  1. Re: BBOTD 26th March THORPE BAY 11/4 STAN JAMES 3.30 SOUTHWELL. Well clear on ratings, against some very average opposition. Still only a 4yo, and improvement likely all to come. But last Saturday over 6, was narrowley out run, but always up with the pace, and having some decent 5f horses struggling. He is bang in form, on a low mark, and a winner waiting to happen. Im sure he will be the anchor in many doudles n trebles today, Yard in for also, great SR on this surface(new). Today the step down for me only helps, and the best apprentice around comes to take the 3lb off, which is worth double IMO. Should be a 7/4 chance in my book. 10/10 Full of confidence win bet.:D

  2. Re: Aintree Weather Watch, 2013.

He does hit them but I remember Red Marauder & Silver Birch were both prone to mistakes . Worth a gamble I reckon & hope he has a clear round . I think Seabass has a lot to do to improve on last years great show .
The slower the ground the better for him, as for making mistakes, If its soft, i would seriousley think about it, as the two you quoted, had the conditions in their fav.:D
  3. Re: The PL Nag Me List ~ Flat Season Great Idea.:clap Can i throw the first in the bag. Donny Rover, 2yo. Charles Smith. 95k purchase ast Oct. Had his first run in the brocklesby last friday, was fancied going off at 13/2. Owned by the shrewd "willie mcKay". By Excellent Art, 1 in 3 strike rate, I have a feeling you will see a diffrent horse when stepping up a furlong, as last Friday was all a bit Hurried. However is entered at MUSS on saturday, over 5f, so they may think he is speedy enough over 5, and the experience may bring him on, But for me on breeding, 6f, 7f, 8f..Is were we will see the best.:D

  4. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread Aidy, Very good point regarding the AW, Top 3 no doubt. And to be fair he does receive recognition for that. And in this game the better you are , the more you become under the microscope, just as a centre forward, or goalkeeper in football, your carear is all about stats. And people(its human nature) will emphasise the miss'es. But averaging 35 on Grass over a season, 1 a week, puts him on the average list for me. Just my opinion.:D

  5. Re: Frankel and Black Caviar Northern Hem V southern Hem..Diffrent dates n times for 2yo. Mares usually come into season every 6 weeks or about, with the hot period lasting for about 5 days. She would have to be covered by no earlier than mid sept to be safe...As Aug 1st is the birthday for southern hem foal. 11 months ish pregnancy. However if she was covered by mid july say, it would then be guranteed to run in Europe, as it would be a late born foal, around end may early june.. Which is no disadvantage, to a horse that will probably only have 1 run as a 2yo, in the autumn.:D

  6. Re: Antepost bets for the Lincoln not being void by Betfred On the THURSDAY..My horse was declared, but since re-opening, is now not guranteed a run..Needs some to drop out. I got my money back yesterday morning. Still the bottom line is..IF A RACE IS RE-OPENED, IT IS UP TO THE CUSTOMER TO CHOOSE. IBAS will walk all over them, They are the worst for paying up, and customer service. IMVHO.:D

  7. Re: Antepost bets for the Lincoln not being void by Betfred I got 3 x £'s bets back, Yes i had the same issue...Until i had to explain to the shop staff,,Then a manager..That its a reopened race.. They were as thick as a bulls..wotsits, when it came down to this, All others i put bets on with PP, Hills..NO PROBLEMS, they just asked me did i want to void? Ask them what a tissue is?, Ill be surprised if they know. BETFRED AS EVER...Top of the shop for total lack of customer service... PS if any Bfred reps are reading this..Thanks again for Bobsworth:cow,

  8. Re: Apprentice watch

That makes it 6 of 6 :ok A quick look at Thomas Brown's stats: 11 wins during 2011 from 90 rides and already 12 wins from 50 this year! Seems that he also does well at longer trips: 23 attempts at 1m4f, giving 4 wins and 7 further places. Not even many pros can manage that!
A number of good ones have come thru Balding in the last few years, good yard to follow when apprentices are used, very good SR.
  9. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread

