  1. Re: International Friendlies > 2012

3pts Bosnia-Herzegovina to beat Wales 17/10 BetVictor Bosnia are a lot better than their friendly results suggest and they could well be worth supporting in this match. Chris Coleman hasn’t yet got to grips with this Wales squad and mould them into the style of play he likes and with the goal threat of the likes of Dzeko coupled with some good competitive performances Bosnia-Herzegovina look like the bet to me. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/wales-vs-bosnia-herzegovina-betting-bosnia-herzegovina-can-put-the-pressure-on-chris-coleman-s-wales
Not really sure I agree with you on this one mate. Coleman has selected a strong pool of players and on paper it looks a managers dream to have that many players with so much talent in one team. Wales really picked up under Speed and granted they lost their last 2 friendlies but fielded under strength teams, but as I say they picked up big time. Bosnia on the other hand may not be as bad as there recent form suggests but their recent form has been poor and that can't be discounted. One thing I will say though is that Wales look a little light weight at the back but I still think they'll win.
  2. Re: Capital One Cup > Saturday 11th August - Tuesday 14th August I'm quite shocked that the bookies are offering such a good price on Plymouth as well. Are they getting a bit slack? Same with Coventry who are being offered at 11/10 by Paddy Power to beat Dagenham and Redbridge.Fair enough the suffered relegation last season but Dagenham didn't have a great season last time out nor have they made any significant signings,so why the good price?Do they know something we don't?

  3. Re: FA Community Shield > Sunday 12th August

Anyone know if Torres will be included today? Seems to be fairly quiet on him since the Euro's.
On Torres, Paddy Power at 7/1 for first goalscorer and 17/1 for 2 or more goals, which is a great price given the game probably will be fairly open.Despite his fairly barren run with Chelsea he still is a quality striker no matter what anyone says. The over 2.5 goals does look at a really tempting and sensible bet.
  4. Re: Third qualifying round, 2nd leg > 7 August - 8 August That's what I mean, the tie is dead Anderlecht will be going through the motions therefore it all points to a 1-0 home win or a draw. Everyone will be backing Anderlecht and common sense tells you to back them as a) they lead 5-0 and b)they are far superior. If everything goes as it should Anderlecht should win,but will they, its just too unpredictable to call. You can talk yourself into anything if you try hard enough.I mean yeah you could back the home team and lay Anderlecht off, personally I'm not a big time Charlie betting wise and can't really afford to be staking big amounts on both teams.

  5. Re: Antepost > League 2 > 2012/13 No one has mentioned Bradford, aside from one of their own fans? Why?At 20/1 they can't be ignored given their activity in the transfer market. Parkinson has made some astute signings and given they were a soft touch last season I can probably see why they are 20/1. Former Liverpool reserve captain Stephen Darby,Garry Thompson from Scunthorpe,Gary Jones former Rochdale stalwart will add much needed steel in the middle of the park and James Meredith,Will Atkinson and utility man Nathan Doyle have also signed.Couple these with signing of Alan Connell form Swindon to partner Hanson I would fully expect them to be challenging at the right end of the table this season. At 20/1 they are too good to miss. They have also managed to keep hold of Nakhi Wells and with the experienced Ricky Ravenhill to drive them forward they could have a good season.Pile into them at that price.

  6. Re: Antepost > Championship > 2012-13 So far Rhodes is still with us and hopefully that will remain the case. I haven't actually attended any friendlies as yet but in the last 2 friendlies we have lost 1-0 to Crewe and drew 0-0 with Oldham today.Grayson has voiced his displeasure at todays 0-0 draw on our official website. I agree we probably will be under estimated by other teams and will spring a few surprises on unsuspecting oppositions. Yes last season we did throw a lot of points away from leading positions more than any other team in League One. The defence was also a bit of a problem, hopefully with the arrival of Lynch and Dixon things will tighten up but its too early to say whether these shortcomings have been remedied. As for the Cardiff game we are deffo worth a punt over the last few season we have been excellent away from home, although I realise its a step up but I would definitely say we are capable of getting a draw at Cardiff.

  7. Re: Antepost > Championship > 2012-13 Scannell has been the stand out performer in our friendlies so far and has scored once.I think Grayson see's him more of a striker than a winger to be fair.We haven't signed another striker yet and if Grayson had Scannell down as a winger he'd have signed another striker by now,he hasn't so I assume Scannell is going to be playing up front. Grayson has made some decent signings but as for challenging for a promotion spot even a play off place is a pretty tall order. I would expect a top 10 finish with the signings we've made so far, we are really good value at the price but if you want my honest opinion we won't be challenging for promotion.I hope I'm wrong and we are but can't see it, top 10 finish will do for me. I also wonder if Grayson has something else up his sleeve maybe a season long loan,he's mentioned it our local rag but as yet we've made no move in that direction. The signing of Southern is pretty important for me as well,a solid holding midfielder is a must at this level and I'm pleased he's on board. One things for sure is all this guff about us being favourites for relegation way off the mark.

