  1. Re: Lay of the Day Friday 27th 2.30 Southwell - Castle myth - place lay In form, having won his last two runs, including over this CD Both those runs were in selling/claiming company and he usually gets beat in handicaps Although his last win was at 8F, I think he's better at 6F There's a few decent types in this race and I think he'll struggle to hit the prize money.

  2. Re: Southwell 26th Feb (AW) Interesting stat.......... I've been looking at the 2 runner race to see if there's any value in laying the odds on fav Doubnov has only run 23 times and remarkably 5 of those races had only 2 or 3 runners...........and he's won them all ! He's a small field specialist !...........:hope

  3. Re: Lay Of The Day - Thursday 24th February Been struggling to find one today...........I'm trying to stick to one meeting a day for in depth study and i guess it's bound to happen sometimes that nothing stands out........... I'll plump for this one.......... 4.20 Sou - Peters Gift - place lay This horse appears to be better over 7 furlongs and has 3 CD winners up against her with only 2 places up for grabs. With a small field it might not suit her if they don't go a fast pace as she'd probably need them to be coming back to her over this trip

  4. Re: Southwell 25th Feb (AW)

Something dodgy going on in the last I see. Captain Imperial was 33/1-40/1..... with some Doris I've never heard of due to ride. Now it's 3/1 2nd favourite????? WTF?
Apparently Tanya has been taken ill, necessitating a late jockey change.........:unsure Not sure who's up yet, probably Frankie or Ryan............. I hope the connections got on before the jockey change.............:unsure
  5. Re: Southwell 25th Feb (AW) 4.50 - Mocha Java - EW - 14/1 still available with Betfred I'm jumping on the bandwagon as well ! Won this race last year, has finished first and second on it's last two runs over this CD and returns here after a couple of poor performances on the polytrack. His odds have come down from about 16/1 in the last hour.........now generally 12/1 and 11/1

  6. Re: Southwell 25th Feb (AW) 3.15 Victory Quest - win @ 11/8 BOG, widely availabl;e Surprised this one is odds against - especially since what appeared to be the main danger is a non runner He's a CD winner who's finished 1st and a head 2nd in his last two runs here, he undoubtedly gets the trip Nakoma is the one who's keeping him odds against and he might improve for the step up to 2 miles, but it's not guaranteed he'll stay. He's won over 14F at wolves, but this is a stiffer test and he's faded near the finish in several runs over 14 furlongs before.

  7. Re: Southwell 25th Feb (AW) 4.20 Sou - Hits Only jude - win @ 4/1 BOG with Betfred and others Three times CD winner returns to 6F after a few runs over 7/8F Six appears to be his best trip, but he's been running ok over the longer distances, finishing 2nd a couple of times He won this race last year Punching appears to be a live danger but he's been hammered by the handicapper for a win and a place (oooh, just checking the odds and surprised that Punching is actually the outsider of the field ) Peters gift probably wants further, Total Impact looks more at home in Claimers these days, Wyatt earp has no C form and Westwood appears to be going backwards

  9. Re: Lay of the day Weds 24th Feb Sorry, just wanted to get that in before the time limit after losing my post to a 'cannot display the page' notice.............:loon Bishopbriggs has won it's last 2 races but was 'all out' to win by a head last time and the 5lb rise will probably stop him winning. He goes better at Wolves than here, his recent record here is poor He's also drawn in 2 and might get boxed in around the bend if the front runners get across.

  10. Re: Best bet of the day Weds 24th Feb Ling 2.10 - The Geester - win ar 7/2 BOG with Totesport Only 2 CD winners in this field, which is unusual for a low grade AW handicap The Geester goes well around here, is only up 2 lb for dead-heating a couple of runs ago. The dead-heater has gone in again since. Has a nice low draw the 7/2 is going............

  11. Re: Lay of The Day 23rd Feburary: 3.40 Ling - Red Somerset - place lay Todays race looks a bit tougher than the class 4 he won at Wolves last time out, and I'm not sure he goes as well here as at Dunstall Park He's getting on a bit now and I'm not sure he's speedy enough to take on some of these. the Wolves race was a slow run affair which allowed him to power home in the finish. I think they might be going a bit quicker today and hopefully that will draw his sting.

  12. Re: Lingfield 23rd Feb (AW) 4.10 Ivory Lace - EW at 12/1 BOG, widely available I like the old timer here, 9 years old Is well handicapped on latest winning form from the summer, has had a 7 week break to freshen her up. drops back to her best trip after 3 runs over further A lot of the runners in this Fillies race are inexperienced, half of them have never won in handicap company and a couple of others are just out of form or not very good. Decent chance for the old 'un to clock up another win or at leat, get in the prize money.

  13. Re: Lingfield 23rd Feb (AW) 2.40 Magic Spirit - win - 11/2 BOG with Boylesports Trainer has put this one in on bottom weight in the claimer and stuck the headgear on. Has a bit of a 'now or never' look to it Most of the field are stepping up in trip - Magic Spirit has already run twice over 10f and was only beaten a head on one of those runs, so he gets the trip, which some of the others might not On my patented 'stamina index' he's the mostly stoutly bred in the field and I've noticed over the last few meetings that Lingfield AW is suiting stamina horses at whatever trip.

  14. Re: Lingfield 23rd Feb (AW) 3.40 Ling - Thunderball - win @ 13/2 BOG with Stan James CD winner who returns here and back to a mile after a crack at 10 furlongs last time. In that race he quickened clear then faded at the finish, suggesting he didn't get the trip but had to ability to quicken away from the field at around the mile mark Couple of front runners in the race who might set it up for a 'tracker' A few old regulars in the field like Alfresco, Gallantry, Dens gift, Red Somerset, Trafalgar. They're all ok and will win occasionally but are well exposed My selection is relatively lightly raced and quite possibly still on the up. Pegasus Again is a worry for me, but hopefully he'll be scrapping for the lead with Dens Gift and ruin each others chances

  16. Re: Lay Of The Day - Monday 22nd February 3.30 Ling - Billberry - place lay I think this is wide open and can give all five runners a chance. Billberry is a last time out winner over CD but was hard driven to win by a neck and it's difficult to see him improving on that effort. I'd be happier if he was running under a 6lb penalty 'cos he's only gone up 2 lbs, but he's also up in class and has tended to flop outside of class 5 company He's also bottom of my speed figs I reckon Halsion, Jake and the Spinner will have more speed in a finish and there's always the chance that Prince will steal it from the front. Must admit that this isn't a confident selection, more a case of needing short priced ones to stay in the comp and all the races I've looked at today are small fields with good looking favourites who I don't want to lay. So it's a bit of 'best of a bad bunch' and fingers crossed !

  17. Re: Best bet of the day 22nd Feb 3.30 Ling - Halsion Chancer - win @ 9/4 BOG - Stan James Ran a good race on his seasonal reapperance with a fast finishing head 2nd over 6 furlongs here. Should be suited by the extra furlong and has a front runner in prince of Thebes to take them along Dual CD winner and entitled to come on a bit for that first run of the year.
