  1. Honestly, I cannot take any more of this rollercoaster of a run-in for the Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League. @skyblues88's Show Me the Mane are still the number one team and their lead has extended to 3 points. However, the twist is that it's not Steve Durrant's EsteSakaMinging who are the closest rivals. It's once again @StevenKing's Lucky Pierre! Durrant's side are now down back in 4th place and 22 points off the title pace with Timo Fernandez's Undisputed XI in 3rd position. It was a competitive week in the fight for Manager of the Week. The four goals scored by Cole Palmer for Chelsea in their 6-0 rout over Everton on Monday night contributed to this. If you hit the 90-point mark then you did well... but you didn't do well enough! @eagle224's Strike for Maupay hit 101 points. It still wasn't good enough. Palmer got 52 points as captain there. The 103 points tallied by @Redno2009's LoredonVille FC also weren't quite good enough. Probably fair given the fact they initially selected Rodri as a triple captain but his lack of game time saw the captaincy pass to Palmer meaning he earned Yeniatakan's side 78 points on his own! It was actually the 107 points earned by @Bedlam's Real Sosobad that finished the round as the top score. The combination of Erling Haaland as captain bringing in 20 points, Palmer earning 26 points, and the Newcastle duo of Fabian Schar and Anthony Gordon getting 30 points between them was key. At the other end of the table, there was a bit of a shock! It appeared that the struggling System Active managed by Phil Robinson Smith would live up to their league standing of 206th place when they could only manage 15 points. It was actually the relatively highly-placed @Mrjol.'s St Mildreds who only got 14 points for the week. That has seen them drop to 61st place in the table and makes them one of the highest-positioned lowest scorers in the history of the competition. The transfer deadline for this next week of matches is 1:30pm UK time on Saturday 20th April. Don't forget that it's a double game week for some teams with the FA Cup Quarter-Finals also impacting weekend fixtures. A lot to think about in one of the final weeks of the season!
  2. Welcome to the forum @rasprerry! Hope you enjoy your time here.
  3. Hi all, I'm delighted to say that the latest Punters Lounge podcast episode has been released this afternoon. Our resident horse racing experts @Darran and @The Brigadier have sat down to discuss who they think are the horses to watch in this Saturday's Grand National at Aintree Racecourse. Shout out to @Fadertop-notch for his top notch editing and production work. Check it out below and feel free to share your own thoughts and betting tips ahead of the big race.
  4. Just when you thought they were down and out they hit back with a monster week to get right back in the title race! That's right, @skyblues88's Show Me the Mane may still be holding onto the top spot but the lead is now down to just 2 points after Steve Durrant's EsteSakaMinging bounced back with a huge score to move back up to 2nd! The likes of Timo Fernandez's Undisputed XI, @StevenKing's Lucky Pierre, and @Team Sagga's Team Sagga in hot pursuit we're in for a hell of a final few weeks to this year's competition! Manager of the Week was shared between the pair of @TFC's TFC and @Dennis Bergkamp's Allianza Arrancino with both teams scoring a whopping 88 points. TFC relied on the double-figure scores from Erling Haaland, Ollie Watkins, Kevin De Bruyne, and Pedro Porro. Allianza Arrancino's total was helped by the double-figure totals of Haaland, Watkins, Porro, Kai Havertz, Bruno Guimaraes, and Bukayo Saka. It was generally a solid week for all concerned with a lot of teams hitting higher than the average of 56 points. One team that didn't reach that target but will feel hard done by getting the lowest score of the week was Nicholas Smyth's 17 Wishes. After narrowly avoiding the lowest score back in week 20, Smyth's team clearly ran out of wishes this week with their total of 23 points giving them the worst score. We've seen lower but it's a bitter pill to swallow. The transfer deadline for this week's games is 11am UK time on Saturday 13th April. The pressure is building. Can the front runners keep their cool? Best of luck!
  5. The Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League is now entering the final weeks of the season and things could not be more finely-poised. @skyblues88's Show Me the Mane remain on top of the table and their lead has increased to 9 points. The chasing pack are gaining ground and that is evident in the fact that former front-runner Steve Durrant has seen his EsteSakaMinging drop down to 4th spot. Second and third places are now occupied by Timo Fernandez's Undisputed XI and @StevenKing's Lucky Pierre respectively. King will be looking to go one better after coming so close last season. Manager of the Week went to @PercyP's PercyP United for an impressive 95 points total this week. It can be argued it was more through luck than judgement with his captain Erling Haaland being consigned to a non-active role this week. This meant his vice-captain, Cole Palmer, was given the armband and proceeded to rake in a total of 40 points after his stunning hat-trick for Chelsea in midweek. Manchester City's Rodri bringing 12 points to the table also helped. Any relation to last season's winner Gareth Palmer and their @Gazza's United?! In terms of the worst scores this week, well, there were some contenders. There will be a lot of managers with severe nerves after seeing their teams score in the low teens this week. However, it was the pair of @DoppieJ's DoppieJ and @Steve75's Barrow Raiders that shared the worst score shame with just 9 points each. Olufemi saw nearly half of his points earned by Andre Onana and Ivan Toney. Steve's starting XI included three players that weren't even available to play! Shocking! It's a quick turnaround this week with the deadline for transfers for this next round of games listed as 11am UK time on Saturday 6th April. Best of luck everyone!
