BBOTD 3rd of October

Recommended Posts

Full Bloom - Warwick 4:20 Has only had the 8 runs to date and has had 1 win, on good to firm ground and tomorrow is the first time it gets that ground since then. Ran a fine race 3 starts back and was an unlucky loser at Folkestone over 1m 1f , losing out by a nose to Destiny Of Dreams trading at a low of 1.17 in running. Last time out at Epsom was eye-catching, finishing 3rd to Yojimbo over 1m trading at a low of 2.22!! Cathy Gannon gets the ride for the first time and she is a top jockey. Is 100% on the good to firm going and runs off the same mark as its last race, 71. Gerard Butler has had a lot of placed horses in the past week or two and im hoping this is a winner for him. Here is a stat that is significant: Gerard Butler has had 4 winners from his last 7 runners at Warwick, at 6/1, 7/2, 11/10 and 6/1. He has only had 1 runner there in 2011 , had no runner there in 2010 and had 1 runner at the track in 2009, so he is a rare visitor to the track which may be significant. This is his only horse there tomorrow. I think it should be a bit shorter than 8/1, WIN @ 8/1 Hills BOG

Re: BBOTD 3rd of October 16:50 Warwick Blazing Field Win (8,00) PaddyPower This 3 year old filly, are looking to break her maiden status. There are some great horses in this race and she need to do better then last at Beverly. This is her second run over the distance and last, she was 2/9 in a higher class. The going is the same this time around and that might fit her well. Blazing Field´s over all form. 10-9-3-2-9

Re: BBOTD 3rd of October 3.10 Pontefract Silvestre De Sousa rides the track well and one of his interesting rides tomorrow is CROWN COUNSEL, who is eased in grade having finished midfield in the Cambridgeshire handicap last month. This 0-95 looks a more realistic race for him to tackle and the fast ground should suit over a 1m trip over which he's a winner. 8/1 Boylesports, 1 pt win

Re: BBOTD 3rd of October 16:50 Warwick BLAZING FIELD has to bounce back from a poor run last time but it was hardly the 4lb hike in the ratings that caused it and more likely it was that her previous effort had come too soon. Given a break, she should run much better and looks one of the most progressive in this line-up and should go very well off a mark of 71. Trained by Clive Cox, she's relished the step up to staying trips after a solid run at 1m4f when she saw it out well. She improved again to the step up to 1m6f at Sandown in July when finishing 2nd to an improving type in Cunning Act (now rated 92). She deserved extra credit for being close to a fairly strong gallop and although had no extra close home, it was not like she was stopping. She was raised 4lbs in the ratings but ran quite poorly at Doncaster next time. It's definitely possible that the Doncaster effort came too soon as she did have a tough race and it was also a very competitive handicap, so the poor run can be excused I'd say. Upped to a 1m7f trip, she should stay the extra furlong, especially on a sharp track such as Warwick. There's hardly likely to be a really strong pace which will also help in that respect. Dropped 1lb since the Doncaster run, she looked like a type who could be rated in the 80's over these kind of distances after her Sandown effort and I'm expecting her to run very well off this mark of 71 as I feel that could prove extremely lenient in time. She'll have to bounce back but she should do, given she's been off for 51 days and should be over her exertions. Fast ground shouldn't be a problem (ran well in maiden company on it) and she's extremely overpriced at 7/1 I feel, as a price of 100/30 would be my idea of a fair price. BLAZING FIELD; WIN @ 7/1 Boylesports (bog)

Re: BBOTD 3rd of October 2:40 Pontefract - West Leake Hare - 1pt @ 11/2 (WillHill) Competitive nursery in the offing here but Charles Hills' juvenile will appreciate the return to 6f on this turning track and looks potentially well-handicapped off a mark of 77. He comes here on the back of a decent run when faring best of those up with the pace in a better contest at a straight track over 7f. This sharp but stiff 6f will be right up his street and there's plenty of pace on, which should suit him. The likely fast ground is also ideal and the yard make a near 400 mile round trip to run just two runners, this being the one with a better chance. Winston hops back on board too and he's the only jockey to have managed to see this fellow to victory, albeit in a maiden. 11/2 looks like a nice price about him and I'll take a chance on him. Plenty of dangers involved though, so who knows how it'll go.

