    Coritiba vs Santa Cruz
This match-up looks straight-forward but the game itself is likely to be tense. Hosts need three points to banish the relegation ghost and play the remaining matches in the championship with calm; and this game comes after a morale-boosting 2-0 home win against high-flying Atletico MG. Coach Paulo Cesar Carpegiani returns from suspension, as do key players left-back Carlinos and attacker Leandro. But important central midfielder John Paul remains absent and team will rely on Amaral.
Visiting Santa Cruz know that a defeat in this match against a fellow north-eastern rival will mathematically confirm their relegation. But the players are also keen to end these final rounds with dignity, after facing several off-field issues in this championship. Notably, Santa Cruz has been more compact and improved defensively in the recent matches. Coritba has also been solidly defensive and patient at home. Under 2.5 goals.
    America MG vs Flamengo
Defeat for the hosts will mathematically confirm relegation. But their mind-frame can be read from the decision to sell off this game and earn extra income by playing it away at the Atletico MG stadium.
Flamengo comes from a bad patch of four matches without a win (three draws and one loss), practically waving goodbye to their title hopes. The goal now is to secure at least third place, to ensure automatic spot for the group stage of the Copa Libertadores.
America MG has recently improved defensively, with the last three matches all ending with a single goal (two wins and one loss). And I suspect that Flamengo will seek to rediscover their defensive solidity, following a recent leakage of seven goals in the last five matches. Under 2.5 goals.

    Santos vs Vitoria
Hosts are in third spot, six points behind leaders Palmeiras. Must win this home tie to remain in contention in case the leaders stumble. Moreover, after this game, Santos will face two straight away matches against difficult opponents - Cruzeiro and Flamengo. But for this game against Vitoria, Santos has a makeshift defence, with three key defenders missing.
Vitoria is desperately clinging onto survival in Serie A, in a duel with Internacional for the remaining realistic spot. Vitoria has regained belief with the return of top-scorer Marinho, who is on fire at the moment. With the hosts' makeshift defence, I expect: BTTS and Over 2.5 goals.
    Internacional vs Ponte Preta
Hosts are in relegation trouble and must win this game at home. But they face a tense match against wounded Ponte Preta, coming from three straight losses and seeking a reaction to stem their recent free-fall. The visitors' attacking game has particularly suffered, following recent failure to convert chances. Under 2.5 goals.
    Sao Paulo vs Gremio
Hosts have little realistic hope of gaining a G6 spot for Copa Libertadores but have been in form recently and are coming from a morale-boosting 4-0 home thumping of Corinthians. Gremio's priority is the Brazil Cup final - but they'll be keen to recover from a 3-0 home loss to Sport Recife and particularly to avoid a multi-goal rout against rampant Sao Paulo. Under 2.5 goals.

    League Two: Stevenage vs Yeovil
Stevenage come into this game on the back of a midweek 4-0 home win over League One Southend in the EFL Trophy group phase. In an attacking display, the team started well and showed tempo as well as intensity against good opposition. Notably, for the first time this season, Stevenage Manager Darren Sarll has genuine competition for places and faces a selection dilemma ahead of the Yeovil game. The team showed hunger and belief, especially in attack; and now seeks a home win to start a good run of form in the league.
Yeovil has had a couple of unbeaten games, with the team steadily committed to Manager Darren Way's philosophy of solid defence while counter-attacking in numbers. Yeovil has traditionally done well in the cup games but this may prove to be a handicap in today's match - as they face a midweek FA cup replay away to Solihull Moors. The manager also has selection concerns for this game; striker Izale Mcleod has left the club this week on mutual agreement, midfielder Kevin Dawson is suspended after getting red-carded in last saturday's FA cup 2-2 draw with Solihull, while midfielder Alex Lawless and defender Ryan Dickson are doubtful for this match.
Hosts have offensive momentum while the visitors are likely to be distracted by an important FA cup replay in midweek. Home win.

