  1. Re: Chepstow 12/2 I havent even bothered looking at the meeting yet, as Ive wasted hours this season studying for meetings that haven't yet been given the go ahead. Hopefully it will pass its inspection @ 10amm and I will look then. Betfair won't load for me, does anyone have the odds on Chepstow going ahead?

  2. Re: Or Noir De Somoza!!!!!!

That's very strange' date=' Davd Pipe spoke very highly of the horse so why send it back to France so soon??? Something not right with this, wonder if Racing Post report on it in next few days.[/quote'] Also wonder why it was withdrawn from the Levy Board chase @ Kempton, when it was a definite runner for the friday at Newbury.
  3. Re: Placepots!! What are your views???

And of course if they did win..... My brother-in-law had firs of the Frankie 6 in the placepot at Ascot that day. He doesn't really understand betting - he picked up a few hundred instead of five-figures.
If they had won ues, it would have paid more but to get the £172 would have cost £2. A £2 placepot would have paid £264
  4. Re: Placepots!! What are your views???

I actually had a 10,000er up at Royal Ascot when I was about 17. Only had it for 2x10p lines though. But it was my biggest win at that stage. Despite this great win I soon learnt that placepots are disgraceful value and in my opinion the biggest mug bet around. I see so many single figure dividends - which is a joke. If every race was a result of 1st 30/100 2nd 25/1 You'd get the same if you have the six 30/100 shots or the six 25/1 shots - how can that be? I never play multiples either but there has to be an argument for doing E/W accas rather than placepots? Depending on your selections obviously.
Myself and the mrs do a single liner at each meeting each day, for a small stake to see who can get furthest each day. More of a fun bet than anything, and not one we are expecting a great return on. In saying that, it wouldn't be the first time, if I hit a £300 placepot for a £1 stake. Granted, they days arent very often and are more down to luck than judgement.
  5. Re: Or Noir De Somoza!!!!!! Or Noir De Somoza has returned back across the English Channel after a short spell with trainer David Pipe. The son of Discover D'Auteuil had just the one start in this country in Ascot's Victor Chandler Chase where he finished a distant fourth behind Master Minded. "The horse has returned to France to continue out there and that is all we know at the moment," a spokesman for the yard told sportinglife.com. On Wednesday it was confirmed the gelding had been taken out of the Seasons Holidays Queen Mother Champion Chase, Ryanair Chase and totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup at Cheltenham. Rated a very exciting prospect when arriving in Britain, Or Noir De Somoza has a fine record in France where he was a prolific winner.

  6. Re: Or Noir De Somoza!!!!!!

Just looking at the racing post site and it says Or Noir De Somoza now has no entries for cheltenham. Does anyone know why? picked up a injury?
I can only assume its because they have nowhere to run him there now, after MDB hacking up LTO against Denman, and the likes of Our Vic most likely to go for Ryanair.
  7. Re: Best bet of the day 11/2/09

Cheers guys, unfortunately I went win only, backing last night through betfair. I also took it in doubles with Bold Diva, Safin and Rule Britannia, so 3 doubles down too. A neck defeat is very frsutrating but you can't win them all I suppose. :\
    Jesus Wept!!!! The Mis-fortune continues 4:10 | 4 True Britannia (A Elliott, 15-2 ); 7 Good Buy Dubai (R Winston, 3-1 2nd-fav); 5 Peintre D'argent (R Kingscote, 9-2 ); 9 ran. 1 Nicky Nutjob (J Quinn, 5-2 fav); :sad
  8. Re: Best bet of the day 11/2/09

    2.05 Kempton<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

An open looking handicap to open the card here and they're betting 4/1 the field tonight on Betfair. Plenty look to be in with a chance - Ready to Crown chased home Colonel Sherman last time out and the form of that race has been boosted through the third (Mix and Match, who reopposes here), and Sir Mark Prescott's runner Rough Sketch, the current fav, is lightly raced and could be worth noting if there is support. The Graig would interest me if running over shorter but I think he may be found out over this trip so the one I'm on is Noah Jameel who could potentially go off at an overly generous price IMO. Both of his career wins have come at this track over this sort of trip and his last run suggests he needs further than the 1m 1f 103y he tackled at Wolverhampton that afternoon. He made good late progress inside the final couple of furlongs and looked as though he would have a race in him of this sort of mark. He's only 3 lbs higher than his last win, in Feb '08, but that doesn't offput me because he's had a couple of near misses. Similarly, the 72 day break isn't a problem either as his last run came off the back of an absence of a similar length. I've had 13.5 matched tonight and would be happy with anything of 6's or bigger at SP. 2 pt win - Supernap.
If ever I wanted a supernap to work out, it was a horse like that, at a price like that. I take my hat off to you mate, and can only say that was one of the most unfortunate outcomes Ive seen in a while. Hope you were on him e/w yourself though mate. :ok
  9. Re: Best bet of the day 11/2/09 4:35 Kempton - MUKTASB 1PT WIN The notes from the RP after his last run (which was over c&d)say

