  1. Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Apr 6-7 I have also done a small yankee, a bit like the one I did a couple of weeks back, with Alfreton, Bath, Braintree and Eastbourne (BSS) are in that as I feel all of them are bigger than their odds should be. Bath might relax now they are down and Tamworth are hardly doing well themselves, Braintree's pitch wont suit the way Luton like to play football and Welling arent always that good away from home and Eastbourne have looked better recently.

  2. Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Apr 6-7 Hayes & Yeading v Cambridge United (Saturday) Every season that Hayes have been in the Blue Square Premier they have made a late bid for survival and this year is no different. They have won three of their last six, including a great victory over play-off hopefuls Southport. Their two defeats in that spell were only by the odd goal in three and it is clear they are in the best form they have been all season. Cambridge have been pretty inconsistent of late but I do think they are struggling for form on the whole. They did nearly beat Wrexham last week but it seems to me that was more to do with how bad Wrexham played. They did follow that up with a 1-0 win at Lincoln on Tuesday but Lincoln were the better side and should have got something. Hayes have got much more riding on this game than their opponents and given the general way the two teams are playing at the moment I do think bet365’s 2/1 on a home win is slightly generous. Wrexham v Alfreton (Friday) The away side have been very profitable for us of late and although this is obviously a tough game I do think the bookies have priced it up wrong. As I mentioned above, Wrexham were awful last Saturday and were very lucky to get a point. Prior to that they needed two late goals to see off Darlington and lost to Forest Green Rovers. They have had a tremendous season but you always sensed they would fade eventually and although it’s taken longer than many thought, it does appear as if that is now happening. I don’t really need to point out the superb run Alfreton are on that has seen them pretty much safe for another year in the Blue Square Premier. In actual fact if you based the table on results in 2012 then they would be pushing for a play-off spot. If they were in that position then there is no way they would be available at 8/1 for this game and that is why I believe the bookmakers have got this one priced wrongly. I really do think Alfreton can get something so I will keep the draw on side and back them at 6/1 in the draw no bet market with bet365 and Stan James.

MY FLORA - 6/4 SJ - FOLKSTONE 17:15 - WIN good form going into the race strong with a nice string of p2p and on track winners including a big feild of 15 in a C2 . likes the ground and has won over this distance . lightly raced but come off a lovely 4th in the foxhunters at cheltenham and must spark interest , been well tipped and nap'd expect to see the price crumble . gets away with a decent weight considering handicap mark , stands everychance here
You really must ignore handicap marks when it comes to hunter chases. My Flora gets a mares allowance but also has a penalty to carry because of the Stratford race she won. If you were using handicap marks than Bermuda Boy is actually the best in. I find it very hard to split My Flora and Divine Intavention because I think My Flora is the better horse, but this sharp test is not going to suit her at all and will suit Divine Intavention. Im not surprised they are joint favs.
  4. Re: Next Luton Town manager ? It sounded like she had spoken to Allen herself but then from what you are saying it seems like its him who has been offered the job. I can only imagine that she tweeted info given to her by the club, probably Sweet, so if they want to lie to her thats up to them isnt it.

  5. Re: Next Luton Town manager ?

Bloody hell. This club seem to be more of a joke than I thought. Their Director, Gary Sweet about the appointment of the new manager: "We're effectively looking for two people. One person to get as many points as needed from the next seven games and to win three [play-off] games. "It may be that we require a different person, whether in League Two or the Conference, to take us forward. "It could be that that person is the same person. But we are looking at it in that frame of mind. "I think if there is an obvious candidate we will have found him by the end of the week. "If it goes beyond that then we're looking for somebody for the long-term who can do a job this season too." Source: BBC
Yep he was on the non-league show on Monday and said all that. They have interviewed 2 yesterday, 3 today and 3 tomorrow. No names have been mentioned so I think its an impossible market to play.
  6. Re: Next Luton Town manager ? My attempt didnt really work as you can see and I cant lose the boxes now. Bet Victor are also betting on the market and have Buckle at evens and he is 8/11 with Stan James. Martin Allen is 4s with both but he has ruled himself out from what I heard. Everyone else is 12s or bigger.

  7. Re: Next Luton Town manager ? I believe Skybet's odds are for to be in charge at the first game of next season whereas Stan James are offering a market on just the next manager. If you are playing its worth considering that they may well make a change should they not go up this season. They have had 50 applicants and they were interviewing someone last night.

  8. Re: England > Midweek > Non-league April 3 I dont think Gateshead have been improving, look at the teams they have been playing and they are games they really should be winning. This is the toughest game they have faced in their last 6 games. Obviously I can see why you want to take Luton on, but I certainly would say Gateshead's form figures flatter them some what.

  9. Re: BBotD April 1st

Thanks for clearing that up Trotter and addpea I may have made a mistake with what I wrote, was writing from memory :\ but I will check back later out of the house now! Hope to be able to invest time in BBOTD this month always look in at it but it is usually the middle of the month ... it looks fun :D
Ice Cool Benny who won the Stratford race has just been well beaten in a point to point at odds on which has done little for the form. The 2nd was also well beaten by Rumbury Grey at Ffoa Las last week.
  10. Re: BBotD April 1st Dont want to be too critcial and take over the thread but wanted to point out that Trifollet isnt well handicapped at all. If the race was a handicap she would be getting a hell of a lot more weight than what she is. In my view she didnt run poorly last time that is just as good as she is and was a crazy favourite. If she won I would consider giving up punting on hunter chases.