    Oeste vs Avai
Hosts are walking a relegation tight-rope, being first out of the relegation zone and three points away from the team below. Oeste has under-performed in this second phase of the championship but Coach Fernando Diniz has stuck to his style and set out a team that has not been winning of recent - but hard to beat with five straight draws now. While staving off relegation, Diniz is also building the team for next season, especially the Sao Paulo State championship (where he was runner-up this season).
Promotion-chasing Avai comes into this game after an important 1-0 home win against Parana and gaining 3rd spot in the table; and is now paying particular attention to the next home game against direct promotion rival Nautico. To this end, Captain and key attacking midfielder Marquinhos has been saved from this game against Oeste; while the game-plan is also tailored to reduce physical wear, possible injury and risk of cards or suspension - ahead of that important game. With a 4-point cushion over Nautico, the key objective for Avai is to avoid defeat against Oeste.
With both teams keen to avoid defeat in this encounter, Oeste Coach Diniz is likely to deploy his favored 3-4-3 formation to stifle the opponent. Avai Coach Claudine Oliveira will likely deploy an ultra-conservative scheme to foil the hosts, while conserving his players for the next game. Under 1.5 goals.
    Nautico vs Goias
Promotion-chasing Nautico is coming from a disappointing 0-1 away loss to CRB, and is seeking an immediate reaction to recover points in this home tie. Hosts have a full squad with the return from suspension of three key players ie Left-back Gaston Filgeira, Midfielder Rodrigo Souza and striker Bergson.
Goias is coming from a disastrous 4-2 derby loss to Atletico-Go; in which they got three players injured and another two suspended for this game. Home win.

    Luverdense vs Criciuma
Hosts come from a 1-1 draw away to Oeste, played seven days ago and therefore have had a week to prepare for this home game. In this second phase of the Serie B championship, Luverdense have the best utilization of their home ground - with 100% wins. With 47 points and in 10th spot, Luverdense has already achieved their first priority of evading relegation but their second objective is to end the championship in the top 11; so that their youth teams participate in the Under 17 and Under 20 Brazil cups. Coach Junior Rocha's squad is full, with the return of important central midfielder Ricardo (from suspension) for this round. Hosts need a result here because their next game will be away to Vasco Da Gama.
Criciuma played a 1-1 home draw against Londrina on saturday, a result that severely dented their promotion hopes. Although Club Executive Director Paulo Pelaipe has stated that the team will continue to fight for promotion as long as their is still a mathematical possibility, their chances are now less realistic. Saturday's game and the subsequent travel to Lucas do Rio Verde has meant that the team had only one preparatory training session (Monday afternoon). The team's undoing in this second phase of the championship has been ineffective attack (sold their topscorer mid-season) and poor defence. For this match, Coach Roberto Cavalo misses important defender Diego Giaretta (suspension) as well as striker Adalgiso (injury) - another striker Jheimy had been injured earlier.
Luverdense is fresher, with no absences and a very good recent home record; while Criciuma coach seeks to revive a depleted team whose promotion hopes were dented in a tough home game last saturday. Home win

    Fluminense - Vitoria
The bookmakers have favored the home side to win largely because, after eleven months owing to the 2016 Olympics, Fluminense is finally hosting a home tie at the Maracana stadium. But this obscures the team's main failings and visiting Vitoria may spoil the party.
In June, Fluminense Coach Levir Culpi admitted that lack of squad quality and lack of finances (to improve it) were more fundamental issues this season than not playing at home. He had a largely young team, lacking the maturity to ensure consistency in performance. On the other hand, some fans were also doubtful over Levir Culpi's tactical acumen. The results in the subsequent months appeared to flatter the team but eventually these fundamental issues caught up with the team this month (October). Fluminense has not won in the last four rounds (three losses and one draw); displaying a lack of balance in defence and attack as well as deficiency of marking in midfield. In the latest game last Sunday, Fluminense drew 1-1 away to Coritiba (which was preparing for an important mid-week away tie against Atletico Nacional of Colombia in the Copa Sudamericana); but missed out on all three points due to poor finishing. Indeed, I find it surprising that in one month at this stage of the championship, a team in the top 5 has lost 10 points (or gained only one point in four rounds) but declined only four positions - from 5th to 9th - and is only two points below the G6! Paulo Autuori, the coach of Atletico Paranaense, has recently admitted the apparent lack of competitiveness in  the Serie A this season; citing his own team with poor results away from home but still well positioned to capture a slot in the Copa Libertadores!
Vitoria is in a desperate battle against relegation, having gained only 3 points in the last five rounds, and each of the remaining six rounds of the championship is treated like a cup final. Ominously, Vitoria is a mean visitor to the Maracana, walking away with all three points in the last two fixtures. For this game, Coach Argel Fucks (seriously!) is particularly boosted in the offensive sector by the return of key attacker Marino (who has missed the last three games due to injury) as well as midfielders Marcelo and Amaral plus defender Kanu (all from suspension). The return of such important players and the relegation ghost force the coach to revert to his favored away tactic since his appointment ie attack from the start, with strong marking to control the opponent.
My initial preference was BTTS and Over. But finally opted for clear Away Win at good odds.