Muktasb had no choice but to miss the break from his moderate draw, and struggled for room in the final stages. He was gaining with every stride close to the line and is clearly in good heart.
This suggests that he would have certainly gone closer/perhaps won had A/ He not been forced to miss the break B/ Not run out of room towards the end Having watched the race again, I concur with the statement, and also took note of the way Obe Royal finished in 4th. Obe Royal has subsequently gone on and franked the form by winning yesterday. Aside from the run LTO, he has run over c&d on 7 other occasions, winning twice (when completing a hat-trick of wins, this time last season, off the same mark as he runs off today) placing twice and out of the places 3 times. 6f is his optimum trip, and he has been as high as 72 (feb '08), 12lbs higher than he is now, so looks feasibly treated if its a going day. Although the other market principals are rated higher, based on what Muktasb is capable of and how well he ran LTO, they will struggle to give him weight.
  10. Re: Best bet of the day 10/02 2:40 Lingfield - Riviera Red 1pt win Bare form looks very average to say the least but this animal seems to love the 8f @ Lingfield. His only victory to date was over 3 years ago but crucially over c&d, his other two c&d runs have seen him finish 4th and 3rd respectively, so on that basis is entitled to go close. Looking at the rest of the horses, I dont see any other horse who would inspire any great confidence, so Im more than happy to have a stab @ Riviera Red getting his head back in front today.

  11. Re: Well Chief

Just like they said with Azertyiuop..... Until he met the Mighty Flyer!
There is no doubting how good Moscow Flyer was. His record speaks for itself. Master Minded's run last year might very well have been a freak (the margin/style), but MM has since gone on and slammed every rival over two miles by some distance and in some style. I do not honestly believe that ANY HORSE could have coped with MM last year in the QM chase, but that performance may have been one in a lifetime, Moscow Flyer produced brilliant gritty performances time and time again. The saying went if MF stood up he won, the same goes for MM over 2 miles. MM got his rating he has from that performance last year and I personally believe that performance was unlike anything Ive ever witnessed at Cheltenham, and that includes any of the 'Holy Trinity's' battles/victories.
  12. Re: 3000 FOR Mr Ap McCoy

3000 could be beaten, but I don't think AP is stopping on 3000 :) P.S. Aiden Coleman will be the next champ jockey, mark my words :eyes
McCoy said afterwards: It's not something I'm going to play down - I am ecstatic. "All 3,000 winners have taken a lot of hard work. "It's very easy to be driven when you are lucky enough to do a job you love. "I am lucky to have been supported by a number of great people over the years." McCoy was also quick to pay tribute to his agent after his landmark success: "It's great, I've been very lucky with my agent [Dave Roberts]. "A lot of thanks must go to Dave Roberts. He's helped me since I started and, without him, this wouldn't be possible." Earlier in the afternoon, winner 2,999 had been achieved courtesy of Hello Moscow, which had seen the champion at his brilliant best, cajoling the horse from over a circuit out to a neck victory. RELATED LINKS

Nicky Henderson provided McCoy with three of his four rides, and after sharing the agony of Miss Sarenne's fall, was quick to praise the legendary rider. He said: "Just as you see it today, it couldn't be wetter, it couldn't be colder and he can ride winners like that and finish like that - it's quite extraordinary. I think he is the only person who would have won on either of them. "You'll never see numbers like that again. I cannot ever see him stopping because that's the way he is." Coral offer 5-1 that McCoy will ride another 1,000 winners.

  13. Re: Best Bet of the Day 9/2 3:10 Plumpton - Balthazar King 1pt WIN Improved significantly LTO over 2m4f staying on fairly stronglywhen seeming not to stay 2m 5f two starts ago. Taken to show enough improvement again today to land what seems to be a fairly average handicap race. Taken to follow on from the decent day stable had on saturday with a 1st, 3 3nds and a 3d.

  14. Re: 3000 FOR Mr Ap McCoy

I put a few words now and again on ch-4 teletext page 576 i think' date= i sent one in on fri the 6th feb saying AP was a legend, a guy called Ben from Leicester came back today saying you have to be dead to be a legend, ha ha lol, made me laugh, this is a quote from wiktionary -
    1. Any person of extraordinary accomplishment.
Michael Jordan stands as a legend in basketball.

Ben from Leicester is a d!ck clearly.
  15. Re: Denman DENMAN continues to drift in the market for the Totesport Gold Cup following his comeback defeat at Kempton on Saturday. Coral have pushed the Paul Nicholls-trained runner out to 9-2 (from 7-2) while cutting his Kempton conqueror Madison Du Berlais into 8-1 (from 10) for the same race. RELATED LINKS

Coral's spokesman David Stephens said: "Unsurprisingly, Denman has been friendless for the Gold Cup since losing his unbeaten record over fences, but by contrast the 10-1 on offer for Madison Du Berlais has proved popular. "David Pipe's charge is now single-figure odds to prove his Kempton win was no fluke." Air Force One has also been supported for the Gold Cup and is into 33-1 (from 40) with Skybet.

  16. Re: Some strong information from Kempton Horse to Lay

Had some very strong information from a decent source at Kempton that Premio Loco should be avoided today he scraped home in a conditions event last time so I don't fancy backing him at odds on. Connections suggest the win will come from who BONUS is having his first run over this trip ofter 51 races at shorter which is not an obvious positive. He is however about as good a horse as you find on the AW and his come from behind style may enable him to stay the extra furlong. Given a notably poor ride last time when never getting into it and Chris Catlin should have a bit more time to organise him up the straight Good luck all
You win some, You lose some. Premier Loco looked a decent horse, and was an easy winner despite his antics beforehand. Did I hear correctly that he is being campaigned towards the Winter Derby? With regards to Bonus, he ran a sound enough race and I hope you had him e/w. The one thing I do disagree slightly with is, I believe there are plenty horses on the AW, who are better than Bonus and he isnt in my opinion, "as good as you will find on the AW".
