Chased this up (the guy isn't on Twitter that much) and got the reply back that "they're happy with the settlement due to it being an enhancement which has different rules compared to bog standard ones, i.e. win only".

So the outcome we'd arrived at the consensus was most likely while we waited for the response.

I'll chalk it off as career development and site it as an example of "going above and beyond" on my next performance review.

It's a shame customer services couldn't reply along those line when first contacted, and that the rules don't make it clear enough that we didn't need to query it. I still have no idea whether they honoured the 3 places or reduced it to 2 and as @LeMale says above they don't make it clear what they'll do when there are non-runners in extra place races so you're left to wait and see how your bet ends up settled.

Assuming they don't make it up as they go along it should be possible to draft rules that make it clear to customers what will happen in any given scenario. But that's bookies settlement rules for you, it's pretty much the wild west out there and a case of "let the punter beware".

Still a nice win though! :cheers

Yea i think you got there after a lot of research, but always worth querying, so well done for trying on a sport that isn't your forte. (and for someone else!) Can't wait for my next bookie problem...i now no where to come! 🤣

I was going to say it's not unusual for a bookmaker to boost the number of places they are paying on selected races in which case they wouldn't necessarily be betting to standard terms on that race but check out 365's offering for the 7 runner Kelso 6:35 tomorrow! :loon

The race is flagged as a place boost race, if you click on it it displays the main race card and the betting is boosted to 1/5 the odds for 3 places. If you then click on "each way extra" (which you would logically do if looking for more than 3 places) you get the option to bet to 2 places at bigger odds or 4 places at shorter odds (both to 1/5 the odds).

So you can bet to just 2 places if you want to (and can find the option) though the bet would still be likely to settled as per "each way extra" terms rather than industry standard.

Anyone would think they just make this stuff up as they go along! :eyes

Not related to superlee's bet and just to further confuse you H, they do change the places when you choose "each way extra" and you don't get BOG either. I used to use this for single bets sometimes when i used to get a decent price, (i no longer do, but it might not just be me, they may well have slashed prices for everyone) and i would find that i no longer had the 6,7 or 8 places i selected and they had moved my place selection down because of non runners, but with no mention on my bet slip, which i always found a bit odd.

  3. Have been following this on and off and one thing that might help (or not) is something me and Kroni came across once which was we had both bet ew (with 365) on a horse/race with extra places and because i had placed bet earlier, i got 5 places. I guess that there were non runners and they adjusted the extra places down to 4, which is when Kroni placed his bet. Even though they changed the amount of places, i still got paid for placing 5th. (Skybet don't do that, but they clearly state the amount of places for as long as it doesn't drop below the "said" amount of runners. )

Keep fighting though @harry_rag, because i believe you are right and it also p*ssed me off that they kept replying on the same point, which wasn't the question you were asking!

    Good Luck with it all.

Just an observation- it seems this L15 thread is the most popular racing page on this site now (155 pages in less than 2 years) even though i don't see a lot of profitable bets. The obvious answer is the fun part of having a bet as opposed to the serious stuff which is what the bookies thrive on (as seen in bookie shops countrywide)  bread and butter stuff and all that. Personally i think some are posting too many but have countered this by lowering their stakes and i am yet to be convinced that's a good strategy long term. I would suggest that it is simple enough to keep a basic record of expenditure when having "fun" bets because even at low stakes losses can mount up over time. Yes i do know a few do put P/L on but to new players i would suggest that it is quite important.

I didn't know how this thread started and just went back to page 1. Went through quite a few pages, took 5 pages for you lot to get 1 winner 🤣. It's getting late now and was enjoying reading them old posts, but did you guys ever have all 4 win, or even 3? It is a good thread and i should have posted more on here really, but i feel like it brings me bad luck, which is why i'm posting a few at the moment, my luck can't get any worse. Like you say, shame we haven't had more big winners other than Michael's and didn't you have one once on here? I have experimented with them this year versus my 2/3/4/5 fold system (with c/o) and although i hit a snag when 365 stopped my c/o, they came back eventually and i made more on them than L-15's, but i might carry on doing them next year, but maybe only 2 or 3 a week.

I can see both sides of the "more for less" point you make, but you summed it up for me when you said if all 4 came in and you'd only done a 2p L-15, you'd be kicking yourself, but i'm not going to judge people on their stakes for what should be a fun bet, because we all know what we should do when the fun stops.....

Didn't know that LeMale , i do now thanks to the forum's technical wizard     :clap

Get what Zilzalian means about the thread but i took it as a meeting place sort of thing to chat about any potential big prices for later , obviously no idea about any p/l figures.

If i knew i'd see it through i'd start an e/way thread but it would be totally different to this one in that the average price would likely be around 4/1 , the place book would be almost certainly over broke , it wouldn't include any handicaps and it would be as certain as can be that 3 places would be available with at least 8 runners.

I f i started it wouldn't be as much fun as this one and probably far too tedious for the daily bettor , any e/way thieves on here with the patience of Job will know exactly how the thread will pan out.

