Bowles' Windsor Monday nights diary

Re: Bowles' Windsor Monday nights diary Democretes ran on well again there behind the front 2. Front runners again doing well with Poole Harbour running to the line and just touched off. Will be interesting how many lbs that one goes up for next time. Not a great night so far, but Rome wasn't built in a day !

Re: Bowles' Windsor Monday nights diary Onto tonights card, 1st race - no bet on this, Hannon horse looks like it has already won and at odds of 1/5, unbackable 6.10 race, plenty of unraced 2yo's to have a look at. Hannon's horse has plenty of experience already and looks again destined to go close. Looking at the others, VARIAN has a decent strike rate here, in fact better than any other trainer in this race so anything he brings to Windsor must be noted. His win & place strike rate is over 60% so @ around 11/1 ORBISON could well be an interestt o some but is a NO BET race for me again. 6.40 Maiden race and trainer ED DUNLOP has a short favourite in the race. However, DUNLOP has a poor strike rate here only 4.55% and i wouldn't be touching this one even with Hughes on board (who by this time could be looking at a treble). Again, i'm not really interested in this race although if i was pushed, i would have some on STOUTES horse BEDOUIN INVADER 7.10 A handicap at last to look at! DUKE OF CLARENCE will not get the race run to suit tonight with its victory here on soft ground, the ground is drying out after a couple of decent sunny days in these parts. You need to be leading here or in front rank as the leaders dont come back to the field. Those prominent runners are STARWATCH and ISHIKAWA and these 2 could lead the others throughout. Ishikawa trained by Alan King who does ok here when he visits, has never won on turf (0 from 7) but won 5 times on the AW from 16 races, lastly off a mark of 74. Jockey SWEENEY has been in the saddle for all 5 wins and rides tonight. STARWATCH is stepping up in trip and has only won up to a mile. Last win was at Goodwood off OR 84 last june and with the claim tonight, the horse runs off OR79 so certainly capable of winning this off 5lb less. The young jockey Twiston-Davies is also having a decent start to the season so wont be surprised if this one goes close. The ground suits also but i wonder if they may take this one to either Epsom or Goodwood next as it acts on undulating tracks so keep an eye out. My bet in this race would be ISHIKAWA with a saver on STARWATCH. There is no value in the front 2 for me. Last 2 races to come.......

Re: Bowles' Windsor Monday nights diary 7.40 race Looks a tricky handicap to sort out, ATWAAL was another that won here on SOFT ground and i dont expect it to follow up on this faster surface. N KING the trainer has a record of 2 wins from 5 here at the track so worth watching him this season if he brings some horses here. REFRACTOR won off 79 on the AW and if they get this into a decent position in the field, this one could be thereabouts off a mark tonight of 74. Has reared up before so i am wondering if its worth an in play bet to see how it comes out. However, BUICK rising a 14/1 chance always interests me! CATHERINE GANNON is another jock who does well here and she rides BROWN PETE whose best turf win was off a mark of 60 so i cant see it being in the frame tonight but will note where it finishes as may win later in the season. DR LIVINGSTONE is a hold up horse and will be doing all its work at the finish especially with Hughes up top, may just not be enough to peg back PALOMAS PRINCE who has won here before and will get a lead at some point on these, did win its race here on soft but does lead and possibly may try to make all. Has won off 75 on AW and Turf now so a rise of 2lb may not peg it back. Favourite backers will be all over COUSIN KHEE a dual purpose horse but again the price puts me off a bit. For me, my bets would be PALOMAS PRINCE and a save again on REFRACTOR

Another blank night with 4 bets all losing, the 1st 2 ended up last and did not lead as expected The other 2 ran ok for much of the race but were always held and the winner atwaal did well for the hat trick Will have a review later to see if any horses worth noting for future

Re: Bowles' Windsor Monday nights diary Update from last week after 4 losers 0 wins 13 bets -13pts another blank week and todays meeting isnt a night meeting however lets do the card anyway as i have some selections 2.30 First Rebellion should get it all its own way here and be able to make all if unchallenged 3.00 Nocturn impressed me here 2 weeks and 2nd that day Poole Harbour ran a creditable race in a decent handicap yesterday. Up 3lb for the win should be capable of following up 3.30 Marvellino is another front runner who will get a lead here and should be good enough to hold onto it. Runs off a lower mark than last season's turf mark and should go close. 5.05 Ignore Open Water's last run which was at Royal Ascot in the King George V handicap when last in that race. Again, i have selected based on the fact it will be up amongst the leaders throughout and Balding normally has them ready. 5.35 Achalas is in my list of horses to watch out for however it concerns me that the ground may ride too fast. Meehan produced a horse last week to win after 2 years off the track and could do again with Crimson Knight who has an interesting mark. I'll take a chance on the Venetia Williams trained Duaiseoir who is fit from hurdling and she doesnt have many flat runners. Prices to come....

