  1. Re: Tennis: US Open Nadal over Monfils @ 4/7 Got to go with Nadal here.Has a winning record over Monfils and is simply better in most departments.Odds are inflated because of this abdominal strain Nadal has but we'll see how he's affected by that.If worse comes to worse he retires during the match. He's still easing his way back to form but has had a pretty tricky run so far with Gasquet,Kiefer and Almagro.....I don't think Nadal has been as bad as is suggested.Main reason for this bet is I can't see Monfils winning 3 sets off Nadal - has strong serve and can power that forehand at times, defends well too but is also inconsistent and passive at times.Dont think Monfils has the belief to beat Nadal over 5 sets at the US open. We'll see. GL!

  2. Re: Tennis: US Open Yeah had a bad feeling the second I placed the Petrova bet but think this is the type of match she can win.Probably would have been intimidated as usual against Maria. But if she serves well and gets some free points doing that, she has a chance.Hopefully not a 3-setter as I think Oudin has an incredible 3 set record....:hope

  3. Re: Tennis: US Open Alrite, already placed one for tomorrow. My biggest bet of the tournament so far, could be a mistake but have a gut feeling for Petrova. Petrova over Oudin @ Evens Was as impressed as everyone else by Oudin's display against Maria, but when you look into it Maria was also a major factor in her defeat.Oudin can rally well, hit winners, covers the court well and can change pace with the slice...good to see in a young player, makes a change from the huge ball-bashers dominating the game now.But Maria had many chances on Oudin's service games and also served an incredible amount of double-faults and weak second serves in her own games.Petrova served well when convincingly beating Zheng and has done most of the tournament....also can hit hard and deep when her game is on.An unreliable player but she must be boosted by Sharapova going out who owns her pretty much.Crowd will be with Oudin but I feel this could be anti-climax with Petrova winning in 2 or possibly 3 if Oudin starts well. Kuznetsova over Wozniacki @ 5/6 Really fancy Sveta here. 2-1 h2h with her two wins coming on hard-court.Not having her best year but showed at Rolland Garros that she shows up for the slams, also 1/4s at Aus Open.Watched parts of her match with Peer and she was very good in a tough match with Peer playing well. She has won here before and came runner up too so knows what it takes.Wozniacki is of course very talented but also quite passive at times defending well and waiting for mistake from opponent.I think that's dangerous against Kuznetsova ina GS.Could go to 3 but think Kuznetsova takes this one. GL!

  4. Re: Tennis: US Open Yeah Smeg nothing much today.Like Gonzalez but could lose this one to Berdych and his price is falling it seems.Thought the Clijsters/Venus match was a chance to make money but Kim is fave and something doesn't seem right with Venus as underdog even if she's struggling a bit.Wait til tomorrow. What you think of Petrova/Oudin?? Think Petrova is the bet of tomorrow at Evens.Oudin won me money last night and is talented but Petrova won't serve as poorly as Maria did and certainly not nearly as many doubles. Most service games were going to deuce or a break of serve.Think bookies are getting caught up in Oudin's run so far.

  5. Re: Tennis: US Open

also' date=' agree with gooner on the 19.5 games over on the sharapova match!!oudin has beaten jankovic and dementieva this year in grand slams!and [/quote'] Hopefully Smeg.Though as they say when it's too good to be true, it usually is.This looks the best bet of the day on paper but hoping Oudin doesn't have a bad day after that great win over Dementieva.
  6. Re: Tennis: US Open Stepanek over Kohlschreiber @ 8/11 Going with Radek here.Watched his match with Mayer..he played well, good serve and volley play as usual.Always capable of an inconsistent match like Golubev as few weeks ago but simply can't go with Kohlschreiber here. Two good wins so far apart from a bagel by Devvarman.Stepanek has a 3-1 h2h record but can't read a whole lot into those matches. Will maybe go to 4 or 5 but think Radek is worthy favourite. Verdasco over Haas @ 4/7 Have to side with Verdasco aswell.Haas' form has dropped over last few months on HC....losses to Gonzalez twice, Querrey and Isner means he's not advanced far in many tournaments. Struggled badly against Falla in round one here, really could have swung the other way had Falla taken the third set with the chances he had.Kendrick match was also tougher than scoreline suggests judging from the bits I seen of it.Verdasco romped to victory at New Haven last week after tough loss to Garcia-Lopez in Cincinnatti where he looked quite poor.Imperious form beating Beck and Serra here and looks ready to go deeper in this tournament.Another tight one anticipated here but Verdasco looks like the play. GL!

