The situation in the UK took a more restrictive turn yesterday with the announcement of people being urged to avoid social contact and essential travel. Not really had much impact up here in Ystrad Mynach but my parents are now in self-isolation and that means my child care options have taken a big hit with local nurseries and child minders refusing to take on any more children. I'll continue to work around the clock to ensure games that are being played around the world are covered. In the meantime, a lot of us are going to be locked down or isolated so for the duration of this period of uncertainty I encourage all of you to keep posting here. This is a cracking community and if we help each other with some form of social interaction it will ease the whole process. I'm not just saying posting on these football sections but anywhere on the forum. I mean it when I say we're more than just a betting forum. I've met a load of people from this forum and have time for all of them. If any of you have any questions about anything betting related or not then I'm at the end of a PM. I hope all of you and your families stay healthy.

    Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid
The Champions League last 16 second legs continue into tonight and our focus is on the finely-balanced clash between Premier League champions elect Liverpool and under-performing La Liga side Atletico Madrid in an 8pm GMT kick-off at Anfield. The Spanish side hold a narrow 1-0 lead from the first leg but will it be enough against a team officially labelled as the best team in the world?
Liverpool are experiencing some issues recently. The domestic title is all but won. The UEFA Super Cup is in the trophy cabinet. The Club World Cup trophy has been sealed. However, it just feels that the absence of Jordan Henderson has impacted on the Reds a bit more than Jurgen Klopp will have anticipated. The 2-0 loss in the FA Cup 5th Round eradicated hopes of a domestic double or treble and the 3-0 loss away to Watford also killed any hopes of an unbeaten season. Henderson is expected to be back fit for this game this evening and, for me, that changes everything... well, almost. The downside being that Alisson is ruled out with a hip injury. Positive stats include Liverpool being unbeaten under Klopp at Anfield in the Champions League, Liverpool remaining unbeaten in two home games against Atletico Madrid, and Liverpool having progressed on the last two times they have lost the first leg away against a team in this competition.
Atletico Madrid know that they hold a tight advantage but it'll be tough. Diego Simeone's side were criticised for their gamesmanship during the first leg but, essentially, they did what they needed to do to get the result. I'm not sure similar tactics will be quite as effective with the officials in the cauldron of Anfield. I've been very disappointed in Atletico as a whole this season and I don't have as much faith in their ability to keep Liverpool at bay in this game as I would have done in previous seasons. It is worth noting that 7 of their last 13 visits to English sides have ended in a draw.
I can't over-emphasise how big a boost having Henderson return to the midfield is for Liverpool. It still amazes me that his achievements get down played so much by football fans. He is the main cog in the machine and it's no surprise that Liverpool have struggled for form in his absence. I think the loss of Alisson is a concern but I think Liverpool will be on the front foot from the start and I think they could well have enough to turn this tie around.

    Genclerbirligi vs Antalyaspor
Oh yes, it's that time of the week again when we put all our coronavirus worries to one side and turn our attention to our weekly dose of Turkish Super Lig action. This week's game focuses on Genclerbirligi versus Antalyaspor in a 5pm GMT kick-off at the Eryaman Stadium in Ankara. Both teams are looking at mid-table mediocrity but a bad run of results could still see them get sucked into a nightmare relegation battle.
Genclerbirligi sit in 11th place and know that any hopes of European qualification through the league this season are all but done and dusted. Hamza Hamzaoglu will be pleased that his team haven't struggled after promotion from the second tier. The spectre of relegation straight back down still lingers in the background with the club only 7 points clear of the drop zone but having successfully earned points in 66% of their home matches this season they'll feel this is a game where they can break further away from the bottom three.
Antalyaspor are only one place and 1 point behind their opponents in the league. Tamer Tuna could find his position as manager under threat soon with the club languishing far behind their 7th placed finish last season. The club is undefeated in their last 6 league matches and a run to the Turkish Cup Semi-Final will have done their morale the world of good. Interestingly, they seem to perform better in the league on the road than at home so we might not be wise to write them off here.
It's funny because I've found backing the draw in these Turkish Super Lig matches on a Monday is not only the most common bet I choose but it's also one of the most profitable. Maybe it's because the games are between two close sides in terms of form and ability. I am tilting towards backing that outcome here but I even think Antalyaspor could sneak the win. Genclerbirligi might display a reaction after the 3-0 loss to Galatasaray in their last game so I think the draw probably seems the best option.

Haven't posted for a while but I'll return with this....
Burnley DNB v Southampton (13/8 Hills, 6/4 PP) represents excellent value to beat an out of sorts Southampton side. Southampton won the reverse fixture comfortably 3-1 & in truth it could of been more, however Southampton aren't playing like they were then & have suffered a dip in form, with Burnley's home form being solid for a promoted side things could be very different here. The saints have only won twice when playing away from St Mary's in 10 this season. They also have an important semi-final tomorrow against Liverpool which will be a tough game, whilst Burnley have had all week to prepare for this one. Burnley have seen better sides then Southampton off here already & they have to be the play with draw cover.