Re: Bowles' Windsor Monday nights diary not around tomorrow, but had a look 6.20 JAZZ MASTER looked capable of winning a race based on its 4th on debut here and sure it will be up with the pace this time and should be thereabouts at a fair price. 7.50 Between EMULATING and HARRY BOSCH for me, both ran well in a Newmarket maiden and i like those races in a horses form round here 8.20 Woodstock will run better in this than its Group 3 last time out at sandown. However, a horse with a course 2nd place IVANHOE could surprise at a big price Bets JAZZ MASTER EMULATING/HARRY BOSCH IVANHOE

Re: Bowles' Windsor Monday nights diary Bets 22 Wins 2 P/L -15pts winners Nocturn 2/1 Emulating 3/1 not sure if anyone noticed but York;s meeting has been good for recent Windsor runners with Cousin Khee 1st, Nocturn 2nd and Steventon star 1st

Re: Bowles' Windsor Monday nights diary good to see those recent windsor runners scoring at the bigger meetings, i might consider some for the Derby & Ascot meetings this year onto Monday night I start in the last race, a competitive 5f sprint. Its a long way down for the Easterbys and HOOFALONG can run well here after recent success at Doncaster. Owned by golfer Lee Westwood, and part of the ownership of Hoof it also, i will take the hint here and back it to follow up with course jock Hughes booked also. Recent course winner Exotic isle will be interesting having come back for a follow up with the trainers runners still going well 8.10 Both Hannon runners are course winners and both tackling slightly further than their course wins. SDS rides for inform Godolphin and USTURA is an interesting one and i need to watch the market on how the horse looks on course. Gosden also has a runner here in Proofreader but i am not entirely a fan of Robert Havlin so that horse may have another day. Bottom weight SULA TWO ran well here 3 weeks ago and i wouldn write off another place with the same apprentice on board. 7.40 WILHANA is well bred and Varian won this race 2 years ago and he has also hit a bit of form so another to watch in the market. Hard to get excited by the others in this one. 3 more races to come....

Re: Bowles' Windsor Monday nights diary other 3 races now.. 6.10, i am not a lover of claiming races but the Hannon horse should possibly win North Star boy but look out for CAPTAIN KENDALL whose trainer Evans has won this twice in last 3 years with a 4yo. 6.40 Hannon again here but not a betting race for me this one 7.10 again not really a betting race for me with just 3 runners For interest, i could see Hannon / Hughes winning all these 3 races to start off the usual Windsor monday night !! Bets to be formalised tomorrow and prices

Re: Bowles' Windsor Monday nights diary Not an evening meeting but on the usual theme !! Leaving 1st race alone 2.45 MOUNT CHEIRON ran ok in recent newmarket maiden race when 8th of 11 but ran well for a long time and Meehan brings winners here so with a decent SP expected, i will have a go 3.20 TARTAN TRIP is well overpriced here if it can recpature form when trained previosuly by Andrew Balding. Interesting to say the least that trainer Dace is dropping it to 6f when it was always a miler at least. Has won off OR80 so dropping down the weights now. 4.25 SMART SPENDER ran well here last week and was unlucky not to win the race. Trainer Hughes won this race last year and can follow up again. Runs off same mark of 80 as last week. 5.00 SAM SPADE would not be a surprising winner with Hannon/Hughes partnership a standing dish round here. Ran ok here a couple of weeks back which i always like to consider round here. last 2 races to come

Re: Bowles' Windsor Monday nights diary last 2 races today 5.30 COME ON BLUE CHIP can follow up recent success over Course & distance with only a 3lb rise and similar tactics by hughes should see it go close again 6.00 RUNNING DEER has only raced 5 times in the last 3 years and could have the race run to suit as should be able to get front rank early and dictate the pace. 1pt win on each

Re: Bowles' Windsor Monday nights diary Monday night card 5.30 no bet for me at this time 6.00 HORNBOY and NOBLE DEED are the 2 i would be interested in here. Both started their careers at HQ Newmarket and although not set the world alight have run ok in their runs since. Both trainers have decent records here and both will seek to start a run of form prior to Royal Ascot. 6.30 AUSSIE REIGNS dead heated here last week and although goes up 6lb, the trainer has enlisted the services of young jockey Thomas Brown who takes off 5lb so only 1lb above last weeks weight. BRECCBANNACH may be an interesting one at a decent price. 7.00 MINCE should have it all its own way here in this small field, possibly needed the run 1st time up and should outclass these 7.30 POOLE HARBOUR has gone up another 5lb for its sh hd defeat at newbury 2 weeks ago and seems to like this track for windsor specialist Hannon. Jockey ryan moore also knows what to do here and they will lead from the front hoping to out run the field. Impressive winner from last week TROPICS runs with a 6lb penalty but should be there challenging Poole HArbour at the business end. 8.00 To be honest, you need to see these in the Paddock beforehand and watch the market before having a bet. I may have a look just before the off tomorrow 8.30 JUPITER STORM made all to win last time out at Chepstow and Ryan rides the horse for his dad this time. Similar tactics off only a 3lb higher mark can see this one home. Bets and prices to be confirmed later tonight

Re: Bowles' Windsor Monday nights diary Not many runners tonight on the fast ground and with Ascot coming up 6.30 no bet in the 2yo - hannon's horse is odds on but who knows how good the others are 7.00 MOMENT IN THE SUN could take these along at a decent clip and if slipping them, may just hold on at the death. dettori rides. 7.30 STARFIELD stands out cos of the price around 14/1 for a Gosden horse in a C4 handicap. Ignore latest run and the horse would be around 4/1. 8.00 FOUR LEAVES comes back to a mile and if taking charge of the race can lead these home. Miss Cap estel looks the danger having won twice already this term and has to win off a 4lb higher mark. 8.30 should be an interesting match between ROYAL CHALLIS and GRAND DENIAL. i cant split them on what they have done. 9.00 This could be tactical with only 4 runners, too difficult for me As an aside Skybet are offering 40/1 on 5 or more favs. Have 1pt on that for interest! Bets tonight are 7.00 MOMENT IN THE SUN 3/1 Corals 7.30 STARFIELD 16/1 Bet365 8.00 FOUR LEAVES 11/4 Bet365 8.30 ROYAL CHALLIS 11/8 and GRAND DENIAL 15/8 1pt on each as always