Re: BBOTD 3rd of October W2.50 Make My Dream 0.5pt E/W 20/1 Bet365 This horse is the only c&d winner in the field with a 1st and a 2nd to its name from 2 attempts. It's not getting any younger, but that win over c&d was only a few months ago off a mark of 68 and it races today off a mark of 62. It therefore looks to still be competitive and able to exploit such a favourable mark today. It's last few runs have been over 6 furlongs and a return to the minimum trip here will suit. It's vulnerable to a younger less exposed horse, but at the price, it's worth taking an e/w chance with.

Non Runner 13:30 Windsor Rosedale win (8,00) Boyelsport The 4 year old filly drops in weight after a series of bad runs. She is now at the same level at her last win over C&D and that might suit her well. She got a great draw, and horses between draw 11 to 13 got a slight advantege here at Windsor. Rodedale run 22 races, in whit 4 was won and 1 ended whit a place. Two of her four win was at the same going, as the one today.

Re: BBOTD 3rd of October 4.20 Warwick Muftarres gets a step back up in distance and is lower than his last win here over this distance. Looked to be coming back to form lto and should get a decent gallop with a couple of front runners competing for the lead. Likes to come off a strong pace and should go very close today in conditions which look ideal. 1 Pt win 8/1 Bet365

Re: BBOTD 3rd of October 15.10 Ponte Diverting 3/1 sportingbet won her last three races which werent as competetive as today but would still justify harsher weighting in this company, shes in the lowest wieght class in this handicap, being ridden by luke morris. progeny of nayef, underated sire i keep an eye out for.

Re: BBOTD 3rd of October Warwick 4.50 Native Colony win - 7/2 bet365 PP Unlucky not to be 2 from 2 in handicaps and flopped lto on fibresand, but return to turf will suit and has to be better than his current mark. Will probably confirm form with Handles For Forks and this trip will bring out the best in him. Roger Varian in fantastic form at the moment and even if Light Blow improves for the trip, I think my selection would have improved enough to beat him. The top weight is interesting, but short enough price for what he has done this year.

Re: BBOTD 3rd of October Tipped this one up a few times on the site and it must be only a matter of time before she gets her head in front and her first win. Her last run on 6th of Sep was pretty poor coming home 12th of 14 runners, something that day must have not been right for her so i'll take another chance today, she's been over the trip before and seems to see it out, she was 2nd here at Pont on her debut so maybe she can go one better today. Hanagan takes the ride for only the 2nd time and that MUST be a positive. Pontefract 4:40 - Tiny Temper. 0.5 e/w bet @ 18/1 With VC. Best of Luck.

Re: BBOTD 3rd of October 3.30 Windsor - 1pt win Counsel @ 10/1 (Ladbrokes) - BOG This is a really nicely bred animal from Sir Michael Stoute's yard who ran with promise on debut at Leicester. Stoute's debutants often need their first run and it certainly looked that way with this individual. He was fairly weak in the betting but shaped with obvious promise. He was slowly away but travelled through the early part of the race quite nicely, carrying him into a midfield sit. He didn't get a run initially which meant Richard Mullen had to sit up on him, before running green when the jockey got after him. He wasn't given too much of a hard time - but did have to be switched out again towards the stands side before keeping on well under hands riding in the closing stages despite not really knowing his job. He should have come on plenty for the run, and looks a big price here with the step up to a mile looking sure to suit. Ryan Moore takes the ride which can only be a positive and 10/1 looks big for this son of impressive listed winner on her 2nd and final start, Kitty O'Shea. He's entered in the Derby and it would be interested if he's supported closer to the off.

Re: BBOTD 3rd of October 5:10 Pontefract - Moonscape - Back Has run good races on both racecourse appearances thus far. 2nd last autum on debut but then off the track for nearly a year. Did well in view of that to place lto when finishing third at Kempton and looked as though he'd come on for that run. Will be hard to stop if that's tuned him up for this 1pt win @ 1/2 Hills BOG

Re: BBOTD 3rd of October 5.30 Windsor - Botanist - 18/1 Boylesports Very open race and not a guaranteed pace setter here so it could be won from the front, may have a small bet on Mons Calpe at a big price as he could get a soft lead here. Botanist showed some strong maiden form for Stoute, winning a maiden that hasnt worked out too badly. Started this year poorly not showing too much, 5 lengths down on Dance And Dance is decent form but apart from that hasnt shown much. Switched to the small Tobias Cole yard he's shaped better on his last two starts, didnt really handle the track at Epsom but showed some late headway from a fair way back over the extended mile. Lto at Kempton he stayed on late once again over 10f in a race not run to suit and held up a long way back. The step up in trip is an unknown but he may lack the turn of foot required for the shorter distances he's competed in so far.
