Bit of a funny one this race as I have a 10pt  ew ante post bet on Regional at 16/1  as I really fancied it for this race a few weeks ago then it was tipped up on sporting life for same reasons I liked so I jumped on 
Overall though Highfield princess has the form and fitness advantage so us the most likely winner....Regional is coming off a 70 day layoff which could be good(freshened up ready )....or bad (not fit enough for this level) ......but in his favour  he is improving rapidly just in time for the race with possibly more to come .....I could edge my bets on fav but I'm happy to take a chance at odds I got and just stick with Regional....  I still think he's value though at 10/1 ....that's still too big imo ....classy race 
*edit ....and now been drawn right next to each other in ideal 6 and 7 so that's made the race even more interesting 😀

Race 5 on day 1 is another heritage handicap, this time for the stayers.
Not great each way terms but 4 places for 14 runners is better than standard terms.
Again I have looked at the statistics over the last 9 years and these are my key conclusions.
Shorter priced horses have a good record. Those with forecast odds lower than 8/1 have recorded 5 win from 17 runners with a profit of 24 points. The remainder have 4 from 119 and a loss of 42 points.
6 out of 52 finished in the first 3 last time with a profit of 5 points.
Those drawn in the highest 4 stalls have won just 1 from 32.
This leaves the top 2 in the betting, AZTEC EMPIRE at 11/2 and ROBERT JOHNSON at 11/2

Won 3 of last 4 including CD , didn't see out 20f at Goodwood on soft lto , Conor Beesley booked , he's 17% here last 5 years with a +LSP of £70.25 his only ride on today's card .

There was an interesting piece in the racing post today on the Juddmonte where it was pointed out that surely Paddington can`t take another hard race , a view can be taken that Nashwa is now better at a mile therefore might try Mostahdaf to beat The Foxes with another bet Paddington to beat The Foxes in 2 SF`s................fully agree though with Mr Westwood about the draw and also that  York now vastly favours front runners ever since the track was relayed .
