  1. Frustrating start, Hull (6-0), Portsmouth (2-1) being the only winner ... +5.52pts

    Sheff Utd (3-0), Peterboro' (0-2) .. -2pts

    A.Villa (2-2), M.K.Dons (6-0) .. -2pts

    Arsenal (3-1), Solihull (2-2) .. -3pts

    Daily total ... -1.48pts

    Start Bank = 100pts ........... Bank stands at 98.52pts

  2. As it is the start of a new year I am going to put up some football selections. I have been betting on doubles, trebles, and occasional bigger multiples for some time and making a decent profit. I prefer doubles as they usually pay above evens and gives minimum opprtunity for the 'one let me down' scenario.

I will stake variably (1pt min - 5pt max). All odds will be taken from Bet365 to make it simpler, it is easier for me rather than saying place this bet with Hills, this one with Lads etc.

Stakes will usually be 10pts in total from a 100pt bank.

    Hull 5-6  ... Portsmouth 11-20 ... 3pts (pays 1.84/1)

    Sheff Utd 23-20 .... Peterboro' 4-6 ... 2pts (pays 2.58/1)

    A.Villa 9-10 ... M.K.Dons 8-13 ... 2pts (pays 2.06/1)

    Arsenal 1-3 ... Solihull Moors 4-5 ... 3pts (pays 1.4/1)

maybe @bang on could enlighten us - wilder has had a few pops at McCabe and the poundland prince who were in dispute.

United have always been a selling club and have sabotaged some promotion campaigns- witness fjortoft and deane being sold at a time when they should have been pushing on for promotion.

You will probably find out more later this month. The Wednesday chairman is supposed to be having a meeting with any fans who wish to attend where he will answer all questions as full as possible. This might end speculation as 'some' of the supposed restrictions have not been confirmed.

As for United being a selling club, you are probably right as we don't pay anywhere near the amount in wages paid at Wednesday so players move on. We do however have one of the most successful academies as can be judged by looking at the number moving on to the Premier league.

i said in a previous thread that i thought rotherham were overpriced at 15/4, which has now shortened up to around 5/2.

The mood around wednesday is fairly miserable at the moment and maybe rotherham can get their first away win of the season.

The crowd want the manager to be sacked but the owner is not one for either admitting mistakes (of which there have been many) or acting decisively. I have sold the second rotherham goal at 79.5 as well as backing them to win.

As a Blade I would love Rotherham to win. However, I think that Wednesday will get something out of the game. Local derbies can be tense, but Wednesday seem to do quite well against Rotherham. Factor in Rotherham's away form P 10 W 0 D 3 L 7 and I can't see a Rotherham win.

As for behind the scenes, I think that Wednesday are walking a financial tightrope with the 'financial fair play rules'. That is why they can't sign anyone or sack the manager. Unfortunately it is a mess that won't change anytime soon.

That late Southport winner turned a decent day into a very good day. Shame Darlington went 2 down before they got going and Dulwich had a man sent off which stopped their chance of winning, but very happy with the days work.

Great tipping again Darran. Made a nice profit but yes, Darlington  :@ cost me 4 figures.
