  1. Re: Fifa Under 20 World Cup Turkey 2013

One for tomorrow that might not last long; France are generally 5/2 to beat Spain' date=' but are 10/3 with Skybet and Boyles to win the group - which they will if they win the match.[/quote'] Having seen the teams I will re-iterate this. I fancied France to beat a full strength Spain team - let alone one with 5 changes!!!
  2. Re: Fifa Under 20 World Cup Turkey 2013

Turkey vs Columbia' date=' the odds are very high on w2. At around 3 something, I know turkey has home advantage, but what about columbia? Arent they ex champions or something, do they have a strong team, the same as in Touloun few weeks ago? I really fancy a bet on C and Greece vs Mali. Any input?[/quote'] My play for Greece v Mali in 1-0, 2-0 to Greece. I'm not one for singles at short prices but if you fancy anything else Greece at 11/10 aren't a bad shout. Colombia didn't impress me in their opener v Australia the other day, the majority of their squad from Toulon has been retained.
  3. Re: Fifa Under 20 World Cup Turkey 2013

Great call :ok..I took this purely on your tip as I don't know anything about the comp. Watched the second half and Mexico should really have won' date=' missed quite a few good chances and the headed miss from two yards was as bad as I've seen! Greece stuck in there though and it was a great finish to win it.[/quote'] Was a great game, Greece themselves had a few decent opportunities - most notably the chance that forced a double save from the Mexican keeper. The header from the Mexican was a shocker tho, I think you're being generous saying it was two yards out, I thought more like 1!! Also sitting on nice 40/1 voucher for the Greeks outright and France at 12/1, puts me in a nice position after the first round of matches. On another note, Colombia won't be winning this tournement on today's evidence.
  4. Re: Wimbledon 2013 No value in the mens draw for me so it's a no bet. Obviously quarter 2 containing Ferrer is the starting point for value seekers like myself, however it looks like being quite a tricky quarter, having watched Del Potro struggle last week he can't be trusted, Dimitrov, Nishikori, Kohlschreiber, Raonic and Dolgopolov can all beat each other on their day. I've plumped for Kvitova (Q4) @ 22/1 and Wozniaki (Q3) @ 100/1 in the womens. Both have won over 70% of games played on grass in their careers and over 65% of their games this season. Obviously be a tough ask for any of them to beat Serena but I've gone in each-way. All being well Wozniacki would meet Sharapova in the Quarters - I'd rather take a chance on Wozniacki given Sharapovas abysmal record against Serena as it isn't really worth backing her each way. Whilst Kvitova is due to meet Azarenka in the quarters - whom she beat when winning here 2 years ago and has a pretty decent record against, albeit if they haven't played recently.

  5. Re: Fifa Under 20 World Cup Turkey 2013

I know the under 21s were terrible but am pretty shocked to see the u20s as high as 1.66 coral against Iraq u20s. Some very good players in the english squad and their level is way above that of Iraq. Added to this the iraq team both seniors and youth have really struggled over the last few years due to the war and have had players killed and terminally wounded. Iraq has also lost hundreds of thousands of children either maimed by depleted uraniam or starved by sanctions over the last 10 years so this is bound to have a huge effect on the standard of their team. If english think they have problems with their international side it is nothing compared to Iraq.
Tread carefully with Iraq, they went unbeaten in qualifying and recently drew with Uruguay. I'm not suggesting that they'll upset England but they may not be as bad a side as you think.
  6. Re: Fifa Under 20 World Cup Turkey 2013

