  1. There are 2 prices that stand out there Blackburn at 7/5 at Rotherham. Stoke made real light work of Rotherham last weekend and I feel its going to be a long season for Rotherham and their fans. Unless Blackburn have a whole host of injuries I think they get the 3 points here.

Birmingham 3/1, should they be that much? Leeds are much fancied but they are certainly missing a striker and still suspect defensively, I'm not convinced this will be an easier game as the bookies pricing suggests for Leeds. Farke might need a bit of time to get everything as he wishes and to turn that in to results. I certainly think Birmingham are worthy of consideration here even if only at double chance if this can be backed at more than evs.

  2. I certainly wouldn't disagree with that final table, I think you have that pretty much bob on. I would be happy if we finished 4th bottom but I think it might be a bit higher.

Cardiff seem to be mentioned a fair bit in terms of relegation but 10th is a huge improvement on last season. I agree on your new manager too, there's a lot of uncertainty around him, but you will know better than anyone else in terms of the squad.

If I were a Rotherham and a QPR fan, I'd be extremely worried, Ainswirth will be out of a job come September if things start badly for them and Rotherham have lost one of their best players, alongside a League One budget. It all adds up to a season of tumult, fair play to Rotherham, they had a relatively good season but you do have to wonder how much longer they can hang on to their Championship status.

There iscertainly no value in backing Leeds or Leicester, if anyone finishes above those 2 it means these 2 have had the seasons from hell or someone has had the season of a lifetime. I do think there is value in backing Sunderland though, Tony Mowbray is a canny manager but I suspect Leicester and Leeds will have this season all their own way with the odd, not too serious, blip along the way.

  3. Have to disagree on my team to be relegated, Huddersfield, we won't be be troubling the top 10 that's for sure but Neil Warnock does not get relegated and he has only agreed to manage for this season whilst the new owner and chief exec stabilise the club and find their feet, he is not a long term solution. We look pretty solid defensively and highly organised in pre season with a clutch of talented youngsters coming through, sure we are light on quality in midfield and attack but as the window hasn't closed as yet there is still time. If we can carry on from last season we will be more than fine.

Just to add to this I'm surprised there isn't more noise around QPR and Cardiff for the drop as well. Stevie, what's you take on The Bluebirds this time round, I know you've got Karlan Grant in which might be the fine margin that keeps you up, but for me, are you worried?

  4. Halifax are priced up at decent odds for the 2nd week running, 23/20, at home to Bromley. This is no doubt a big promotion clash and Halifax could do with winning it to try and reduce it to a 3 horse race for the title. A minor blip of 2 consecutive defeats seem to have been put behind them with a good win at Dagenham. Again a think they are worth backing today.

    Burnley vs Huddersfield

One of the less attractive games on paper in the FA Cup 3rd Round comes from Turf Moor in a 12:30pm GMT kick-off on Saturday when Premier League strugglers Burnley host Championship play-off chasing Huddersfield. Neither side is going to win any awards for their entertaining style of play this season but will a more laborious approach be enough to see either team win here?

Burnley are still paying for their slow start to the league season. Sean Dyche's men are currently in 18th place in the top flight and 2 points adrift of safety but do boast a game in hand on 17th placed Watford above them. The Clarets have only won 1 league game this season and are without a win in their last 7 league matches. The team have had 4 league fixtures postponed due to covid over the last 6 to 7 weeks and that's undoubtedly disrupted their season. It was just 1 loss from their previous 7 league games before their 3 postponed matches in December and it's been back-to-back 3-1 losses since then. Home form has remained resilient this season though with the club unbeaten in their last 4 home league games.

Huddersfield have surprised a lot of fans and pundits with their form this season. @Kenton Schweppes will offer a far better insight into his team's displays than me but from what I've seen Carlos Corberan's men have adopted a very progressive and, in the words of many rival fans, negative style of play to rise to 6th in the second tier of English football. It's now 6 league games unbeaten for the Terriers and they're proving to be a difficult opponent for anyone this season. They have only lost 3 games this season across all competitions by more than a single goal showing how tough they are to break down. The performances of Sorba Thomas, Matty Pearson, and Danny Ward have been winning praise but can they deliver against top division opposition.

There is every chance that these two teams could switch divisions next season with Burnley still in the Premier League relegation zone and Huddersfield occupying a play-off position in the Championship right now. I still feel there is some gap between these two squads in terms of quality and if Burnley want to bounce back to winning ways then this is a great opportunity to do that. I can see a narrow home win in what could ultimately be a very turgid game of football.

Burnley to Win @ 1.80 with Coral

    Total Goals Scored Under 2.5 @ 1.90 with Bet365

I'm fairly confident we'll win this, Burnley seem hit by a few covid cases, are in pretty wretched form with only 2 wins all season, one of those against Rochdale in the League Cup. If we are a decent price I'd say we were worth backing today.

  6. Two good tips there Darran in the form of Dulwich who ripped Ebbsfleet a new one, not to put too finer a point on it and Boston narrowly sneaking it 3-2, shame Alvechurch couldn't make it a clean sweep.