  6. It was a steady week in the Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League over the Easter weekend with no movement in the top 6 spots. @skyblues88's Show Me the Mane remain on top of the pile but their lead is now reduced to just 4 points with the chasing pack closing in. It's set to be a riveting set of midweek fixtures coming up with everything potentially changing over the coming days. Manager of the Week was easily taken by Muhammad Abdulkareem's MOHA FC with a staggering 92 points. Nobody came close to competing for that points haul this week. Double-figure totals from his captain Cole Palmer alongside Alexander Isak, Son Heung-min, and Luis Diaz set the team on their way. Is it a late charge up the table with MOHA FC now in 15th spot and not too far off the pace of the front runners? At the other end of the table, it was another disappointing week for Elaine Charles and their Likkle Lions side. A terrible team score of just 11 points has left Elaine's team down in 205th place with just three teams below them now and it has now been the lowest score three times in the last 2 months for the Lions. An injury-ravaged side suffered with only Phil Foden and Ollie Watkins scoring more than 1 point preventing it from being an even worse week for the team. The deadline for the next round of matches is 6pm UK time on Tuesday 2nd April. Remember, the clocks went forward this past weekend in the UK so it is now operating on BST (British Summertime) rather than GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). All the best everyone!
  7. It was a rather quiet week in the Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League this round due to the FA Cup Quarter-Finals leaving us with a limited Premier League schedule. There were no doubt lots of managers who either forgot to make the necessary changes to their squad or were unable to use a free hit so scores were lower than usual. Current leader @skyblues88 stretched his Show Me the Mane's side's lead at the top to 9 points despite only managing to earn 16 points as a team this week. Fortunately for Jay, none of the chasing pack managed to capitalise on this low-scoring week. It means we're left with a closely contested top end of the table heading into the international break. Only 9 rounds of action remain and this season could not be more finely-poised. Manager of the Week saw an unsurprisingly low score this week. However, the 41 points achieved by Carl Joiner's star of kings side was a solid effort given the average points total for the week was just 12 points and the highest score in the world was 78 points. It's the third time Joiner's taken home the Manager of the Week award which suggests his 43rd position in the table doesn't fairly reflect his managerial prowess. At the other end of the table, we saw a competitive battle for the lowest score and I believe history has been made. It's the first time we've actually had a 0 points score in this league. Not a huge shock given the few fixtures taking place and the fact some managers have clearly resigned themselves to failure this season! @HERE is undoubtedly one of the great competition participants across the Punters Lounge forum but in this particular competition, they are falling short. Their Upstarts team was solid in their own right but their lack of involvement in the fixtures this past weekend ruined Russell's hopes of getting any points. Come on, Russell, you're better than this! You'll end up being given the surname Kindelan if you carry on like this! As mentioned above, it's the international break now. So the deadline for the next round of matches is 11am UK time on Saturday 30th March. Plenty of time to over-think and let the paranoia set in!
  8. Hi @barney9386, It's kind of a collaborative effort with @The Brigadier and @Tumbleweed King posting the horse racing tips and @Fader posting the football tips. @MCLARKE also posts horse racing tips on the forum whilst @Darran is our non-league football expert who also dabbles in horse racing. Really pleased to hear you enjoy reading them. Thank you for the kind words. The guys do some excellent work here.
  9. The swinging of the leadership pendulum continued this week in the latest round of the Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League. It's @skyblues88's Show Me the Mane who have sneaked back into first place and now hold a narrow 2-point lead over Steve Durrant's EsteSakaMinging. Interestingly, the chasing pack continue to reduce that breakaway as well. Manager of the Week went to Thomas Kemp with his Zen team. The decision to captain Son Heung-min was a stroke of genius with the Tottenham man bringing home 34 points by himself. The total score was helped along thanks to impressive displays from Cole Palmer, Ross Barkley, and Illia Zabarnyi. At the other end of the scale, it was a tough week for many with the average score being just 44 points this round. Unfortunately, that meant we saw one of the lowest weekly scores from our teams to take the lowest score of the week. The small consolation is that after earning just 12 points both @Steve75's Barrow Raiders and Elaine Charles's Likkle Lions (for the second time in just over a month!) can console each other in the village stocks! The deadline for transfers this week is 1:30pm UK time on Saturday 16th March. Best of luck all!