Not sure l agree about the average jockeys comment. It was the only flat meeting in the country today and whilst there were no Buicks, Moores, Hanaghans etc, the lads and lasses there today are right at the top of the game in this country. Hughes, Turner, Fanning and Crowley. Poor horses yes and an error of judgement from Morris but that could happen at any track.
Hughes aside, premier jock, Fanning, just about in that division(however gets enough tries), the rest struggle to break 50 on the turf.. For me it has to be the strike rate on turf. high teens in percentage, says were your at in this game. Just my opinion.:D
  10. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread

As we relax in our armchairs it's easy to say Kirby should have taken a pull at the bend' date=' but in the spur of the moment I doubt Kirby had much time to react. He did look quite glum in the interview afterwards!Elusive Hawk has a further entry in the coming days.[/quote'] i know what u r saying. at 35mph..But he had alot of time to plan his move...5 furlongs in fact, thats enough time...he had 3 choices..and the worst 1 he chose. But its poor fayre(AW), with average jockeys on the whole. I know plenty wont agree, but its all opinions. :ok
  11. Re: Flat Racing Monday 24th People do get carried away with jockeys performances on the AW, but the book says AK, hits an average of 35 on turf, over a 5 year period. If thats not "championship" stuff at best, i dont know what is. A hard working winter Jockey no doubt, but if I had a horse and he was offered say around, Epsom..Id have to decline.:ok As for EA...beyond belief.

  12. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread

Lingfield 3.10 Can't believe I've lost a bet on Elusive Hawk for a damn lose horse. He pushed EH and Kirby virtually out of the track. Unbelievable.
Very unlucky m8, best horse was 3rd. The jockey could have been a bit brighter to the situation, prior to the bend IMO.:eyes
  13. Re: Flat Racing Monday 24th

Ha ha ha! Timeform just read my email out (name of Karen) suggesting that all races are run without Jocks!! :nana It all went worng for Kirby and I feel for anyone on the fav. I thought he was doing the right thing when he started the move so certainly not goin to criticise him for it.
To be fair m8, he had alot of time to think what he was going to do...Going round the outside at the 3f marker before the bend, whilst the loose 1 was running in a straight line, he would have caught the others on the hop..but that was a poor move trying to do it around the bend. Or as i said when straighting take a pull before the bend.. I very much doubt he hits 60 on turf this season, may be wrong, but average for me.:ok
  14. Re: Flat Racing Monday 24th If that race at ling, the 3.10 shows. I had no investment in the race. 1 If you ever ever back Eddie Ahern, you have lost your marbles...He would get Frankel, and the great mare from Australia beat. The man is caked with corruption, how the hell we have to put up with him..God knows. Poor excuse for a jockey, Does not and has never give a hoot... He never wanted to place, never mind win. 2 Ive said it before, Adam Kirby, is an average jockey that looks good on the AW, Tactically inept in that race, all he had to do was take a pull, and decide which way to go, when straightning...No, he decideds to go around the outside of a horse on a bend, when the riderless horse was only going to go one way, as he had nothing to keep him in. Has he got any rides in Dubai on Saturday?:rollin Jockeys can lose you more money in this game than the horse.

  15. Re: Everton v Stoke City > Sat 30th March

I wouldn't mind backing the draw here at decent odds. Everton as we know often struggle when priced up shortly' date=' and with the chances they need to create before scoring, I think Stoke can frustrate Everton here.[/quote'] It wont be a cracker, Stoke 10 men behind the ball. And on telly!, who picked this one.?:notworthy Get on with the Ironing.:eyes
  16. Re: Microgaming Badbeat Jackpot

I've read half a dozen of your posts' date=' and I definitely know the dentist's chair is more entertaining :ok[/quote'] Depends on if your pushing or pulling?, Keep it up!, PS Keep fishing.:p