  8. Re: Second qualifying round, 1st leg > 17-18 July One or two shock results tonight non more so than Helsingborg drawing 0-0. I'm a bit annoyed at this if truth be known but I've been betting long enough to know the score. Skenderbeu and Dudelange also spring surprises but will more than likely be demolished in the second legs. All in all not a good night in the betting department.

  9. Re: Antepost > Championship > 2012-13 I love all the praise for my team,Huddersfield, and we are a good price real good value, but its a bridge too far at the minute. Grayson has made some good signings and I'm pleased with the shape the squad is taking but successive promotions, no chance. Top 10 will do us Town fans at the minute. I probably will take a punt on us, more in hope than expectation though.

  10. Re: First qualifying round, 2nd leg > 10-12 July Anybody clobber the Floriana/Elfsborg game today? Given that the first leg finished 8-0 there was always likely to be a hammering dished out in the second leg, surely someone must have hammered the handicap market and over 2.5 goals market on this one. Even a scorecast was easy predicatable tonight. Myself, I had a small accumalator which included Portadown who won 2-1 and Linfield in the Champions League drew 0-0, the other 2 were due to play tomorrow,KUPS and Zimbru Chisinau, all to no avail. The rogue draw rears its ugly head again!!!!

  11. Re: Antepost > Championship > 2012-13 That's the thing though,Neil Warnock does not need big money to assemble a promotion winning team. This guy is renowned for making a "silk purse out of a sows ear" and I really would not rule them out at all. Remember its a long season and just look at Reading last season mid table in the new year but by May, Champions and back in the Premier League. You don't need to be near the top from the off to win promotion, its a marathon not a sprint. By the way I aren't a Leeds fan, in fact I hate them, but Warnock is a top manager,I really would not rule them out with him in charge.

  12. Re: England > Antepost > BlueSQ Bet North 2012/13 Its getting a bit mental in the Blue Square North with the elevation of Brackley Town and Oxford City to add to Bishop Stortford,Gloucester City and Histon in the deep south for a league that's supposed to be based up North. I would expect the 2 favourites to dominate this league what with both able to command decent crowds and attract decent players.Halifax have added Jon Worthington who has bags of league experience to go with the addition of well travelled Ben Futcher. See who else they bring in as the a few of the play off team have departed The Shay during the summer, but I would deffo expect them to be up there come what may.

  13. Re: Antepost > Championship > 2012-13

Certainly think Huddersfield are worth a mention at their price. Grayson has bought well so far investing wisely in the likes of Oliver Norwood - who stood out at this level for Coventry last season - Sean Scannell from Crystal Palace who can be useful and also the signing of Dundee United full back Paul Dixon. Obviously the main task is to keep Jordan Rhodes and if they do I feel they have a strong solid spine of a team in Bennett/Smithies, Peter Clarke, Oliver Norwood and Jordan Rhodes. They have a very ambitious chairman who is a fan of the club and he is willing to pump money into signings also.
I love you AHughes but I think it'll be a bridge too far to expect back to back promotions considering we struggled to win promotion from League 1. The squad needs a bit of a overhaul but as you point out the signings we have made so far are encouraging and I'm quite confident we'll have a top season and a top 10 finish is definitely well within our grasp. Our prices are good value and I may chance a crafty tenner on us, more in hope than expectation. As for the rest of the league,Brighton interest me greatly this time they had a decent season last season and fell a little short last time but Poyet is a top manager and will no doubt be looking to push on and at least secure a play off place this season.Best priced at 18/1 at Coral,Bluesquare and 888. It pains me big time to say but I like the look of Leeds especially with Warnock in charge and a big money take over pending.Warnock knows his way round winning promotion and I don't see why it won't be any different this time either. He does have a decent squad at his disposal already with a few more quality additions, which will no doubt come with the investment by the new owners, they should be real serious contenders for a return back to the Premier League. Best priced 12/1 at Tote,BetFred,Victor Chandler and 188bet. Bolton 8/1 and Blackburn 12/1 look good to make a instant return after suffering relegation. Blackburn have made a one or two good signings but a lot depends on Kean.If they get off to a bad start expect the lynch mob to be making its way through the cobbled terraces of East Lancashire with burning torches looking to lynch the unfortunate Kean. The poultry magnates, the Venky brothers, may have there hand forced by restless natives should things not go Rovers way early doors from the off. Kean would be a good bet for the first Championship manager to get the chop market!!! Middlesbrough could be dark horses and probably will be selecting them in my patent, too many draws cost them last season but Mowbray will be be looking for a big improvement this time.Best price 22/1 Bet365 and Corals.
