I'm going to take Tom Ford to beat Williams today. I noticed with Williams that he has having alot of issues with the tip on the cue. He is also going for alot more than he normally would, such as doubles etc and I think Ford's price is too big. I'll also take a stab at an accy
    4pts T.Ford to beat M.Williams
    1pt accy - Murphy / O'Sullivan -2.5 / Selby -1.5 / Ford 10/1 paddypower (money back if one leg loses)

I wasn't able to watch the game Gooner but I read that he had a couple of decent chances. At least it was only an 'interest' bet, so not much damage done. A good night on the whole for British clubs.

Fred was top of my own ratings too ......I'm going to do less races but when I do rate I'll use the value ratings and my own side by side .....that way I can see who should win out the top 5 rated .....I think it will help a lot in narrowing down ....its a lot of work but will be worth it in the big races for certain

Always a big day on the Thursday as we go from 32 players, down to just 8. The players will have to play two rounds today. One in the morning and the victors will have to play again in the evening. Here's my fancies for the morning.
McGill seems to back to playing some nice stuff. He had a good Championship League group, where he reached the final and was one frame away from winning the group until Ali Carter came back and won it. He has continued that form here. Ursenbacher, the little s**t who beat Milkins from 2-0 down, goes up against Jordan Brown today. If Ursenbacher can reproduce that kind of form, he should win this one.
Yuelong takes on Gilbert at 1pm. Both players have won both matches 4-0. Gilbert looks to have changed his form around abit recently and he was one I was tempted to back in his quarter, but chose to go with Yuelong. I like Yuelong here.
    2.5pts A.McGill to beat B.Hawkins 13/10 willhill
    2.75pts A.Ursenbacher to beat J.Brown 10/11 willhill
    2.5pts Z.Yuelong to beat D.Gilbert evens bet365
1pt accy - McGill / Ursenbacher / Yuelong / Junxu all to win 14/1 paddypower (money back if one leg loses)

Yeah, I'm hoping Ronnie gets bored, having to play again in an hour or so. Carter would need to beat Ronnie to win the quarter.

Ursenbacher mocks me by not only beating my guy 4-3 (from 3-1 down) but he also goes 3-1 up and loses 4-3 when I back him. Classic.  Yuelong wins for a small loss for the day. Allen, Yuelong and Carter through but Yuelong has Ronnie (who looks like winning every match 4-0) and Allen plays Carter (from which the winner plays Ronnie )

More what I expect from Jamie Jones. 3-1 up and loses 4-3 to Mark King. Mark king!
joke of a performance from Ding. Milkins 2-0 up. 3-2 up. Loses 4-3. Fair to say the "good luck" is rare.

rather annoyingly, I had a good couple to go with yesterday but I've had some power outages in the mornings around here. Couple I'm going with today :
McManus and Pengfei have always had close matches. Craigie had some decent form and takes on Un-Nooh. Un-Nooh's form is quite patchy and he went into the Shootout bang out of form. He had only his second cue and is getting used to it and so I think Craigie is value there.
    2.5pts A.McManus to beat T.Pengfei 11/10 paddypower
    4pts S.Craigie to beat T.Un-Nooh 11/8 paddypower
1pt accy - O.Lines / McManus / Craigie / Milkins 28.5/1 paddypower (money back if one leg loses)

With the completion of the 1st round tonight, we're onto round 2 tomorrow. There are a couple that I will be going with tomorrow.
Guodong looks to be a good choice, against the out-of-form Gary Wilson. Guodong had a great week, last week. He has reached the Last 16 of the UK Championship already this year. Jamie Jones looks a goof price against Mark King, who got a bye, thanks to Robertson withdrawing. Jones beat Sijun in round 1. 4-1. Finally, I'll go with Joe O'Connor against Higginson. O'Connor looked very impressive in round 1.
    2.75pts X.Guodong to beat G.Wilson 10/11 bet365
    2.75pts JJones to beat M.King 8/11 bet365
    2.75pts J.O'Connor to beat A.Higginson 8/11 bet365
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
1pt accy - Guodong / Jamie Jones / O'Connor / Doherty 12.5/1 paddypower (money back if one leg loses)

Yeah, Wells played well. I'm glad I got to watch quite a few matches today. Carter looked decent. Milkins did well too. All the outrights through to tomorrow's round 2. However, Ronnie looked pretty awesome.

Obviously, waggy can afford it as stated above. He also obviously enjoys betting so it is a positive thing for him in other aspects like time, energy and mental health. Some people find betting like a hobby, an interest and a way of releasing stress sometimes when looking into what to bet, reading previews etc.
Again, you can have your own opinions but this thread has nothing to do with you. You've stated your opinion once, that's enough. There's no need to go on. Waggy can do what he likes and as long as he can afford the lost, it's fine. It's his way of betting for many years of his life and he's still surviving. So let him be.

Think this sounds more about you Steffi than me. Having been retired for 18 years this is one of my hobbies. Keep very fit, no mortgage, no debt and no mental problems. As for intervention what would that be about. This thread has been going over two years at no cost to me whatsoever, so what's the problem. I enter most competitions on here and enjoy studying sports form.
As I said, I have no problems whatsoever, but if you don't like the thread don't read it.
If you feel the need to vent your obvious frustrations with life feel free to voice them if it makes you feel better.

    Enjoy reading your punts waggy.
    I think people need to recognise the difference between someone;
promoting a system that they think will create a good ROI
    and
someone who wants to have fun on a hobby within their means and might get lucky
It's nice to check in on someone to make sure they are in control, but it should come from a place of care and not bitterness.
You ever think of drip removing profits when you are on a good run waggy?

    Thanks Larkin for your input.
You hit the nail on the head as this is a  hobby and a bit of fun. I also invest in the stock market which I do take a bit more seriously. Good idea for some the removing of a bit of the profit but not for me at the moment. Over the past nearly 60 years I have really enjoyed some great betting times, good and bad and met some great characters along the way, it's good to keep my hand in. Nice to hear from you.

Excellent post Torque. When I started this thread it was for 20 months and I started out with £2020, which works out at about £25 a week which I think is what most people can afford. As I was in profit the bets were able to rise as I was betting with the profits. As it stands now I could lose the profit and the stake and it would only have cost me about £20 per week in total.
The concerns you raise should be read by everyone. Bet within your means.

You know what @waggy if that's the way you like to bet then fair enough and who is anyone to argue with you. As long as it doesn't affect your life then there's no reason not to carry on the way you want to. Anyone of a reasonable mind could be concerned when someone bets like you do about whether you can afford it - whether you're using money that's needed for other things - and about whether it affects your mental health or puts a strain on your personal life. But if none of those things are happening then good luck to you

Quite an eventful day and a good ending thank goodness. Nice to see you both had a winning bet(s) too. I am used to this type of betting but I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. After nearly sixty years of gambling I now only get a buzz out of the big bets. Now back on a better profit base I will have to try and consolidate a bit for a while.
