Maritimo V Estoril Over 2.5 goals @ 2.05 - bet365. I see value here in the overs as Estoril rarely keep a clean sheet, and Maritimo have conceded at least once in their first three home fixtures this season. They conceded four last time out at home to Ferriera and Estoril have scored at least twice in their first three away games this season.

Re: Portugal > Liga ZON Sagres > 2013/14 Sporting take on Porto for first place in the table tonight at the Dragao. Porto have a great home record but things haven't been plain sailing as the table suggests for them this season. They've needed late goals and penalties to win a few games this season whilst Sporting have been terrific dismantling most of the sides they have faced so far. They've also already faced the other big side Benfica and deserved to win the game. Led by possible signing of the season Fredy Montero there's always goals in this Sporting side and they'll prove very tough to beat tonight. Porto may sneak a win so I'm going to look on the Asian Lines but this is going to be a very close game and there's every chance Sporting can grab a great result in this form. I'm going to take the +0.75 AH on Sporting at 1.95 on Bet365 as my main bet with some smaller stakes on the goalscorers market. Montero has scored 12 goals in 8 competitive games for Sporting including one against Benfica and only missed the goal in one of those. The price of 3.5 for Montero to score anytime on Bet365 is great for some smaller stakes. Sporting will come here full of confidence and I'll back them to score which will likely come through in form Montero.

1-3 with 15 or so minutes left. Bet won :ok

Re: Portugal > Liga ZON Sagres > 2013/14 Bet lost. Below par performance from Sporting. Martins and Adrien were poor and left William exposed continuously who had a brilliant game despite being isolated most of the time. Sporting were too slow and static up front but they could have scored another when Helton pulled of a fantastic save from Montero. Porto played well though and exposed Sporting especially down the left flank through Varela and deserved the victory. Porto's best performance so far this season from what I've seen.

Re: Portugal > Liga ZON Sagres > 2013/14 Here's one that is just crazy. Estoril v Guimaraes You can get 4 to 10 on over 1.5 goals in this match. To me it is an insane price considering that Estoril have gone over 1.5 goals in 23 of their last 25 games at home 6 units for me here at 4/10 bet365

Re: Portugal > Liga ZON Sagres > 2013/14 Some insight for today´s match Academica - Maritimo. Both teams improving lately. Both draw in points with 14. However Academica fights to avoid relegation, Maritimo fights for Europe. Facts: - Academica beat Braga already this season and Porto two weeks ago. - They like to keep things tight at the back, results are usually 1-0, 0-1, 1-1, always low scoring matches. - After beating Porto, they lost with Setubal away one week ago by 1-0. They clearly played to get a single point. After suffering they were all over the attack. - They miss quality in the attack. - At home they are usually a pain in the ass. - Maritimo scores a lot...20 goals so far, 4th best attack. - Maritimo conceeds a lot...24 goals so far..worst defense. - Maritimo has a lot of power upfront. Great stikers every single year. - Maritimo plays an offensive style. - Both coaches have a conflict with each other after a match in pre-season. H2H clearly favours Maritimo, last 10 matches they won 6, they won the last 3 in Academica stadium, all matches went over 3.5. BTS to score or over 2 @ 1.75. GL