  7. Re: Tennis: US Open Not quite sure about these 3: Verdasco vs Haas Stepanek vs Kohlschreiber Soderling vs Querrey Would side with the 3 faves here but surely not that easy.Haas has looked shaky enough so far, pretty average HC summer while Verdasco has looked impressive in recent weeks.Stepanek is a tough player while Kohlschreiber has been pretty average over last few months.Soderling also looks good after coming back from injury and is superior player to Querrey. But all 3 faves surely won't win.Not touching Robredo/Blake...two players who have been struggling so will leave that one. Over 10.5 games 1st set between Roddick/Isner at 23/20 looks great. Need more time to ponder over these matches.

  8. Re: Tennis: US Open Pretty good card over next two days.First one for today: Sharapova/Oudin over 19.5 games @ 5/6 Seems too good to be true so it probably is, but can't let this match go without taking this. I like Oudin..good young player, fearless and very talented. She's got a good game for HC, good rallies and can hit winners.Showed against Dementieva that she has the nerve for big occasions.Sharapova is clearly coming back to form with semi in LA and final in Toronto. Also two easy wins here already over average players. But her serve is still unreliable, hitting double faults quite often.I think Oudin can make this one tight.

  9. Re: Tennis: US Open Yeah Smeg I certainly wouldn't side with either Almagro or Ginepri inthat one. Overs/Unders probably the way to go - Almagro is a mug pretty much and Ginepri is woeful at times. Azarenka should beat that handicap.Schiavone has a bit of fight in her but Azarenka looks to be getting some form back...should go deep in the tournament. Draw hotting up aswell..some good matches over the weekend.

  10. Re: Tennis: US Open Not a whole lot today it seems.Tomorrow's card looks a whole lot better with nicer prices like Verdasco/Haas. Will do a couple of smaller bets today, lower stress but hopefully win: Na Li x JCFerrero @ anything from 1.87 - Evens Na Li plays Kirilenko today.Watched her match with De Brito and she was aggressive, moving her around the court making angles very well.Pretty strong hardcourt player overall, had good results earlier in the year in IW and Miami. Also reached R16 here twice which is quite good.Kirilenko typically loses to higher ranked players - good win over Radwanska where she played good aggressive game against passive player.Expect alot of winners and of course UE's but have to side with Na Li here. Wasn't sure between JCF and Simon but think JCF is better option. Can't see anything but a win here.Top player and has good results over the summer.Petzchner is improving player but a bit overrated in my view.JCF here. Murray/Capdeville 1st set under 9.5 games @ 1/2 Usually do these type of bets when two big servers meet, but can't see Capdeville causing Murray any problems here.Strong on serve, one of the best returners in the game, consistent in rallies and better than his opponent in every area.Question is does he start quickly..I say he does.6-3 doesn't seem unreasonable for Murray here. GL!

  11. Re: Tennis: US Open Isner vs Ilhan under 37.5 games @ 5/6 Think Isner will win this match pretty comfortably.Got the big serve so will be able to hold majority of the time, Ilhan was getting broken quite a bit in the first round against Rochus.I see Isner getting alot of chances to break here. His tie-break record is also quite good if it goes that far.See if it falls under 37.5 games. Maximo Gonzalez +4.5 games over Witten @ 5/6 Was tempted to back Gonzalez outright here but handicap might be safer. He is a fighter no doubt, I've lost money before going against him.Mainly a clay-courter but showed good fight to win in 5 against Beck as underdog.Witten has come through pretty comfortably in the qualifiers and I don't know what to say about his win over Andreev.Only seen a bit of that match and it seemed like Igor had no patience, trying to hit winners unsuccessfully.Need to make Witten work, clearly not an athlete and Gonzalez could do that today.Let's see how it pans out. GL everyone!

  12. Re: Tennis: US Open Yeah may just stick with Melzer and Radwanska. Inclined to go with Fed overs and De Brito +5.5 but we'll see later. Clijsters isn't really a good match up for Bartoli...defends well and her groundstrokes are penetrating too.Have a feeling Bartoli will perform better than she did last time they played but not confident enough to put cash on it.

  13. Re: Tennis: US Open Good tip Matt on Murray/Gulbis. 4w-2l for tournament now after Navarro's comeback last night.Already placed bets on Melzer and Radwanska for today. Thinking over a couple more...some possabilities: Bellucci/Lu...cant split these guys.Over looks best bet as Repunt has above. Guccione/Cuevas...big server Guccione should take this.price is a bit short though Federer/Greul over 26.5 games...Fed can start a bit slow, Greul only needs 9 games so good chance. Bartoli/Clijsters over 20.5 games...Clijsters killed her in Cincinnatti but Bartoli will likely be better today.Could go to 3. De Brito/Na Li...4/1 is big price for De Brito.Talented player and can push close maybe. Safer bet looks De Brito +5.5 games at 5/6...really thinking of going big on this one. Any opinions welcome lads.