  11. Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Mar 30-31 I think your being harsh on Luton at the start of the game as they looked really up for it to start with and York looked hopeless, but then as soon as they got into the game Luton began to struggle. Sadly no bookie offers a next manager to be sacked not even Blue Square although they always get asked. Luton have stopped winning games again and they now have to go and really earn their place in the play-offs.

  12. Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Mar 30-31 Just witnessed a great game of football there. Luton played the best I have seen them this season for the first 25 minutes and York really struggled if Luton had grabbed a 2nd it might well have been game over. After that though York were bang in the game and for me fully deserved the win in the end as Luton just ran out of puff. Also you just felt that they werent going to score again especially after Gray came off. Tyler had a good night but he should have done better for the first and the Luton defence were very sleepy for the second. Massive boos from the Luton crowd after the game and they were making their feelings known to Brabin at the end.

  13. Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Mar 30-31 Braintree v Alfreton The home side have had a great first season in the Blue Square Premier and Alan Devonshire has done a fantastic job. They have been in fair form of late, although wins against Newport (sendings off helped) and Barrow (in woeful form right now) aren’t maybe as strong as they look on paper. They fought out a dull 0-0 draw with Southport on Tuesday and I think Alfreton are in better shape at the moment. I have wanted to keep on the right side of Alfreton for a while now and they have now won five of their last six games. That run of form has seen them pretty much safe, which is some effort given how poor they looked for the first few months of the season. Their away form has picked up and it’s much better than the stats for the whole season make it look. I don’t think there is as big a difference between these two sides as the betting suggests, indeed as I say above I reckon Alfreton are the better side at the moment. Coral’s offer of 13/5 for an away win looks value to me.

  14. Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet North & South Mar 31 Gloucester City v Boston The Blue Square North has been a very tricky league to get right in recent weeks so I am just recommending one bet in the division this weekend and ironically I am taking on the team I support. The main reason for this is the fact that City are really struggling on the injury and suspension front at the moment. That added to the fact that the team have had plenty of travelling to do meant that a pretty tired side struggled against Gainsborough on Tuesday night. Gloucester only managed to name three subs on Tuesday and had to bring all three on due to injuries, so there will be a lack of bodies on Saturday. Scoring goals has also been a massive problem, with only four in their last six. Boston have lost their last two games but are playing pretty well in general and certainly have it in them to beat a weakened home side. I would make Boston favourites to win the game so BetVictor’s 19/10 makes plenty of appeal. Dover v Boreham Wood Dover’s recent great run of form has meant they have given themselves a real chance of getting into the play-offs. However in the past week they have suffered two poor losses at home to teams fighting against relegation in Staines and Hampton & Richmond. Obviously they will be keen to bounce back but failed to do that on Tuesday and from what I saw of Boreham Wood last weekend they are capable of getting a result. The first half against Eastleigh was fairly level but they were very impressive in the second half and crucially were really clinical with their finishing. They are a big danger at set pieces and will create chances, that’s for certain. One slight concern is their away form has not always been as good as it could be, but I do think they are in better shape now than they have been for a most of the season and I am happy to back them at BetVictor’s 27/10. Eastleigh v Eastbourne To be fair to them I’m not sure many teams would have had the character not to let their heads drop after what happened in the Boreham Wood game, but the concern for me is they seem to have hit a real dip in form in general and confidence looks rock bottom. They have only picked up one point in their last five games and even their solid home form for most of the season has looked dodgy. Meanwhile their opponents are in great shape as they try and draw themselves away from the relegation zone. They are five games unbeaten now, which includes two draws against play-off chasing Sutton and a fantastic win over league leaders Woking. They have won three on the bounce and if they continue in that rich vein of form they should take full advantage of a low on confidence Eastleigh. BetVictor are 2/1 about an away victory. Staines v Truro The final bet this week is the one home team I like the look of. Staines’ home form is a concern I admit, they have only won once in their last eight and three times all season, but they are playing well in general and Truro’s away form is even worse recently as they have only picked up one point in their last seven games on the road and have lost the last five. Staines were really impressive in beating Dover 4-0 on Saturday and if they can perform anywhere near that level that should be more than enough to see of a Truro team who as I point out really struggle away from home. Blue Square and BetVictor are best at 11/8 for a home win.

  15. Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Mar 30-31 I didnt realise until I read it earlier that York havent lost on the road since September. Also I there is no real reason why your mid-week form is shocking its an odd one though and I think you will admit that your worse performances have been on the evening games. Should be an interesting game whatever and Im looking forward to watching it.

  16. Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Mar 30-31 Luton's record against the top sides and the fact they have a shocking record in night games this season is enough for me to want to take them on. The only problem I have is that York seem pretty wasteful in front of goal at the moment and now their price has come in I am not as keen to back them. I think if I was to have a bet I would probably side with the draw. The longer York keep Luton out the better as it wont take much for the fans to get on the players and managers backs. Having said that though I dont think a draw helps either team massively as both need a win to help their play-off bids
