    Everton vs Arsenal
The 5:30pm GMT kick-off in the Premier League on Saturday comes from Goodison Park where a recovering Everton host an out-of-form Arsenal. It's hard to comprehend the dire situation that the visiting side are in right now and they come to one of the toughest grounds in the division with the shadow of a relegation battle hanging over their heads. Can they get back to winning ways?
Everton started this season very well, had a bit of a slippery period but now appear to be getting back on track. Carlo Ancelotti's side are in 5th place after going 3 games unbeaten including enjoying back-to-back wins with clean sheets in their last 2 league matches. A potential problem for the Toffees is that defensive midfielder Allan is out injured for the Christmas period. There's no denying he's had a key role in limiting opposition attacks reaching the Everton defensive third in their recent games. If that news wasn't bad enough then Everton fans will be aware that the club haven't won any of their last 6 league games played just before Christmas Day.
Arsenal find themselves deep down in 15th place and only 5 points above the relegation zone. The old saying of "too big to go down" has caught out a number of big names down the years such as Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds, and Aston Villa. Nobody is immune from relegation and, right now, this Gunners team is playing like a side that is doomed. It's now 6 league games without a win for Mikel Arteta's men and this is their worst start to a season after 13 league games since 1974/75. Arteta himself has only managed 13 wins in his 33 league games in charge of the club. The 1-1 draw with Southampton offered hope that things could start to turn around but time is running out. Granit Xhaka and Gabriel are both suspended so it'll be interesting to see what changes Arteta makes.
If you want to talk about teams that have a hoodoo over other teams then you need look no further than Arsenal and Everton. The Gunners have won more games against the Toffees than against any other opponent in the Premier League. Everton have also managed just 2 wins in their last 12 league games against Arsenal. That said, Everton have kept clean sheets against Arsenal in their last two meetings at Goodison Park. I feel this could be another win for Everton. I just can't see this ending well for Arteta. His past working relationship with Pep has saved his job until now but even that won't save him forever.

My main pick is Newcastle.  Leeds seem to be everyone's second favourite team because of their style of play, but the fact is they are a lower mid table PL team, as are Newcastle.  Leeds have lost 3 out of the last 5, and have only won one game at home all season (out of 6).  Newcastle have only lost once away in the PL this season (out of 5) so know how to get points on the road.  No way that Leeds should be odds on to win this one, so Newcastle or the draw at 2.1 (betfair) is my strongest pick out of all the games this midweek.

On current form, you have to think Saints are going to go to Arsenal and get a result.  Xhaka and Bellerin are missing for Arsenal but that is probably a good thing as they have been two of their worst players this season.  Arteta might throw a couple of the europa league kids in to replace those two and freshen things up.  I think a draw as the biggest price of the three is what I would take in this game as you'd expect some sort of reaction from Arsenal to their recent form.

Yeah, I think backing yellow cards in a derby is always worth doing but only multiple bets because the odds are reduced to a degree that backing single bets doesn't really seem worth it. That said, I put a cheeky bet on Harry Maguire getting booked yesterday at roughly 3.00. I often tend to favour a draw in derby games too. That's just me though. Not an actual recommended betting choice!

Yeah, it's a simple case of the 4-average provides a longer snapshot of their performance levels but 2-average can show if there's been any recent increase or decrease in performances levels over the past couple of games. I would recommend doing your own research alongside these ratings though because the ratings can still be influenced by player absences or other circumstances that the ratings can't account for.