I think EH -2 is a bit risky. Botafogo straight win is likely with improved home form and it's in the midst of trying to consolidate a G6 slot for Copa Libertadores next year. Botafogo are generally not proficient goal-scorers - their game is based on solid defence, exploiting opponents' mistakes and keeping the lead.  But Coritiba is still fending off the relegation ghost and is among the defensively tight teams at the moment. Hope this helps.

    Bragantino vs Criciuma
Hosts come from six consecutive defeats, the latest 2-1 loss away to Goias. It is the first team in the relegation zone. But the team has shown some improvement under the radar, not yet reflected in the results. In the last two matches, 1-0 loss at home  to nautico and 2-1 away to Goias, two realistic draws were snatched away by conceding a last-minute goal! The team is strong defensively apart from individual errors. Moreover, in the latest match against Goias, the team displayed offensive reaction after conceding and got chances to have won the match, and missing the draw through a controversial penalty to the home team. Therefore the team comes into this game more resilient and determined to correct the errors of the previous games. Coach Marcelo Veiga has two additions for this game - defender Diego Sacoman and Watson both return from suspension; though he misses striker Leo Jaime for red card in the last game.
Criciuma is in form but is severely short-handed for this match; missing two full-backs, a central defender and two key central midfielders.
Facing a desperate and highly motivated host and with key absences, I do not expect Criciuma to get a result. Home win

    Vitoria vs Gremio
Hosts have momentum. New coach Argel Fucks has  won three of the last four matches, with the latest a 4-1 away mauling of Chapecoense. He adopted an offensive posture plus strong marking from the start, with all four goals scored in the first half. And he keeps the same eleven for this game against Gremio; but expects a more intense, competitive and stiffer match.
Gremio's new coach Renato (hired two weeks ago) seeks recovery for his team, which has had three defeats in the last four matches. The latest was 1-0 away defeat to Cruzeiro, with the only goal of the match coming midway in the second half; otherwise the game was more balanced. But with two key players out on suspension (left-back Marcelo Oliveira and attacker Luan), Gremio's "struggling" attacking play has been further dented in this game . But Coach Renato's defensive scheme has been strengthened with the return of goal-keeper Grohe plus winger Wallace. I expect Gremio to adopt an even more defensive posture against a resurgent Vitoria. Under 2.5 goals

    Notts County vs Morecambe
Notts County Manager, John Sheridan, appears to have succeeded in molding the team into his preferred playing style; a well-drilled back four, a compact team able to cede possession and soak up opposition pressure but efficient in counter-attack. They are on momentum, winning their last game 2-0 away to Exeter and moving into the top seven. They host a Morecambe side that had a strong start to the season, topping the table after five games but have since faltered and are 9th. Team is no longer as dominant and now largely depends on solid goalkeeper Barry Roche to stay in the game, hoping to profit from any opposition mistakes. Team also unsettled this week by rumours that Manager Jim Bentley is being courted for the vacant position at Tranmere Rovers. Home win
    Barnet vs Leyton Orient
Hosts are wounded after a frustrating 2-2 home draw to Morecambe; in a game which they totally dominated, twice led, on-form striker John Akinde had enough chances to put the game to bed, but ended up losing two points after conceding a late equalizer! Now they have another home game against a Leyton Orient side that sacked their manager last week and lost 2-0 at home to Plymouth on Saturday; in which they had two first-half red cards (Captain and key midfielder Robbie Weir and debutant defender Jens Janse) plus two other players injured. A wounded home side against a rudderless and short-handed guest. Home win
    Cambridge United vs Accrington Stanley
Hosts appear to be back on track after a horrible start to the season. After winning the last two games to get off the bottom spot, the team has regained belief; dominating the midfield as well as possession and notably a threat moving forward (more shots on goal). However, in this home game, the team still needs to convince its fans that it has turned the corner.
The visitors are struggling after their run to the play-offs last season, following the loss of several key players in the summer. They are largely a physical, battling side and are coming off a tepid 1-1 home draw against Mansfield, in which they lacked offensive threat. Momentum and greater motivation are on the home side. Home win