Posting a Lucky 15 on this thread will be win only as my e/way bets are always single figures with the appropriate maths and race shape to justify the bet , whereas there's only the exchange as a sensible option for big priced win singles as 99% are far bigger than any bookmaker odds.

Not sure @Zilzalian was talking about you mate, but you're right about it not being a "meeting place" as such, a little chit chat goes on, but really just for posting L-15's. The daily thread called Racing Chat (with that days date) could/can be more like that, with some chat and generally members picks/tips. Don't think you can't start your own thread, sounds interesting and i'd follow it. Also i don't think anyone would care too much if it wasn't FUN, if you put something up and it makes them money, who cares about FUN !

@MCLARKE is your man when it comes to all the math, as i said yesterday, most things like that go right over my head, but i'm always interested in trying to learn new stuff and reading about it on here, even if i don't understand everything.

Bit late in the day now LM but will guess one for tomorrow.

Just on the Skybet thing i clocked their prices on offer in the 4.05 Goodwood ( ironically called the extra place handicap ) and their final over round just before the shows took over was 135% against the SP return of 119%.

That's a big discrepancy and even more so when you compound into place doubles and trebles , reckon you'd be extraordinary fortunate to benefit from Skybet prices over SP in any period of time especially when you get 3 or 4 placed.

Their thinking LM is just a mathematical one as with the Goodwood example , unusual in that bookies normally start restricting customers by beating the price as many have found out but this example is the reverse thinking.

Firstly, your right, skybet ex place races are sh*t for prices, but you notice the difference more the longer they are. An example today i noticed Villa Chris had something i'd picked at 12-1 with skybet and 365 was 20-1, i think my single bet on that was at 28-1 and sp 50-1. It's one of those things, it ended up at 50-1 and came 2nd last, if sp had been 8-1 it would probably had done better. (not always true, but you know what i mean) I think i will try everything at sp for the rest of the month and see how i get on, mind you, i'm going to need some winners first and i'm not getting many at the moment.

This is a bit like the blind leading the blind, because although @Zilzalian nicknamed me Techno Kid, it's very much tongue-in-cheek, as i'm useless with technology, but if your responding to someones post, use the quote bit at the bottom and it gives a notification to them, or the @ thingy and then the name. eg @bymatrix Nearly missed your post above as you put LM instead of @LeMale. You probably know all this already, so just ignore if that's the case.

Thanks TE , don't get it anywhere myself so just wondering if it was still about.

Bet365 & Betfred closed my a/c unfortunately online but i've a syndicate that can get on somewhere if required.

One question i would ask to anyone playing the extra place markets particularly with Skybet is have you ever compared your price taken vs SP even after the event , something i always do with Skybet for extra place multi's is take SP as opposed to prices with their enormous over round built into to help protect the concession , as well as them always paying a fifth in the extra place races even when it constitutes a quarter.

I'd say probably the vast majority of horses quoted at say 6 or 7/1 and over are bigger at sp and some alarmingly so , i know for a fact traders at Skybet dislike punters taking SP on those extra place races due to them being woefully short early on due to the concession.

    Good luck all

    Hi mate,

I get BOG on bet365 and on skybet races with no extra places. When taking advantage of the extra place races i will put half my bet on at the price (if close to the others) and other half at sp on single bets. On L-15's and accas i sometimes do the same and do half and half, sometimes all at sp and sometimes i mix and match. Interesting what you say about skybet not liking us taking sp. Mind you, 365 seem to be offering more extra places lately and even noticed this week some races that skybet aren't, hence i try and use 365 whenever possible. (and because of bog)

Nice to see you found us over here! Now where's your Lucky 15. 🤣

Yeah, if the market is points it should be 10 per yellow and 25 per red. If total cards then a red can be one or two depending on the firm (mostly two).

When you say last minute, you mean last minute don't you ! Is this just to show what you have done or can people get bets on that quick ? I'm still trying to find assist only, can only find to score or assist and Bet365 don't seem to offer either. I know the game has started now so it's too late, but 365 don't offer much in play do they.

Did my £5 bb on Man u win / btts / Salah to score / Bruno to score / 40 booking points. I'm not holding my breath!!!

I'd lump it all on Victors Dream and forget about the rest...I've got your first 3 in one of my L-15's so they don't stand a chance. 🤣

If i was you i'd think about a transfer, but you've missed the window now! 🤣 I'd change me for Aussie @bymatrix (don't know if he/she is an Aussie, just assumed because of the profile pic...mind you, having just looked at my name on here, there might be some that think i'm French!) Can't seem to hit a barn door with a marble at the moment.

  11. Well done @bymatrix, couple of great picks to nick it from double seeking @paulat and well done to them as well. Also well done to fellow "man of Kent/Kentish man  @silver fox for winning the KO Cup and anyone else in the money. Seemed a tricky month for some, me included, the fact that my name appeared in the top 10 of the most winners table i think proved that, not sure i've ever been on that table before!

Last, but not least, an extra big thank you to @MCLARKE this month who, as per usual did a great job and did all this, as well as other comps, while abroad on holiday!!! Not sure my wife/family would have been so understanding, so thanks also this month to Mrs Clarke. 😘