Re: Portugal > Liga ZON Sagres > 2013/14 BRAGA - SETÚBAL Despite looking a bit better than a few weeks back, Braga is still struggling to find the solidness and effectiveness that characterized them in the last seasons. Coach Jesualdo seems to have found finally a stable starting XI and he is now looking for continuity in favourable results. That is not happening as, after the home victory against Olhanense that broke a terrible series of 5 consecutive lost games for the Portuguese league, they couldn’t get nothing out of Do Dragao. In fact at Porto, Braga managed to control the game in the first half but without creating any danger. In the second half they completely disappear out of the field leaving a clear passage to victory for Porto who was in terrible condition. Also the fact that there is an ingoing President election with some new players being announced in the press is not helping to create a quiet and confident ambiance around the team. Late news of unavailability of Eder their best striker is a major blow for the team. Long term CB Paulo Vinicius is the another unavailable player. Home record so far is 3-0-3. Braga: Eduardo – Baiano, Santos, Coelho, Elderson – Mauro, Luis Carlos, Ruben Micael – Alan, Hugo Viera (Edinho), Rafa Setúbal has benefited a lot from the change of coaches they’ve made in the beginning of October. Since then they didn’t lose any of their 9 official matches with an impressive record of 6-3-0 in all competitions. They arrive after a difficult but deserved win against Académica which helped to increase their morale even higher. The defence is stable (4 clean sheets in the last 5 league games), the attack is dangerous and every player seems to know what to do in the field blindly confiding in the excellent direction of experienced coach Couceiro. Apart from the already injured for a few weeks midfielders Terroso and Tavares they have a full available squad. Away record is 2-2-2 Setúbal: Kieszek – Pedro Queirós, Vezo, Cohene, Pedroso – Dani, Tiba, Miguel Pedro – Horta, Cardozo, Rafael Martins I truly believe that the odds are inadequate and Braga is being really overestimated. The last home victory by 4:1 has a lot to do with that but Setúbal is much better than Olhanense and I don’t expect this match to be the walk in the park for Braga that the odds suggest. H2H is pretty much on favour of Braga but this year’s reality is completely different. Out of the 7 official home games Braga played this season only in 1 of them this handicap was beaten. Re: Portugal > Liga ZON Sagres > 2013/14 Sporting riding their luck a bit at the moment and I believe Belenenses may be able to sneak something from this game. Sporting top the league but they definitely struggle against the better defensive sides and unfortunately for them Belenenses are one of them. When they're given space Sporting can be devastating with their pace as we've seen against Pacos, Setubal, Academica and Arouca but they struggled against better sides like Guimaraes where they got a lucky goal in the 90th minute and I heard the 2-0 result against Gil Vicente flattered them. They also were pretty comprehensively beaten by Porto who didn't let them play in the final third and Benfica only conceded three against them because of some comical defending. Montero their top goalscorer has struggled against tight defences and Sporting's midfielders and wide players really don't have that creative spark to break these sides down. After a poor start on their return to the top league, Belenenses have picked up some great results recently based on a rock solid defence which includes draws away to Benfica and home to Porto. They've only conceded three goals in their last 8 league games but unfortunately they still struggle in front of goal which means they still lie near the bottom of the table. Another strong defensive side Rio Ave have already been to the Alvalade and picked up a point and Belenenses will be confident they can do the same after already taking points off Benfica and Porto. This is a city derby and Belenenses will be highly motivated to take at least a point here. They'll set up defensively and I believe this will be a low scoring game but I always find betting on unders dodgy. Sporting are full of confidence at the moment and may nick the game by a goal but they really do tend to struggle against solid defensive sides so I think there's some value here. Belenenses have also drawn 4 out of their last 5 league games so I'll take small stakes on the draw. 4pts Belenenses +1.25 @ Evens Bet365 1pt Draw @ 4.75 Bet365

Skipped over this post last night, thought this game was a few weeks ago. I watched Braga last week and I thought they were very poor, despite an excellent second half performance from Porto. Usually Jesualdo gets the best out of his teams but things haven't been going right at Braga. There's no way they deserve to be priced at 1.36 against any side, never mind an on form Setubal team without Eder. Nice preview, and I think I'll back it myself. Good luck.

In the last 9 matches Setubal played Portimonense from 2nd division, Santa Maria and Alcanenense from the lowest divisions. Unexpected results were tthe victory away to Estoril and the draw away with Nacional. Apart from that Setubal did what they had to do. Dont get fooled by these 9 matches unbeaten. Couceiro is still a poor coach and Setubal is still a team to fight hard to avoid relegation. im not sure yet if i go with Braga on the asian but im predicting something like 2-0, 3-0 today. GL

Re: Portugal > Liga ZON Sagres > 2013/14 Im going with -1.25 for Braga. They played really well last match on Dragao against Porto holding them to a draw at halftime and giving the home fans some headache. I think they created some momentum and picking up Setubal at home should be a good oportunity to keep making amends with their fans and start climbing up in the table Setubal is completely overrated following the unbeaten run of 9 matches. though as i said before they performed in 4 of those matches agains lowest divisions teams. Re: Portugal > Liga ZON Sagres > 2013/14 Sporting has been fantastic lately. Following the defeat in Dragao, they had some trouble against Maritimo at home, trailing 1-2 at halftime but they managed to win in the second half. Since then 3 victories, 2 away from home with 7-0 in goals. Belenenses has a lot of problems scoring. Since their last victory on the 5th October they only scored once in 5 matches...that was against Porto after an incredible error from Mangala (look on youtube). Last 5 matches, 4 draws, 3 0-0, 1-1 against Porto and a loss by 1-0 away to Paços. Belenenses fights to avoid relegation, they keep it tight at the back and try the counters...thing is that they lack quality in the attack and all forwards hasnt scored a single goal yet. the best scorers are Joao Pedro, a winger, and Miguel Rosa their best player, the former benfica player, their playmaker that will miss the match tonight. I predict Belenenses to park the bus...however sporting has been super lately, a lot of quality and options in their squad. after getting the first place in the league, cant see them loosing in a home game against poor Belenenses. 2-0, 3-0 is my call here. Wonder what your thoughts on Sporting are, every time I watch them they seem to struggle to break sides down. However I only tend to watch them against the better sides. William Carvalho has been an absolute revelation in midfield though, great player.

