The Saturday 7 Strategy

Recommended Posts

Hello All, I tend to do this bet on most Saturdays so I thought I'd post them on here to keep a record. It's pretty simple really, I pick out 7 selections and stake 7 points in the following format. 21 * 0.10pt Win Doubles = 2.1pts 35 * 0.07pt E/W Trebles = 4.9pts Total stake therefore is 7pts. All bets are placed on William Hill which is best odds quaranteed. Starting bank is 100pts so by my reckoning, it should at least last until Cheltenham ! :hope Week 1- Saturday 29/10/11 A2.30 Torphichen 8/1 W2.45 Ashkazar 11/2 A3.00 Via Galilei 9/1 N3.15 Making Eyes 16/1 A3.40 Promising Anshan 8/1 N4.25 Slumber 6/1 W5.05 Dhaafer SP

Re: The Saturday 7 Strategy Results A2.30 Torphichen 8/1 W2.45 Ashkazar 11/2 A3.00 Via Galilei 9/1 placed N3.15 Making Eyes 16/1 A3.40 Promising Anshan 8/1 placed N4.25 Slumber 6/1 won W5.05 Dhaafer SP Just an e/w treble returning 1.71pts today so a loss of 5.29pts on the day. I thought it was going to be a tough day when Torphichen looked like getting a place everywhere except for the last 100 yards! Via Galilei (which turned out to be a pricewise tip) was gambled and ran a good race but just found one too good. Promising Anshan ran well to get 3rd but couldn't find anything at the finish and Slumber won well under a good ride from Michael Hills (there's a phrase you don't here everyday!).:unsure Hopefully back with some better ones next Saturday :hope

Re: The Saturday 7 Strategy Current Bank is now 87.71pts (loss of 12.29 pts) Let's hope Cheltenham brings about a turn in fortune :hope Stakes as always are : 21 * 0.10pt Win Doubles = 2.1pts 35 * 0.07pt E/W Trebles = 4.9pts Total stake therefore is 7pts. Week 3 - Saturday 12/11/11 U1.30 Get Ready To Go sp C1.55 West End Rocker 10/1 L2.15 Spring of Fame 11/1 C2.35 Araldur 15/1 W2.55 Cool Operator sp C3.10 Define 14/1 C3.40 Shallow Bay 9/1 Rather annoyingly Shallow Bay was 12/1 when I was compiling the bet online and as I clicked "place bet" it warned me of a price change and it had come in to 9/1. When I saw the odds grid on oddschecker, I noticed that Hills were out of line, so I didn't expect the price to last too long, shame it didn't last 10 seconds longer though :). No proper footy this weekend (due to internationals) so hopefully I'll be at home watching channel 4 racing. A winner or two would be nice :hope

Re: The Saturday 7 Strategy No good again today, it comes to something when a non runner is the best I could muster ! :\ Most of the selections were massive drifters so it wasn't totally unexpected to be honest. Loss of 7pts on the day - things can only get better, hopefully starting next Saturday.

Re: The Saturday 7 Strategy Time for an update whilst I've got a bit of time. :ok The bank leading into today is 80.71pts which is a loss of 19.29pts. Nothing much is going right at the moment, but hopefully it'll come good at some stage. On Wednesday I put up a 50/1 shot in the best bet of the day comp and it was reported as having every chance at the last when stumbling and finishing 4th. Oh well, at least I've got the place up in this 16 runner handicap I thought only to find out that the rank outsider (100/1 I think it was) was taken out shortly before the race to mean that only 3 places were paid. That's just the way it's been going lately unfortunately ! Maybe I'm too much of a conspiracy theorist, but I don't think it'd take too much to persaude the trainer of a no hoper to take out his runner to make it 3 places paid rather than 4 ! I think that's why it's wise to do the place market on Betfair when there are 16 runners (or 8) to make sure you don't miss out on a place with a non runner. Anyway, onwards and upwards, the jumps racing is really getting into gear today with Long Run, BFR, Kauto etc all racing - let's hope the racing over the coming months doesn't fall victim to the weather as much as last winter when it was very stop/start.

Re: The Saturday 7 Strategy Poor again today and another 7pt loss. The first one went down fighting but finished 2nd and Sa Suffit looked to be travelling well round the final bend but folded very quickly in the race won by the very impressive Dynaste of David Pipes who looks sure to win a few nice races this season, it might be worth looking at come Cheltenham.

Re: The Saturday 7 Strategy

unlucky mate, keep at it i find with these bets, you have 1 good day and the profit is enough to keep you going for ages, so i expect you will hit it at some point
thanks very much Bowles - I agree with you there, it's just that it feels a long way off at the moment ! I just happen to have started the thread during my biggest slump of the year, but timing was never my strong point :lol.

Re: The Saturday 7 Strategy Carruthers won the big race last weekend but I couldn't find that elusive 2nd winner to land a double. It was 20/1 in the morning and returned 10/1 so quite a bit of money came for it during the day. I had it at the unusually priced 15/1 which William Hills seem to use quite a bit these days ! Week 6 - 03/12/11 A12.35 Wyse Hill Teabags 7/2 S1.25 Safran De Cotte C2.05 Alderluck 14/1 S2.30 Edgardo Sol 9/2 C3.15 Noble Crusader A3.20 Buffalo Bob 9/1 S3.40 Major Malarkey 13/2

Re: The Saturday 7 Strategy The small return on week 7 was 0.37pts and last week returned 6.79pts with Tenor Nivernais and Cannington Brook winning along with a couple of other placers. It's boxing day today which isn't a Saturday, but it's great racing so I've found these 7 which I fancy today. :hope Week 9 - 26/12/11 W1.40 Shoracres 3/1 W1.45 Lackamon 9/1 M2.10 Swinging Hawk 5/2 W2.20 Arctic Wings 8/1 F2.40 Tavalu 16/1 W2.50 Noakarad De Verzee 7/1 K3.10 Long Run 5/4

Re: The Saturday 7 Strategy Le Beau Vai won the Welsh National but only 2 placers to go with it so another small e/w treble return. I'm going to bail out now since it's been heavy going (not to mention rather demoralising !) - I've had the winner of the Hennessey (Carruthers) and the Welsh National but not a great deal in between, perhaps I should've just focussed on the big staying chases :lol On the plus side, it's given me renewed enthusiasm for looking into devising a laying system, so it's not all bad news ! :) Thanks to everyone who dropped in and good luck to all for a great (and hopefully profitable) 2012.:ok
