Boston have improved, but they still look to me a squad that's light compared to last season. Kidsgrove have been pretty ramshackle themselves this season, with some woeful defending at times, but they are a capable side who - if they are on it from the whistle - might just cause an upset. That's with BlueSQ. I also think BlueSQ are taking a chance with 11/4 Farnborough. It's hard to predict which Farnborough will turn up, but away from home they have been generally threatening and occasionally solid (their one league reverse was a 4-3 at Basingstoke. Maidenhead went from two 4-0 defeats into an impressive run of four wins out of five, then a recent run of one win in five, with 11 conceded in the last three. I'd make them favourites but Farnborough are dangerous customers if they are in the mood and 11/4 is a decent price. If I get chance, I'll run through some other fancies later - Bedlington Terriers at 13/2 at Blyth, in particular.
Shipsupstreets
Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 2nd Qual Oct 1-2 I'm happy with Corals' cup list, not least because the long-odds fancies Bedlington and Kidsgrove are coming up at 7s and 10s respectively. Of even more interest is the price about Matlock Town, 11/5 at home to a Hinckley Town side who are superior man for man, but who are going through a middling run at the moment. They are clearly capable, as the wins against Halifax and Droylsden proved, but Matlock have only lost once since the opening day and have been putting in some solid performances. I think they are also taking a risk with Wroxham at 11/5 at home to Concord Rangers. Though I've no doubt that Concord are not the second worst outfit in the Prem, and to be fair they were excellent in the last round at AFC Hornchurch, I can't help thinking that they won't be relishing the trip to the leaders of the Ridgeon Prem who've conceded two in their 9-1-0 season so far. I had half an eye on Barrow Town at Mickleover, but they seem to going into this one short of a few first-teamers. Of the shorter prices, Corals are biggest about an acceptable treble: Dover at 4/9 at home to Carshalton Athletic, Billericay Town at 8/13 away at Chipstead, and Chesham United at 8/13 away at Dunstable Town. Labrador
Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 2nd Qual Oct 1-2 At the price I've taken Ashington as a sporting 4/1 shot at home to Vauxhall Motors. Whilst there is a 3-tier gap in league status, on current form the gap is arguably only 1-tier. Ashington are unbeaten in 7, whereas the Motormen have the amazing 5-1 win at Halifax as a beacon in a sequence of otherwise terrible results. Also, given Horsham's run of 6 straight defeats leaving them 3rd bottom of the Ryman Premier, I couldn't resist taking hosts Burnham at 12/5. The home team are struggling on their own patch in Div 1 Central but will have been buoyed by a 4-3 win at Aylesbury in midweek. They have also risen to the occasion to win at Slough and Chalfont who are both above Burnham in the table. I suspect this will be much more of a coin toss than the odds suggest with Horsham in such poor form.
G-Unit2
Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 2nd Qual Oct 1-2 glad both ships and labrador have highlighted two of the four STL Northern League teams reamaining in Bedlington and Ashington, but as a keen follower of this league im going to be on spennymoor at 5/1 with coral, they have won this league quite convincingly in the previous two seasons and have opted not to take promotion with a team that would arguably hold its own in the unibond! Therefore I am happy to take the 5/1 offered!
Darran
Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 2nd Qual Oct 1-2 Blyth Spartans v Bedlington Terriers Into the FA Cup and this is one game where I think an upset could happen. This is a big local derby and there are seven former Spartans players in the Terriers squad. There are three leagues between the two sides but Bedlington play in what is probably the best step 5 league in the country and should be highly motivated for this clash. The home side are really struggling the Blue Square North and have only two wins to their name and scoring goals have been a massive problem for them. I think this was probably the one game Blyth didn’t really want as it looks a very tricky tie and I am happy to back Bedlington at 13/2 with Blue Square. Bromley v Welling Having backed Welling in the league game of this fixture last week I decided to go and watch it and the away side were a big disappointment and on what I saw they are currently higher in the league than they should be. They created very little and I didn’t see too much in their performance which should make them odds on to win the same game a week later. Bromley played much better than when I saw them against Woking a few days before and actually passed the ball around which meant they created some decent chances and they fully deserved at the very least the point they got. Based on last weeks match there is little between these two sides thus at 9/4 (Blue Square) I have to take a chance on Bromley getting through to the next round as its bigger than they should be
Bedlam
Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 2nd Qual Oct 1-2 odds of 4.3 about Tonbridge away at Chelmsford seems rather large, given the fact the Angels came away from melbourne Park with a 2-2 draw just a fortnight ago, throw in the fact that chelmsford have yet to win at home this season and are without keeper Stuart Searle through injury. Tonbridge are always likely to score goals, so I'll take a punt on them at a nice price.
Modjadji
Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 2nd Qual Oct 1-2 I was looking for odds against for Horsham to beat Burnham, but as they aren't there I'd avoid it. As a Chalfont supporter, I'd avoid Burnham like the plague. This may sound like sour grapes, but quite honestly they are the most negative side you could possibly imagine, both 1-0 wins this season were absolute travestys, the previous round in particular we should have been 6-0 up at half time and I counted 4 one on ones missed. Like the league encounter, they scored with their only chance from a mistake. Not sure what happened in the midweek game, but it may be sensible to treat it as a one off without further evidence. Given Horsham's 6 league defeats in a row the match should be given a huge swerve, imo. They would have to be really bad to lose this one. RedDevil92
Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 2nd Qual Oct 1-2 My favourites for today are Hyde and Dartford in a double. Both teams are strong in their own divison.Hyde has not lost so far, drawing just once. They are playing away against a fully amateur team. Dartford is unbeaten at home winning all five previous matches and shouldn't have any problems with their opponents.