I think that Citizens will win against Everton, but for now odds are just too short. I believe that some tipsters can see value on Everton odds, so I will wait, maybe situation with odds will be little bit different on Sunday. City trashed them on first match, missed two penalties and draw was really far from reality.

Roma recorded its third straight win last week after dominating the match against the aggressive Sampdoria. The match ended with a 2-1 win and further strengthened its hold of the table’s 5th spot.

The capital club has been previously pegged for the title, but inconsistent performances have weakened their title campaign.

Nevertheless, the squad has been showing improvements now and this has reignited their hopes of returning to the league’s top three.

Roma of course, will be the dominant squad in this encounter and Carpi must work harder to secure the upper hand in this game.

NBA New York Knicks - Los Angeles Clippers

    Recommendation: OVER 205

    Odds: 1.943

    Bookmaker: Pinnaclesports / Sportmarket

The frantic schedule is taking its toll as usual for the weeks preceding the All-Star weekend. Too many players are injured and their participation in tonight’s games is questionable, or at least their level of performance if they still dress up.

Luckily the situation in this game is way clearer and I very much like this total line. Knicks have only 2 rotation players (Seraphin and lance Thomas) with knocks but they’re not so important. New York are perfect so far on their homestand with 2 wins out of 2 games. They were achieved against Sixers and Jazz though, both in overtimes and Knicks allowed 113 and 111 points respectively. So their defense is hardly at the required level, to speak mildly. Carmelo & Porzingis tandem is clicking at the other side of the floor though and this is what I need from them tonight.

Clippers played yesterday in Cleveland, lost by 13 points. The score doesn’t make them much justice though as the match was closer as a level of performance. So tiredness is a minus of course, yet Knicks defense is not at a world-beating standard as I said. Chris Paul is angry because of his omission of All-Star starters and will likely go for some 25+ points again, nobody is even close to stopping him the whole Big Apple, let alone Knicks roster. Redick leads NBA in 3-pts. percentage with just under 50 % efficiency, and DeAndre will just do some DeAndre things (dunking on people and making 50 % from FT).

I expect a sort of 102-108 game, more likely for Clipps, let’s see

Premier League: Bournemouth vs West Ham United

These two played out a real thriller in the reverse fixture at Upton Park which Bounemouth won by the odd goal in seven and I expect if not something similar, then certainly goals and both teams on the scoresheet. The hosts and boss Eddie Howe have been growing into their EPL selves in recent weeks and have hauled themselves out of the drop zone. However, they seem far better suited to playing on the road and that was certainly the case last season in the Championship, when they were a pleasure to watch for 45 games with their free flowing attacking football, the one game they diverted from that, you will win no prizes for guessing, was at Griffin Park where for 90 minutes they turned into game stifling, time wasting, diving , thugs and got what they deserved in a 3-1 defeat . Not sure what happened that day, maybe they took a (Dr Jekyll) My Hyde potion on the team bus, but they tried to be something they were not and thankfully, that was a one off.

They spent big this week dishing out £10m for Benik Afobe from Wolves, he trained with the team yesterday and might be on the bench tonight, former Brentford striker Lewis Grabban has also rejoined the Cherries from Norwich City and he will not need much time to get back up to speed with the team mates he left the summer before last, their arrival will certainly increase competition for starting places offensively. Bournemouth have conceded an average of 1.7 goals per game, the most of any team outside the drop zone and United, who have scored 11 goals in five starts away to top 8 teams under Slaven Bilic will be confident of adding to that number in what seems sure to be a fairly open encounter. Their goal tally has dropped in recent away starts, but now that Dimitri Payet is approaching full fitness again, that should rise once more, he has created just shy of 50 goalscoring chances in the Premier League this season, almost double any other Hammers player. Their last league game , a 2-0 win over Liverpool in East London featured the second most attempts on goal of any top flight game this season and there should be plenty of goalmouth action again this evening.

over 2.75 goals 2.47 asian line/Sportmarket. I was originally tempted to go with the 3 goal line, but the more standard line is easier to play and odds are big enough already

    We also like Crystal Palace.
    Aston Villa-Crystal Palace:
Aston Villa’s situation is extremely difficult. Team is in freefall and supporters are turning against the club. Overall Villa is not statistically as bad as the table reveals but it’s hard to turn tables when the confidence among the club is long gone. Villa will need good bounces a plenty to get confidence and even theoretical chance to survive back. This game suits Palace’s strengths well. Palace will defend deep and wait for opportunities to counter attack. Villa’s players with low confidence are very vulnerable for losing possession.   Our pick here is Crystal Palace +0 goals (draw no bet/money line) odds 1.79. Correct odds 1.71 (probability 58.5%).

    Brighton v Birmingham

The ratings indicate that Birmingham is the value bet here, with Brighton being as low as 1.66. Birmingham don't struggle for goals, especially away from home where they appear to be better than when on their own pitch. Both teams are good going forward and convert chances, so the bet is obvious, I'm just surprised the price is as high as what it is, but who am I to argue?