    Burnley vs Everton
The absence of a Friday night game after the postponement of Aston Villa versus Newcastle means we have to wait until 12:30pm GMT on Saturday lunchtime before we can get our first dose of Premier League action this weekend. It's Burnley versus Everton at Turf Moor and with both teams experiencing patch form at best lately this will be a game that neither will want to lose.
Burnley have struggled from the very first day of the season. It had looked like Sean Dyche's team had turned a corner after ending a winless run with a 1-0 home win over Crystal Palace. Unfortunately, that was followed up by the seemingly now traditional pounding by Manchester City last weekend. The Clarets are still down in 19th place but could move out of the relegation zone with a victory here. Goalkeeper Nick Pope is back in contention though after missing the City game with concussion. Worryingly, Burnley have only earned points against teams placed 15th or lower this season. Scoring goals is still the issue for Burnley with the team only managing 2 goals in their last 8 league matches.
Everton had started the season well but their form is on a concerning downward spiral. Carlo Ancelotti has witnessed his team lose 4 of their last 5 league games in a run of results that has seen them drop down from league leaders to 8th in the table. The Toffees are still only 2 points off the pace of the top four so a win here would propel them back in amongst the leading teams but the 1-0 loss at home to Leeds last week was a gut-wrenching result. Away form is still an encouraging sign for Everton this season with the club winning 4 of their 6 games in all competitions on the road so far. One of the big issues that remains is the defensive side of their game with the team failing to keep a clean sheet in their last 9 league matches. If you're looking for a cheeky first goalscorer bet then Dominic Calvert-Lewin has bagged that in 4 of his league starts so far this season.
I'm trying to avoid sounding pessimistic but I have a feeling this game could be a struggle to watch. There's no doubt that Burnley will take a point here and with their impotency in front of goal I just feel that they'll adopt a defensive approach. Everton have the ability to score goals but that defence is still a worry. There is no better time than this game to get that elusive second clean sheet of the season. I think they'll do it and snatch a narrow 1-0 or 2-0 win.

Ignoring the "big 2" of Son and Bale for Spurs I think it's worth backing their next couple of scorers in the betting. 9/2 for Lo Celso and 3.55 or so for Moura seem worth playing given that they often take their chance when they get a start in the "minor" competitions.

    Wolves vs Southampton
The final game in the schedule for the Premier League this weekend is the 8pm GMT kick-off on Monday night when Wolves host Southampton at Molineux. Both of these teams will have developed aspirations to push for a potential Europa League qualification spot or even better so taking points in games like this against their ambitious rivals will be key for them.
Wolves had a stuttering start to their campaign by losing 2 of the first 3 league games but the narrow 1-0 loss to Leicester in their last game before the international break was their first league defeat in 4 matches with 3 of those being wins leaving them in 12th place. Nuno Espirito Santo has built a side on a solid defensive foundation with Wanderers keeping a league high 13 clean sheets in the league during 2020. Every single one of their last 9 wins in the league have been with a clean sheet. It's now 22 home league games without defeat against teams outside the established top six.
Southampton are starting to play like a team that could cause some real damage this season. The 9-0 loss at home to Leicester last season feels like another team at another time. Ralph Hasenhuttl's men are now in 5th place and only 4 points off the top spot. The Saints are unbeaten in 6 league matches having won 5 of them and winning the last 3 in a row. Only Manchester United have earned more league points on the road than Southampton in this calendar year. However, the sticking point is that Southampton hate playing on a Monday night when they have failed to win any of their last 12 top flight league games played on this night.
These are two very evenly matched teams in the league. Even though there are a number of places and points separating these sides in the table I feel they're on similar projections this season and should both be considered as realistic candidates for the Europa League. I feel this will be a game where both teams would take a draw and that's exactly the outcome I'm going to back with both teams scoring.

Stick around here and see what tips people put to be honest. We have a number of fans of teams that give experienced and knowledgeable predictions for their own teams. There's no better source when it comes to betting than advice from fans of the clubs themselves.

I've found that betting on draws has delivered me the most profit to be honest. You can get decent odds and if you find two sides that you simply struggle to separate then you boost your chances. I find that betting on teams near the top end of the table playing away against teams in the middle of the table is often a decent draw shout. The team at the top will undoubtedly look for the win but ultimately come away happy with a point on the road against a solid side. The mid-table team will feel earning a point at home against a higher placed side is a decent result. So before you even kick-off you know both teams will be satisfied with a point and that affects how they will set up for the match. Why have I pinpointed higher placed sides away to mid-table sides and not lower placed sides at home to mid-table sides? The higher placed sides will have enough self belief that they'll go toe-to-toe with a team on their travels and the mid-table team will feel they have enough about themselves to go for the win at home. Lower placed sides might not have the same confidence in their own game due to such poor form overall.

I'm a lot more optimistic after our past two performances but Bournemouth have had the better of us over recent years with us only winning 1 of the last 5 meetings. However, that was the most recent encounter when we won 2-0 at home back in February, 2019. There's no denying that this Bournemouth side is strong and I still feel they are favourites. I wouldn't be surprised to see us grind out a draw though. That's what I'd back if I was betting on the game tonight. 1-1 or 2-2 draw.
