buntline and my selection and it is interesting that the market is speaking in Eastlake's favour at long odds. Paul Carberry has to go down as a top jockey booking and this horse ran a good race in January at Ascot when 3rd behind Rebel Rebellion off the same mark as tomorrow, 145. The drop back in trip should suit and he is now 3 pounds lower than when 6th in this race last year behind the Tony Martin trained Savello. He is a course and distance winner, and as we know, course form can be a huge asset when looking for a bet at such a specialist course, and I like his chances in an open race. >>>>> Eastlake - 1 Point each-way @ 12/1 Paddy Power https://www.punterslounge.com/cheltenham-festival/

Re: AP McCoy Grand Annual Steeple Chase > Friday March 13th @ 5:15pm last race on the card so may as well go out with a bang and max the bets .........all the money no doubt will be on the McCoy horse but stats are against that horse winning not least because speed ratings are showing the following blood cotil 98.79 Dresden 98.76 Eastlake 98.31 blood cotil represents willy mullins so says it all ...looks a plot horse and at 10/1 fantastic value to finish his chelt off with a boom ..... but he wont have it his own way Dresden is poised off a low racing weight here so fully capable of putting in a quick time again and priced at 25/1 looks fantastic value against this fav ...... blood cotil 10pts win 10/1 will hill Dresden 10 pts win 25/1 will hill cmon the lads !!!

Re: AP McCoy Grand Annual Steeple Chase > Friday March 13th @ 5:15pm 5.15 Cheltenham: A.P.McCoy Grand Annual Chase Challenge Cup (2m110y) The final race of the Festival and a nice gesture from Cheltenham to change the name of the race for one year in honour of A.P.McCoy who will be retiring at the end of this season and therefore this will be his last ever mount at Cheltenham. We wish him all the best and what a fairy tale ending it would be if he could manage to pull this off. He couldn’t could he? For the purists we have had three surprise winners in the last four years, McCoy won it on Alderwood on the other occasion. Only one horse has carried more than 11st to victory since the turn of the century and that was last year when Savello carried 11st5lbs. Six of the best: Ned Buntline – Was second in this race last year to Savello when ridden by Paul Carberry. He now attempts to go one better in the hands of AP McCoy for whom the race is named after. It will the ‘Champs’ last ever ride at the Festival and what a way to end if he could win riding a horse for his boss JP McManus. The horse has ran twice this season and last time in a hurdle race at Leopardstown, neither race would give you any confidence here but obviously the horse has been laid out for this and has to be respected although I cant see much value in the price. Eastlake – This was the other option for AP, owned by JP and trained by Jonjo O’Neill. He last won here back in 2013 and was a decent 6th in this race twelve months ago. Been running on bad ground since and these conditions will much more up his alley and shouldn’t be too far away. Hopefully he wont be the horse to deny AP a famous victory. I doubt it somehow. Blood Cotil – Willie Mullins trains this one for his first run in a handicap chase. Had his sights on something like the Arkle at the beginning of the campaign but has disappointed more than once. Has ability on his day and handicaps could be the way forward and his mark of 141 is not excessive. Next Sensation – 4th here twelve months ago when fancied and runs off a pound higher despite a disappointing season so far. He was outclassed at Aintree in the Maghull Chase and has been well beaten three times since in handicaps so on the face of it is up against it here. Claret Cloak – Top weight and runs off a career high mark of 153 here. It will be a tremendous effort if he could carry 11st 12lbs to victory, its over 30 years since a horse carried this sort of weight to win the Grand Annual. Ran a cracker last time to finish second to Ulck Du Lin at Ascot but you have to go back to 2013 to find the last time he got his head in front and that was in a novice chase. Solar Impulse – Paul Nicholls trained and Graham Wylie owned, this novice showed much promise at the start of the season but has come up against some decent types. Was second to Monetaire, Josses Hill and Three Kingdoms this season in novice chases and as a result is probably not badly treated. Makes the odd bad error so will have to sort that out around here. Verdict: This race is all about McCoy and lest hope he can win it for his thousands of adoring fans, it would bring the house down for sure. I can’t fancy the horse on form so from a betting point of view I’ll side with the novice Solar Impulse and trainer Paul Nicholls. 1pt EW Solar Impulse 25/1 BetVictor

Re: AP McCoy Grand Annual Steeple Chase > Friday March 13th @ 5:15pm 5.15 Cheltenham - 2pts win Blood Cotil @ 8/1 (Bet365) Has to prove he can cope with the hustle and bustle of a field like this over fences given he's lightly raced but won with plenty in hand last time out to gain a bit of confidence and has form tied in with some really smart types. His chasing form with Gilgamboa, Wounded Warrior and Sizing Granite reads well with regards to this and his handicap mark appears fair based on that. Hopefully his jumping will stand up in a test like this and if so, representing top connections, can hopefully sign us off with a win.