Re: Portugal > Liga ZON Sagres > 2013/14 My bet on Setúbal was deservedly lost despite being in the last minutes as Braga fully deserved to cover the handicap. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. OLHANENSE - BENFICA Despite not being placed last in the table I rate Olhanense as being the worst team in this League. They came after two consecutive defeats at home and in the last match against Rio Ave they have made two shots in the entire match one of them at goal. They have a total of 74 shots since the beginning of the league and the second worse team in this stat (Arouca) have made 108! The attack is toothless, the midfield terribly misses the injured Rui Duarte (team best player) and the defence is shaky and slow now aggravated by the fact that it misses the two available LB (injured Jander and suspended Seric). The change of coaches has done them no good as with Paulo Alves they are playing even poorer than with Abel Xavier. To make things worse they keep playing their home games in the neutral Algarve stadium which will obviously have much more supporters from Benfica. Home advantage is completely gone. Benfica has been very irregular this season. The injury of Salvio and the lack of a good physical condition of Cardozo are doing a great damage and the team is not able to show the electric football we were used to see under the direction of Jorge Jesus. They are coming from a poor home draw against bottom placed Arouca and they desperately need a good result here to raise moral. They performed very well midweek with PSG where they show some of the quality’s they had in previous seasons: high pressure, aggressiveness in the midfield where Serbians Matic and Fejsa completely controlled the situation and a deep play through the flanks with several crosses into the box. Salvio and Cardozo are still injured as well as Siqueira. Mid Enzo Perez is suspended. Without Enzo Perez I expect Jesus to field Rodrigo upfront who will join Lima in the offensive 4-2-4 that Benfica played in the last seasons which should be too much for a clueless Olhanense. This is a very ambitious handicap but after seeing Olhanense play several times I just don’t see how they will avoid a huge defeat in this game. Probable line-ups: Olhanense: Belec – Luis Filipe, Diakithe, Koldrup, Mladen – Celestino, Pele, Regula – Bigazzi, Dionisi, Balogun Benfica: Artur – Maxi, Luisao, Garay, Silvio – Matic, Fejsa – Markovic, Lima, Rodrigo, Gaitan Benfica (-1,75) AH 1.97@188Bet

William Carvalho has been an absolute revelation in midfield though, great player.[/quote'] sorry mate, cant agree with you. i personally hate benfica and sporting as i am a fan of Porto. but the fact is that Sporting has been really good. if you were in portugal and you were a usual reader of the press you´d agree with me. the atmosphere is awesome in their group..after a period of darkness where sporting used to be mocked every single week because of their problems, both in the field and in the management team, they are finally putting things together and the future might be bright for them. leonardo jardim is an amazing coach, he gets the best from his players...we cant say they have extraordinary players, but in the field they seem they are programmed to do things the right way. im not saying they will win the title, cause i think they miss experience and against Benfica and Porto that handicap is noted, but they will definitely be on the top spots till the end of the season. cheers

Re: Portugal > Liga ZON Sagres > 2013/14 Also agree on Drac Blau´s preview for Benfica. didnt see the odds yet but i think that 1.97 for the asian wont last longer. Olhanense still "fighting" against their own fans for not playing in their stadium. Paulo Alves, average coach, had an issue with a player this week, sending him of the training session. Rui Duarte and Jander, their most valuable players are out...anyway, a lot of troubles. Paulo Alves said that if they could create 4 or 5 goal opportunities would be great. Benfica will have a lot of fans in the stadium and to be honest i dont really care about Enzo Perez or Cardozo missing the game. Against such a poor team, after dropping points against Arouca, i donr think they will do the same. Benfica wants the title and they will eventually bounce back...good opportunity tomorrow. I predict something like 0-3, 0-4. GL
