  1. Re: Cheltenham - Tuesday 15th March 2010 I'm concentrating on Southwell today, but I've had one bet at Cheltenham.......... 2.40 Nenaphur Collonges, EW at 22/1 BOG with Stan James. Terrific Cheltenham record.........4 runs, finished 2113. Has won in a big field, has won at the Festival, has won coming back off a break, and is still fairly lightly raced He's probably handicapped to his ability now and there's bound to be a few in the race who are well handicapped but will they act here at the Festival in a big field hurly burly chase ?

  2. Re: Lay Of The Day Selections ~ Mar 16th Southwell 1.20 - Fulford - win lay Slammed by the handicapper for a win in Class 7 race and subsequently gone up again for being placed in a class 6 Doesn't look at all well handicapped now on his current form and up in class to a Class 5. Won a class 5 maiden race a couple of years ago but has never cut any ice in Class 5 handicaps

  3. Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Tuesday 16th March Southwell 1.20 - Effisio princess - EW at 16/1, BOG, Stan James Couldn't believe the price on this one this morning - I'd picked it out last night as my EW choice thinking it would be about 8/1.......... CD winner, goes well fresh, comes back off a break, second top rated on my speed figs (top rated is Jonnie Skull who's better at 7 furlongs ), dropped a couple of pounds in the weights and now just 3 lbs above last winning mark............and dead 8 runners (for now !........:unsure) It might just be that the horse isn't 'off' today and it's drifting or it might be that the bookies know about a non runner that we don't know about.........but taking all that into consideration, looks a cracking EW bet at the odds !

  5. Re: Lay of the day - Sat 13th Mar I've completely lost the plot on this laying comp after thinking I had it sussed for the first 7 or 8 weeks or so........... My selections just keep bolting in.............:@ I think I'll have to go for a run of long priced ones just to get a bit of confidence back............:sad Sheesh.........this would be a tough way to make a living !

  6. Re: Lay of the day - Sat 13th Mar 2.50 Ling - Edinburgh Knight - win lay Not sure about the very short price favourite here - Edinburgh Knight won a ling maiden, but it didn't look anything special and the form hasn't been franked since Several other last time out winners in the field and the race looks a lot more open than his price suggests.

  7. Re: Best bet of the day - Sat 13th Mar Ling 2.50 Transfixed - EW at 40/1 BOG with Stan James I've had a small EW on this one (got 50/1). He's fully exposed having run on average every 8 or 9 days since his debut last April. Typical David evans horse - run 'em every few days, presumably saves having to train them..........:tongue2 In a field full of maiden winners and horses coming back from long breaks, at least we know this one is fighting fit and experienced. He's also been getting a bit closer in his last couple of races and has improving speed figs

  8. Re: Wolverhampton 13th March (AW) 2.50 Not sure about the very short price favourite here - Edinburgh Knight won a ling maiden, but it didn't look anything special and the form hasn't been franked since. Burghley - Win at 5/1 with corals, BOG. This one won a maiden over CD and with a better speed fig than the fave managed in his maiden. From a pretty big yard (M Bell) and Hayley turner up. This one is bred for 7 furlongs whilst the fave probably won't show his best till he goes over middle distances. Transfixed - EW at 50/1 with Stan James I've had a small EW on this one at 50/1. He's fully exposed having run on average every 8 or 9 days since his debut last April. 9. Re: Wolverhampton 13th March (AW) 2.15 Souters Sister - EW This filly is on the comeback trail after having a year off As a 2YO won a group 3 and finished close up in a group 2. Because she hasn't won a race for over a year she gets no penalties here today and with the fillies allowance runs off bottom weight and is 'best in' on Official Ratings Had a nice pipeopener in a conditions race ar Ling a few weeks ago, finishing a close up 3rd, tiring in the last 100 yfs. Entitled to come on a bit for that run and could be a group horse running in a Listed race here Quite a few of these are old timers who are not improving and find it difficult to win at this level. A few others are handicappers stepping up in grade She has a good EW chance ! ps I'm trying to get on at 8/1 wirh Stan James but won't accept my bet, keep getting 'error' messages. I'll have another go in 10 minutes, but if it's less than 8/1 I ain't gonna bother as it's their fault I couldn't get on !

  10. Re: the start of the flat/lincoln handicap I'm trying not to get too excited by the start of the Flat because of the huge let-down after the Lincoln when we have to wait going on 3 weeks for the next race of any note.............:@ Come on 'Racing for Change'..........if you only do one thing, move the Lincoln Meeeting back until after Aintree and have it the weekend before the Craven and Greenham meetings...........let's have a proper start to the Flat season !

  11. Re: Best bet of the day - 12th March Phew !.........just in the time limit. ...... Cheers For Thea is a dual CD winner having his second run back from a winter break, last time he ran here he won pretty easily in a handicap Didn't seem to like Southwell last time, should do better here Should be suited by a decent gallop in a fair sized field as he comes with a late run

  12. Re: Lay of the Day - Thurs 11th March 3.55 Southwell - Punching - place lay Only two places and i think Bel Cantor and Onceuponatime will take 'em with Hits Only Jude in the mix as well Punching has a good course record with 3 wins here but was slammed by the handicapper for an easy win in a class 6 handicap a few runs ago and looks held now

  13. Re: Southwell Thursday 11th march (AW) 2.20 - Tealing - EW @ 7/1, widely available with BOG Again, another one who drops back in trip to 6F after winning at 7F here. The Johnston short price one is an obvious danger but I think Tealing may be the best of those who have been running over the winter. Just a damn shame that it's down to 7 runners from 8 as the non runner might have been 2nd favourite and I'd have got much better odds on Tealing, as well as the 3 places............:@