I know it's FA Cup but a Halifax Chesterfield double tomorrow at 7's with PP looks pretty appealing.

  7. Equally Halifax away at Torquay, long slog but they are priced up at 17/10, given Halifax's away form is pretty decent only 2 defeats on the road both 1-0, although I was surprised to see them lose at home midweek to Wrexham, after going in front. Wild has them punching way above their weight with the squad they have but certainly worth a considerstion today I think. Torquay lost the last 2, both away mind but they're not immune to losing at home.

  8. Great tipping there Darran, a clean sweep, I've a nice wad to collect tomorrow from the bookies after backing the treble.

To be honest, Aldershot should have at least grabbed a point after Barnet had gone in front late in the game, missing a great chance from a free header with the goal at the mercy of the Shots attacker but headed it wide.

Forest were bad again, I wonder if Hoot will get the boot after that.

Bournemouth so disappointing, no urgency or goal threat. Parker has made them worse and if anything I will be looking to oppose them now.

I genuinely thought Bournemouth would breeze to 3 points in that, thats 2 weeks in a row I've backed them and they've disappointed.

The other surprise result was Forest Green losing at home to Port Vale, I had them in a 4 fold, the other 3 legs came in, only Forest Green were odds on too, sickener really.

You're coming to us soon (Huddersfield), I'm surprised as to how much we've picked up in the last week or so, we've a good home record against you historically, I can't remember the last time you won at our place. Anyway, we're not serious ay off or promotion contenders. I am surprised that you're struggling so badly this time round, Hughton has a good track record at this level.

  10. Taking a small treble of the early pacesetter, 1 each from the respective football leagues, all aways

    Bournemouth 23/20 at Hull

    Bolton 6/5 at Cambridge

    Bradford 6/4 at Leyton Orient

    Overall 10/1

I'm really surprised to see Bournemouth priced so highly, I would have them a tad shorter given Hull are pretty poor. Maybe the Blackpool comeback last week has clouded the price but I certainly have no problem backing them today.

Gone for a treble on QPR, Bournemouth and Fulham, around 4/1 with SBK. All at home and all in good form.

Huddersfield tempting me at 5/1 given how bad Sheffield United were in mid week.

Sorry mate, I put you off backing us but that is a real shock is that win for us, I'm chuffed to bits but we were trash again by all accounts, no shot on target until taking the lead. Sheffield United must be in a real bad way that's all I can say. Soz mate.

There is absolutely no value in backing us mate, we are absolutely dog shit. We couldn't even muster a shot on target midweek and had the rely on a Preston player to shank it in yo his own net. Its desperate stuff from us at the minute. Sheffield United will win this at a canter.

I can't argue with your treble though. I backed QPR at evens earlier, they were 11/10 earlier but, as expected, have drifted.

Hull were very poor. Just looking at Saturday and can only see Fulham absolutely thumping them if they play anything like that.

Does anyone know what the "Handicap Alternate Spread" is on Redzone? It's got Fulham -2.5 at 5/1...do Fulham just have to win by 3 clear goals as per a normal handicap?

If that's the case, that's a licence to print money. Fulham are flying and they should have run in 5 or 6 at Millwall on Tuesday. Despite Hull's opening day 4-1 rampage they look like a struggler this time round. I would certainly say you'd have every reason to be optimistic about that wager.

I've had a small bet from all over, Championship and L1/L2.

It's 5 aways, because the odds on the away team are slightly better. I've done them as a Canadian, only £2.60.

To be fair that's not a bat shit crazy bet. Fulham certainly yes, Forest Green yes, Preston against my team I wouldn't rule them out, lose tonight and we're in crisis after 3 games. I was tempted by Wycombe but that's a tough game I certainly would expect Wigan to be challenging for promotion this time, its not unwinnable but its a close call. Luton, had an average start, they are capable of scoring, 7 in 3 so that gives them a chance but I'm not sure, Barnsley could be hard to beat at Oakwell.

  15. Wimbledon at evs against Gillingham. Wimbledon have had a fairly solid start to the season and I think could do well this time round, lower play off places. I certainly think they can beat Gillingham at home tomorrow who haven't made a great start. They were 13/10 yesterday but have moved in to evs with Sky Bet.

Forest Green have made an excellent start and are away at Rochdale, they are priced at 29/20 with Sky Bet, which to me is worth a go, given they have won both league games and held Bristol City over 90 minutes in the League Cup I don't think it's to be sniffed at.

I went Bournemouth pre-season, and I still think they will improve as they get players back but I've had a good bet on Fulham to win the league at 7/2. Watched their opening couple of games and been seriously impressed. Look really well balanced with plenty of flair in the final third and lots of steel in the midfield.

Fulham should stroll this league, they've given us a right pasting today but we were absolutely chuffing awful but even down to 10 men they still helped themselves a further 2 goals, they struck the bar and had other efforts well saved too. If they are over evens on Tuesday at Millwall they are certainly worth backing.