  10. I'm gutted I didn't get a chance to put the Luton bet on! Sadistically hoping they mess this up and draw 3-3 now!
  11. I'm wondering if Luton are a tempting price. Yes, their away form hasn't been great but they've still maintained that fighting spirit and Bournemouth are going through a woeful patch right now.

  19. Apologies for the late update this week! It's been hectic here at PL Towers with Cheltenham Festival just around the corner next week. Anyway, here is a quick update before next round of matches. It's still Steve Durrant's EsteSakaMinging who lead the way but the lead has now been cut to just 3 points by the second-placed @skyblues88's Show Me the Mane who refuses to drop off the pace. Two big names in Punters Lounge Fantasy Football folklore are also sniffing around the top spots with @Team Sagga's Team Sagga and @StevenKing's Lucky Pierre both in the hunt. Congratulations to @Faruk FC's Faruk FC took the Manager of the Week accolade this week! A superb 102-point haul was an impressive tally this round. It was a proper team effort with Alphonse Areola, Fabian Schar, Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, Gabriel Martinelli, and Ollie Watkins all hitting double figures. At the other end of the table, it was Kevin Barnett's X S Bohemians who only managed to get 24 points. Not the worst score we've seen down the weeks but still not enough to avoid the bottom scoring shame. It was always going to be an uphill task for old Kevin and his team with four players firing blanks in Pedro Porro, Pervis Estupinan, Diogo Jota, and Joao Pedro. Bend over, sunshine, it's time for your punishment! The deadline for this week's transfers is 11am UK time on Saturday 9th March. Best of luck to you all!

  21. Ladies, gentlemen, and everyone of all identities, just when you thought the season had caught up with them they bounce back with a vengeance! After being knocked off top spot last week by @skyblues88's Show Me the Mane, Steve Durrant's EsteSakaMinging have hit back and returned to the summit. The drama never bloody ends, does it? The lead is now 13 points. Unlucky for some. Lucky for others. Dangerous for fantasy football managers! It wasn't quite the same high scoring week as the last round with both Chelsea and Liverpool being in Carabao Cup Final action but the Manager of the Week went to Arnie Booth's Aim High side with a tally of 83 points. The West Ham duo of Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus produced 30 of those points which helped. Not often the Hammers are responsible for such high scores! Douglas Luiz also added 15 points to the total with the Manchester City trio of Ederson, Nathan Ake, and Ruben Dias contributing 21 points between them. You will all be pleased to know that order has been restored in the universe with the Kindelan clan monopolising the worst score of the week again. Luke Kindelan's Medical Express City could only manage 18 points this week to finish as bottom scorer. It's becoming a family tradition it seems. Almost gone beyond shame now and come full circle to being something they should be proud about! Even so, in the village stocks with you Luke! Had it not been for Tyrick Mitchell and Evan Ferguson scoring 50% of those points, it could've been a lot worse! The deadline for this next round of transfers is 1:30pm UK time on Saturday 2nd March. Best of luck!
  22. Well, the Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League never fails to offer up the drama does it! We have a new team at the top ladies and gents with @skyblues88's Show Me the Mane leapfrogging previous leader Steve Durrant's EsteSakaMinging to take a narrow 2 point lead at the summit. Big scores from the chasing pack also mean that the competition is becoming more wide open than ever before. What a time to be alive! The Manager of the Week was always going to be hotly contested with a couple of the big teams in Manchester City and Liverpool having double game weeks. Inevitably, we saw a number of team scores breach the 100-point mark. However, it was the 159th placed @UmoruFC's Umoru FC who tallied up a staggering 111 points to take the highest score this week. That massive total was due to the genius decision to play a bench boost. This alone added 13 points and was bolstered by high scores from players such as Manuel Akanji, Bukayo Saka, Erling Haaland, Ollie Watkins, and Dominic Solanke. At the other end of the scale, it was further proof of how high-scoring this week was with the lowest score being set at a record high of 33 points this week. The Kindelan family have regained their residency in the village stocks with Marie Kindelan's QVC Shopper VIP (undoubtedly the oddest team name in the league) taking that accolade. It was far from the worst team score this season and far from the worst team selection but this league is unforgiving at the best of times. So grab your veg and have a pop at the head of Marie! The deadline for transfers this week is 1:30pm UK time on Saturday 24th February. Best of luck everyone!
