Verdict:
It’s easy to see why Champagne West is fancied once again, the yard can do no wrong in these big handicaps and the horse did appear to be unlucky last time out at Cheltenham. I think the step up in trip will help him and looks sure to be involved in the finish. One at better odds that interests me is Theatre Guide. He ran really well in the Hennessy and didn’t do much wrong last time behind Smad Place and Many Clouds. He was well beaten in the end but actually ran better than the bare result suggests when you look at the weights that’s day. Back in a handicap he should be able to hold his own off his current mark.

My selection is an out and out stayer having won over further than this over hurdles. The stiff track and soft ground should make this a test of stamina and my fellow shouldn't be found wanting !
I also think the handicapper might have let him in lightly in his first handicap chase with a rating 4lbs less than his last winning mark over hurdles, which was less than a year ago
Ran pretty well last time in a small field at Newbury to finished 2nd to Out Sam who looks useful (and also well handicapped now)

They should bring in handicap chase sprints

In the last race W Six Times is the hot favourite after winning last week. Its a short price for a horse who has only ran twice since last May and has never won back to back. We are now expecting him win twice in a week at the age of 10.

Venetia Williams has two runners up at Carlisle today, one for herself and the other one Fion Mac Cul for owner Trevor Hemmings who loves to have horses running up the North and has had plenty of success at Carlisle. This one looks teed up to me.
Looks a 2 horse race on paper so the price is about right and his defeat last time was when giving weight to two fair sorts over an inadequate trip at Wetherby. Before that he beat Rolling Dylan and proved he goes in the mud.
