Re: Flat season - Too difficult to profit? I have to agree with you there Dannn17 , its very hard to find winners flat or jumps . Now we have more tools and information available to us its even harder , sometimes with the extra information we have at our disposal , leads us down the wrong path. And if anybody sniffs out any sort of value it can be gone within minutes , so yes it is a lot harder now. There is a minority who make it pay , but for the majority if we don't access to inside information then its going to be a struggle. Trainers such as Ferdy Murphy , B Ellison , G Baker , D Flood are good trainers but don't expect them to win when the form tells you so , they'll pull your pants down when you least expect them to , so without prior knowledge we are sometimes doomed.

Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread Why did Richard Hughes opt for the Bahri route yesterday on Crius in the Tercentenary Stakes when the remainder of the field went the conventional route ? When he realised he made an error of judgement he didn't bother riding home for a place almost 100 lengths behind , typical R Hughes . Talented but lazy jockey , no wonder H Cecil , M Stoute and K Abdulla teamed up and sacked him.

Re: What is the best type of bet in horse racing ?
Its less than 24 hrs away , probably one of the best value bets of the year. The Tote Trifecta roll over. Its very likely going to be the Wokingham like it has been 9 times out of the last 10 . Also theres every chance its going to be the biggest Trifecta pool of the entire 2012 Flat season , get on . Over £50K added to prizepool !! Minimum unit stake 10p !! -

Re: Placepot! please read!
Did 640 lines at 5p , £32 , got it to 10p , £130 back. Wanted favorite/pricewise out of the frame last race , would have paid a lot more.Any joy mate? How much was the pot after the 6 legs? -
Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread I'm glad this will be the final BBC Royal Ascot , I find most of the presenters awful. Can't stand that Rishi , he is one of the worst presenters on TV , Henry Cecil ran circles round him yesterday in the post Frankel interview. Probably due to cutbacks they've got ride of that repugnant James Sherwood and that fairy Louis Marriette. Just that milf Suzy Perry this year which is just about bearable. John Parrot should stick to snooker or pantomine. Bartlett is Ok but his tone sends me to sleep. I know C4 also have a few awful presenters too but hopefully they'll do a better job.

Re: Placepot! please read! The Placepot pools are fantastic this week with a lot of clueless punters placing £10/£20 single selection lines , massive value. £500+K today and yesterday , 8 times the daily norm. If its within your budget I'd recommend having 3/4/5 selections in most legs , they'll pay very well this week. I'm through to the last leg at the moment albeit to 10p , got 4 runners on my side.

Re: Placepot! please read! At the moment the dividend after 4 races is £55 to a £1 stake. At the moment you are running to 40p so if you get one in the next 2 you'll make a nice few quid. The SP is irrelevant . Visit Totesport and click on the Live Information and you'll be able to calculate your expected returns. Don't forget to deduct the 27% first.

Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread
I look forward to this meeting every year and have learnt to keep stakes low especially the handicaps , may have decent sized bet in some of the Gr1's. This is one of the few meetings where the vast majority of connections are trying their best to win. I can only remember 3 or 4 Royal Ascots where I've come out massively infront , so if I get one EW placed horse on the day I'm happy. As for my day personally, I honestly couldn't have had a worse day if I tried. Not even a placed runner. I don't know what to say. I'm embarrassed! -
Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread
We all know the differing place terms for h'caps and non h'caps , just hoping to get a reasonable answer . My own opinion is in line with TheRat , that it is to skank punters. It's a listed race mate so whether it's 20 runners or 40 runners they don't officially have to pay more than 3 places as it isn't a 16+ runner handicap. Some bookies might offer 4 places to get trade as a special but if it's likely to cost them loads they are unlikely to bother. Bet365 are usually pretty good for paying extra places, did any of the bookies offer 4 places for that last race at all today? Looking at that last race there were 8 or 9 with no chance out at 50-1 to 100-1, maybe that influenced them to go only 3 places? -
Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread
I've asked a few times on here with no reasonable answer, do you know why 20+ runner fields don't pay 4 places like the last race at Ascot today ?Been said a lot of times but bookies on couse 3 places for massive fields is a disgrace. And they moan about online betting/turnover etc....... -
Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread
I do think it was a good bet , one of the few bankers of the year . I wouldn't go as far as to put my mortgage on , but if i could have pawned my second hand Lexus and buy it back at the same price , I would have done and lumped on. I know many wouldn't dream of backing long odds on shots , but sometimes they provide income with very little sweat. I recall reading an article about 20 years ago about Harry Findlay before he became a prominant racing figure , and at the time he said he regularly bet £16K to win £1K , £20K to £1K etc , on tennis / snooker matches. In later years , I did read he went bust a few times :)So.... Mr Parrot is fairly sure that Pro Punters back at 1/10...!? :spank Ignorance is bliss John! Only Harry Findlay and Whizz can make this pay surely?!;) -
Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread
Its Royal Ascot , most of the crowd have money to burn and also don't have clue about the sport.....& Bookies on course currently betting to around 137% on the first.....!! -
Re: The Jockey Thread
Ann Stokell' date=' not so cold anymore![/quote'] Fantastic , very happy for her. Lets hope she bags a few more , especially when she's carrying our money of course. -
Re: The Jockey Thread
Oh good god' date=' Marco Demuro in the 4.40 at Wolverhampton. No money on it thank god but he's ridden the horse out a circuit early and eased the horse down thinking he's won by 4 lengths or so. Mark Johnston won't be happy....[/quote'] Its a common mistake at Wolverhampton , happens all the time. Banned jockey Dean Mernagh used to ride a circuit too early all the time there amongst other jockeys. I remember 12 years ago R Ffrench easing up far too early onboard Mark Johnstons Happy Diamond , and getting beat by Kim Tinkler ( female jockey ) on a Don Corleone trained donkey , so even though M Johnston will not be happy , I don't think it will ruin the fruitful partnership because R Ffrench continued to ride for him. -
Re: Anyone a racing post member?? On the cards page for todays 430 Leicester in the Horse racing Tips section under stats , it tips Ann Stokell/Hold The Tiger highlighting shes gone 1082 days without a winner. The betting forcast was 66/1 for the 5 horse race. What sort of tipping is that !! Are some of the tips in in that section automated ? Or is somebody at the RP having a laugh , very unprofessional to put it up as a tip . The winner was a 3/10 shot !! I'm looking forward to my membership running out in a few days time. The news section is horrendous to use now.

Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread
Emma last year interviewed Hayley last year , I think after her Gr1 winner , Emma probably threw up as soon as they cut the camera. Incidently she was a very very profitable jockey when she used to ride , probably one of the best in that sphere , used to back her blind.I saw that yesterday and thought the same as you. Has she had to interview Hayley on a winner yet? I can't recall if I have seen her interview the woman her hubby has allegedly been banging. -
Re: Wanted !! tricast/trifecta staking plan. Kicking myself for not making time to put a bet on, as its the type of result I hope to see ie. the favorite or 2nd fav getting in the frame. £20K dividend compared to £5K tricast , even at 10p thats £2000 !!!

Re: The Jockey Thread Fantastic to see former champion apprentice Saleem Golam have a big televised winner at York after a few years in the wilderness.Lets hope he bags a few more in the comming season.
-
Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread Emma Spencer was on duty at Haydock today and the last thing she wanted was to see Jamie Spencer have a winner on a televised race. What happens............. he wins the 2.30. She had to interview him with gritted teeth , I wonder why the Cat didn't step and do the interview as he normally does in this situation , maybe he realises his years of sniffing is getting him nowhere.

Re: Wanted !! tricast/trifecta staking plan. £18.5K 3.45 York

Re: What is the best type of bet in horse racing ? £18.5 added to the Tote trifecta pool in the 3.45 York , fantastic value !!! Good Luck

Re: I found this, care to elaborate?
I pretty much agree with this list in general , I avoid them or keep stakes to a minumum. Although with large handicaps I may increase my bets if I feel there are value bets.So I was looking at various types of bet and came across this in a seperate section: _________________________________ Races to Avoid

Horse Racing - Horse Racing General

When arriving at my selections, races I consider best avoided include the following:- Over 14 runners
- Amateurs only races
- Hunter Chases
- Apprentice only races
- Conditional Jockeys only races
- Ladies only races
- Any 14 runner or less race where a proportion of runners are unexposed
_________________________________ Could anyone elaborate to the problems above, I really dont understand why they are problem races and Im still very new to myself betting, thank you

Re: rule 4 query at Towcester
Over the years I have written many letters of complaints , all you get back is a "....sorry for your bad experience in one of our shops....blah blah blah..." Better to deal with the shop direct , if you say you are going to complain to customer services they ususally sh-t themselves and sort out your problems immediately. Getting over paid is as bad as getting short changed from a service point of view. I'd much rather get the correct amount than too much or too little.I wouldn't imagins so! Afterall it is Erhaab against the rest of the world, whinge whinge whinge! I was over-paid by nearly €300 once... Awful frauds them bookies, cheek of them to give me too much money.

Re: Flat season - Too difficult to profit? Take a look at the results of the major races over the last 12 /24 months and very few of them could have been selected months/ weeks /days prior to the event.