Don't think that's right according to the wiki page. Of England's squad of 21, 15 are from the Premier League, 4 are from the Championship, 1 from League One and 1 from Portugal. The Portuguese squad of 21 has 15 from the Portuguese Primeira Liga. As for the other 6, 3 are from Belenenses who won the Portuguese Liga de Honra last year for promotion to the top flight, 2 are from Barcelona and 1 is from the Italian lower leagues ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_FIFA_U-20_World_Cup_squads
RE England: 6 of the 15 Premier league players are plying their trade for their respective u21 teams (Johnstone, Cole, Long, Thorpe, Lundstram, Pritchard) and the rest have minimal PL experience (Ward-Prowse 15, Bigirimana 13 (+10 Europa), Potts 2, Flanagan 1, Kane 4, Barkley 7, Coady 1) RE Portugal: 9 of the 15 top league players played their trade for the B or u21 teams (Varela, Cancaelo, Ferriera, Pinto, Mario, Sa, Dabo, Toze, Paciencia), 3 from 2nd tier (Alves 7, Silva 31, Veloso 0), 2 from Barcelona B (Ca 4, Ie 7), only Ilori 11, Ricardo 27, Esagio 3, Bruma 13, Gomes 7 (+5 Europa) and Kiko 6 had top level experience I took my squads from Wiki and ran each player through transfer market database
  7. Re: Fifa Under 20 World Cup Turkey 2013 My two outright fancies are France at 10/1 (Various) and Greece at 33/1 (Paddy Power) France are taking a very stong squad over to Turkey for this, they boast over 250 first team appearances across Ligue 1, Serie A and La Liga last season - tournement favourites Spain have 118. Their form in the Toulon Tournement can be ignored as it was a completely different squad that was competing. I'd even be tempted to back France to win the group at 9/4 (Betway) ahead of Spain, Ghana and USA. Greece are taking a squad that boasts over 280 appearances in the Greek Premier League last season, and although their league isn't a strong as the major European leagues, it's a hell of a lot stronger than the African and Ocenia leagues. Greece also had a succesful qualifying campaign, eventually finishing runners up to Spain, who where the only side to beat the Greeks, albeit twice - once in the group stages and and again in the final. Uzbekistan may be one to put in your weekend accas at 5/6 (Paddy Power) against New Zealand on Sunday, they have some pretty solid recent form, losing narrowly to Spain, drawing to Chile and drawing and beating Portugal in their last few games. I'd advise people to avoid backing England and Portugal in the outrights, both sides are taking squads mainly based in second tier leagues and are priced on name rather than actual quality of the side. Portugal may well qualify from their group but it's difficult to see them winning the tournement. It would be no surprise to me to see England follow in the footsteps of the u21 side and crash out in the group stages as they face a tough group containing Chile and the unbeaten champions of the respective continents in Egypt and Iraq.

  8. Froch v Kessler I like Kessler by KO here (11/2 @ Skybet). Personally, I don't think Froch knows how to clinch and on the few occasions he has been hurt he fires back when he should tuck up and spoil. I'll probably split my stakes 70/30 with Kessler to win outright (2/1 various) and the KO. Bellew v Chilemba I think Chilemba had figured Bellew out by the end of the first fight, I expect him to pick up where he left off and take this on points. (3/1 @ Stans/ Betvictor) All in all I predict a bad night for Matchroom...

  9. Re: Sweden > Allsvenskan > 2013 Allsvenskan Preview

A few notes to help you understand the image below: Final Projected table - This table is based on a teams strike rate (W+(0.5*D)/P) over the past 2 seasons, after gameweek 1 the strike rate will revert to last seasons games plus this seasons games. Promoted teams use a set strike rate that will revert to this seasons strike rate at the 3/4 mark of the season. The projections are based on the % of points I expect a team to accumulate over the course of the season plus any points accumulated so far. eg. I expect a team with a 75% s/r to accumulate 75% of the points available, if they we're to play 10 games I would expect them to accumulate (30 (max points available)*0.75 (s/r)) 22 (rounded down) points. This would be added to any points already accumulated to produce a final projection. Index -The Statto Index values are based on an arbitrary scale with no maximum value (Chelsea reached a high in the 990s early in 2006). The important factor is the relative difference of a teams Index to that of its opponent. The greater the difference, the greater a team is expected to win. The index is based only on league matches but is also used to forecast cup matches. Trend - The Statto trend values indicate the direction that a teams Index is moving. This is a good pointer to the current form of a team and can indicate that a team may perform a little better/worse than their Index suggests. The magnitude of the trend indicates how quickly their Index is changing. 2nd Half Season tables exactly what it says on the tin Finishing positions for last 5 seasons and an average finishing position
Swe_zps6ccebe6d.jpg Starting with the Index ratings, as you can see only 7pts separates the top rated side Malmo and 5th rated side Hacken. Of the 5 teams only Malmo have a negative trend. I think everything is set for an exciting title race. My projections follow a similar pattern to the Index with only 4 points separating Helsingborg in 1st place with Hacken in 5th. Looking at the 2nd half of last season, AIK and Hacken are the teams who finished strongest averaging over 2pts per game. Given how tight I expect the league to be this season, I am going to take my opening positions on price. I expect both Helsingborg and Hacken to go close. Recommended Bet Helsingborg to win the league 7.0 @ Bet365 Hacken to win the league 11.0 @ Bet365
  10. Re: Norway > Tippeligaen > 2013 Gameweek 1 Review Projected Final Table: (Please note that the pre-season projection used data from 2011 & 2012 seasons, after 1 game the data reverts to 2012 & 2013 data so that is why the variances may seem extreme given only 1 game has been played) norway1o.jpg As you can see my projections have projected a new winner - Stromsgodset. However only 3 points separate the top 3 and they are the weakest team of the 3 based on index, but if they can maintain their form from last season then they have every chance. They put in a solid performance at the weekend defeating Sandnes 2-0. Rosenborg got off to a good start with a 1-0 victory away in Grenland. As I mentioned earlier Molde can count themselves unlucky to lose at Viking on Friday - that game could have gone either way and a draw would have probably been a fair result. Another team that can count themselves unlucky is Lillestrom, they had 11 shots on target compared to to Sarpsborgs 3 and 3 more corners and could only muster a 2-2 draw. Recommended Bet Stromsgodset to win the league 7.5 @ Various (And if anyone disagrees then come and lay me 15.0s on Betfair :-)) Already Advised Molde to win the league 2.88 @ WilliamHill (15/03)

  11. Re: Norway > Tippeligaen > 2013 Running the numbers through my Pullein sheet, I get the following prices: Viking 3.45 Draw 3.33 Molde 2.44 Over 2.5 2.33 Under 2.5 1.75 Also Statto Index has Molde as much the stronger side here, although they both finished last season with a Trend of +7. Recommended Bet Molde to win 2.65 @ 188bet

They are the top rated (index) team in the division and they are progressing (trend) at a greater rate than 13/15 of the other sides. They produced the joint highest PPG in the second half of last season, and of course they are the defending champions. Molde also top my projections by 6 points. Molde also have the highly regarded Ole Gunnar Solksjear as their manager, OGS was recently quoted as saying [that he is]" in no rush to manage in England" and "as a family, we'd still like to live in Norway". Recommended Bet: Molde to win the league 2.88 @ WilliamHill

  13. Re: Boxing>Nov 30-December 1 I can understand why people don't rate Fury - but I also think these same people are vastly overrating David Price. Yes, he looks to have devasting power but until he's chin has been tested I'll always have my doubts; this is a guy who was put on his arse in the am's with lighter gloves and wearing a headguard. Also I think Skelton, despite only lasting 2 rounds on Friday night showed the way to beat Price - to get inside. He managed it a couple of times and Price looked clueless, I think he'd have a whole heap of problems if he faced someone like Chisora and I'd imagine you'd get juicy odds of a Chisora win. As for pricing up against Fury, I'd still make Price favourite but not as short as the bookies have it. I'd go Price 4/7 Fury 6/4 Draw 33/1

  14. Re: Boxing>Nov 30-December 1 Tyson Fury to win on points @ evens (Stan James) is my call tonight. I see Fury doing a similar job to Vitali in this, comments on Boxrec from said fight state "Johnson moved well and proved difficult to hit and impossible to knock out, though he did not land a significant punch the whole bout". Given the fact that Johnson has not been the full 12 rounds since the Vitali fight, I may put enough to cover my stake on Fury 10-12 @ 10/1 (Ladbrokes)
